Jon Favreau's beautiful CGI update of Disney's animated classic keeps the songs and the fun, and adds real emotional weight

- Robbie Collin, The Telegraph

Exceptionally beautiful to behold and bolstered by a stellar vocal cast, this umpteenth film rendition of Rudyard Kipling's tales of young Mowgli's adventures amongst the creatures of the Indian jungle proves entirely engaging, even if it's ultimately lacking in subtext and thematic heft.

- Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter

The Jungle Book” delivers a coming-of-age tale that never gets lost in the thickets of the technology that made it possible.

- Alonso Duralde, The Wrap

Favreau took something that would probably suffer in the hands of a lot of directors that didn’t just come off of a “bare bones” project. He kept it lean. He keeps it on point and in focus. He made it great.

- Mike Ryan, Uproxx

Maintaining the buoyant heartbeat beneath all the digital flash, Favreau never loses sight of the fact that he’s making an adventure story for children — no small matter in a kid-pic landscape flooded with inappropriately gritty reboots and frenetic distraction device.

- Andrew Barker, Variety

Raves across the board. Been looking forward to this one for a while; glad to see it delivers.

Interesting. I thought it was going to be complete shit. Still love the 1942 version.

Why does he wear the mask!?
It won't beat the animation which is one of my favorite movies, but I'm pleased it's seemingly good. Been excited for it. Will treat my mum & my sister to a day out to the cinemas when it releases in the UK.

Nah...after Cinderella last year, not trusting reviews for Disney's live action fairy tale anymore.

Yeah that was as bland as ever. But to be fair it had Blanchett having a lot of fun playing an asshole

Hard to gauge reviews on these Disney live action movies. If its inoffensive it will get praise.

But then Favreau has made a good family movie before in Elf.

Still the best live action version of the character.

Cinderella was a little too wholesome for me but it wasn't a bad movie. It will be a good movie to get over Christmas.

The Cinderella movie was so good and faithful...man the Internet Hates everything

It's not saying much, but Cinderella so far is easily the best out of the Disney live action remakes. Yea it took no risks, but I loved how it was just a straightforward version of the fairytale.

For whatever reason, the talking animals in the trailers have seemed very Uncanny Valley to me, but I guess we'll see. Unlike many people, the 1967 animated version has minimal nostalgic value for me.

I'm actually really glad, I wasn't too hopeful at first and it would have been a shame to ruin The Jungle Book. Looking forward to it.

Glad it's getting good reviews; been looking forward to it since the first trailer. Only saw the '94 version though.
