Doesn't anandtech reviews take a few days go up? Considering what you get compared to the other review sites it's definitely worth the wait.

Depends. Apple sends review units based on the reviewer, not website. Now that Anand and Brian are no longer there, they might have not gotten a unit at all.

LOL at the video review. "It seems apple is just playing catch up, nothing less, nothing more"

9/10

Still their highest rated reviewed phone ever. The Verge really is just laughable at this point.

I read the review. Does the video actually sound different?
Well he finishes the review saying that he's been using large phones since forever and that Apple is not really bringing anything new over and this is just playing catch up, and that the iPhone 6 is just a big good phone.

I haven't read yet.

The video review doesn't at all sound like it would be the highest rated phone review from The Verge ever and yet it is.

No mention about the RAM whatsoever?

Confirmed at 1GB for both.

That Apple review bias.

The battery life sounds good though.

Maybe on the iPhone 6+, but on the 6, you can argue it's either similar to the 5S or even worse (at least, per TechRadar). Just unacceptable to pay that much for a phone with worse battery life than peers despite a sub-Full HD screen, smaller screen (vs. 5-5.2") and a better optimised OS. Apple should have sacrificed a few millimeters of thickness in order to pack up more mAh in the battery. Also, despite all we know about iPhone/iOS, it's puzzling that battery life is very average/poor (by 2014 standards) despite pushing much, much less pixels than its counterparts.

Also, the screen. 720p-ish is not cutting it in 2014 - no matter how you put it.

I was going to buy an iPhone 6 but these reviews put me off - will either save my money or wait to see what the Nexus 6 will be like.

Oh man my friends told me they had to carry cash every were and not a lot of places took credit cards. Wii U with NFC payments just makes sense!

Yeah, still definitely not a credit card society, although that's gotten a lot better, too.

Cash or mobile device (or physical train pass card with up to $300~ charged to it).

The world wasn't ready for larger screens until now. Now larger screens just make sense.

I am glad though that someone actually gives a flying fuck about battery life.

Well I guess it just reflects that the upgrade is generally boring, being only a bigger, faster, better iPhone with just 2 or 3 new characteristics beyond that such as NFC/ApplePay, OIS and 240fps, but that's enough to be the best iPhone ever and it barely has any drawbacks vs competition now.

I'll be able to use ApplePay daily to pay for probably 75% of my daily needs. That being said, I was shocked around a bunch of Europe and Japan how much cash-only there is there.

But that is sort of besides the point. ApplePay isn't meant to replace cash.

Why would you want to compare it to another platform? Who reading an iPhone review would want to read about the latest and greatest from Android or Windows when they do not care about those platforms?

Not everyone reading a review on the iPhone 6/6 Plus is going in with the mind set of ignoring Android devices.

There's a lot of people like me who are open to buying phones regardless of what platform it is, so it'd be nice to see a comparison with what else is on the market, not what's strictly limited to one platform.

The reviews have also cemented my decision against the Plus. OIS, better battery, and nicer screen simply don't warrant the ridiculousness of a 5.5" phone. Will definitely be staying with the "already wishing it was 4 inches" regular 6.
Are there any comparisons between actual pictures taken on the iPhone 6 vs. the S5?
Doesn't seem like it. The reviews seem to indicate that it's still the same quality photos (gorgeous), same low light performance (great), only OIS on the Plus (even better low light) and focus pixels that cause it to AF almost instantly.

There are people completely dedicated to buying certain products and have brand loyalty. Given. Bias exists. Customers are customers. You get sites like The Verge (and many others). They take that idea and transform it into an editorial and call it journalism. There were editors during their post-event livestream that were straight up going to buy it. Think this includes the ones who wrote the reviews. It's not a question of criticism but they're asking each other which model they're going to buy in between a week from the announcement to the lifting of their embargo. Not a conspiracy. They're just tools that don't bite the hand that feeds them review units. Review units = page hits. 'Nother brick in the wall.

Not saying it's not a great product. It looks fantastic ... but these first reviews are like the kickass fireworks you got to cross over in another state to get. They dazzle and fizzle.

That's why you vote with your wallet. I know the normal six will sell more just for the fact the Plus is supply limited right now, but if it stays that way I could see apple maybe bringing back the 4 inch. The plus would really have to tank for that to happen I think.

I'm surprised/kinda pissed that they keep saying that the screen on the plus is better. Even in some shots and parts of vids, the 6's looks better to me (and the contrast ratio is indeed superior, and that info comes from Cupertino).

You may be right, but I have a hard time believing this is still the case.

I feel like, by this point, people who are interested picking up phones that aren't free with contract already have a preferred OS or will do the research about another platform if it piques their interest enough to consider switching.

I may be wrong, of course, I'm just doubtful that there is a large segment of people who fit the description.

I am actually quite surprised with the 6 Plus. I was expecting more praise for the bigger size, but some are saying it's not that great with the iPhone. It works, but it's not great. I was expecting (those that I know do Android reviews) to be more appreciative of it.

I wonder how much of the each outlet's review time goes into trying to get the best 'Indie' looking shot of the iPhone. I like Engadget's this year with the height lines against the mini wall with each iPhone. the Verge is lacking behind with the Jenga tower.

Well it is better, since it's 1080P. Contrast is really a matter of taste, some people like a lot, some don't. What kind of display is it anyway LED?

How is that a conspiracy? The review didn't sound like a "You need to buy this phone" kind of review. It sounded like an 8/10 review.

But, man. Those fuckers gave it a 9! A NINE! A whole point higher than an 8! Doesn't that just make your goddamn blood boil? Corrupt-ass journalists!

4.7 perfect screen size generation starts when Apple says so.

I love all those "best smartphone" claims in the reviews. Probably true if you're attached to the iOS ecosystem, very arguable otherwise.

The joke, as Mad Men fans know, is that Don was in fact thinking about Ginsberg and was scared of his own work not being able to compete.

Let's hope no android users do something stupid. Like yell and get mad at the future of computers. Or even worse,
cut their nipple off.

Somewhat related but one of my friends has been on an anti-Apple tirade for the past week ever since the iPhone 6 was announced. Like, everything Samsung marketing puts out is immediately shared with a "this why I like samsung, they are the best" type comment attached to it. It's kind of funny to watch because no one ever responds to him.
