I remember FMT was apparently the only person to report the Xbox slowdown before release last summer. You know, it really is mind-boggling that not a single preview (or pre-release mag review) mentioned it. How can that happen? That's another example why sports reviews are worthless.

No doubt about that. I would say that commercials in some ways (lighting, ambiance, cameras) looks better than even live footage could. The animation and modelling is also insanely good.

Madden will be great! The visuals will be outstanding, the Franchise is going to be great and Madden is Madden. I'm looking for new inovations in sports when it comes to animation. Especially in football where the momentum of each play dictates the results. Power, pyschics, field conditions, wind...that is what is going to seperate this gen from the next. How much more can you do with visuals, it's all going to be about AI and psychics.

i really dont know why no one was reporting it either.
again fellas im not trying to brag, i dont know the first thing about journalism or how to write a comprehensive article to be published. but that isn't what reporting on sports games (or any games really) should be about. as far as i'm concerned you should gather the information as you see it, and then post what you see. there are only 2 LOGICAL explanations as to why no one reported the xbox slowdown issue:
1. They only played the ps2 version and figured "hey, xbox is basically the same, we can go ahead and report on it!"
2. They had reservations about bad-mouthing an EA game (i.e. not receiving betas, promos, etc)
good thing for me that i have never received an EA promo nor do i have any ties to EA in anyway (except that i love madden
)
rest assured friends the real dirt is going to come out regardless.... on 49ers-age.com! you lose GA!

dont worry i will. truthfully sports games are all i really care about, thats about all i'll play. for some reason no one reported AT ALL on nba live last year until JUNE! if i had realized it i would've payed more attention at the time. I played 4 or 5 games and gave DM impressions of it, but why didn't any of the sports site report on it? i still dont know why.
i am strangely looking forward to seeing Football 2k6. i have an overwhelming feeling that it's going to be the 2004 chargers of football. what i mean by that is now that the NFL has been taken away, now that there is no officially licensed players/teams, they are going to fix most of the problems and release a great game (not unlike the chargers sucking balls the year before then all of a sudden being great). one thing i can't resist is football, whether it is officially licensed or not. i will buy the game for $19.99, hopefully 2K sports is still interested in making it (there has to be SOME money there...)

The bad thing about these screens is that they've killed my interest in Madden and NCAA 2006 on the current platforms. A week ago I was looking forward to this season's games, now all I want to play is next gen Madden.

With each screen, the game keeps looking less like concept art and more like what I'm expecting from next gen consoles. Not that that's bad, it's still beautiful, but the latest screen seems more down to reality.

i said i was finished w/ their crappy products after last year. and let me tell you something, if ESPN NFL/NBA/MLB 2k5 would have been anything over $19.99, i wouldn't have thought twice about skipping them. but $20 ain't a hell of a lot of money to me. if their games stay $20 i will likely try them out regardless. when it comes to sports games, especially football, i have a hardtime passing up budget games. but in the future if VC/Take 2 ever charge anything over $19.99 (even for Xbox 360/ps3/rev games) i will pass regardless.
in baseball it's to the point where i will honestly buy EA College Baseball MVP 2006 for $49.99 over MLB 2k6 by 2k sports for $19.99
so, at the end of the day even though i despise most of VC's products, i am a sports fan at heart and i will always give sports games a proper chance. call it a character flaw or me not learning my lesson after being burned by VC time and again, but what can i do

Same thing with the 989 stuff. They had a very rough run for a while and then they suddenly craft a baseball game that everyone's talking about.
I just have a lot of fun seeing what everyone comes up with every year. That's why all this exclusivity stuff is ruining a lot of my fun as a sports game fan.

Yep, that was really stupid of EAsports. My main concern was how clean they would be able to get the game to look and it now it seems that the perfect AA was due to the fact that its a render. The coach's model has advanced as much as the player one if you compare coaches from the older games.
