First Ryse Review

I'll give him most of his complaints, but uninspired enemies? What did he want out of semi-historically accurate Rome...space aliens?

Uninspired is an odd term for it, but it sounds more like lacking variety. A few types that will get reskinned throughout the game instead of introducing anything new.

He's talking about how all the enemies fight exactly the same draped in different skins.

This game looks terrible. Well it "looks" good but man, that gameplay looks foul. Awful. Great review. Hopefully saves some people some money

Yeah, imagine it had combat like Dark Souls. That would be something. Wish DS2 was coming next gen...but that's off topic now. The poor reviews are going to save me $60 though, that's for sure. Will wait for it to hit the bargain bin.

This game just absolutely screams $5, beat it an an afternoon, forget about it.

Yeah, it's a $5 game with a budget way above what a $5 would have.
Only the story and script are also shit.

Oh, and it's full price...

Oh Crytek...

Cancelled my Amazon pre-order just in time.

Sessler spoke directly to me about every damn single worry I had.

No thanks.

And an extra "fuck you" to microtransactions bullshit infesting almost all X1 launch titles. I will not support this.

...And I'm down to Dead Rising 3. Ugh.

Sorry I can't even give crytek too much credit for presentation when the animations (from what I have seen so far) are janky as fuck.

Wow, I honestly thought it was a $20 download game. I guess because it was originally a kinect game. Full price for this drek AND microtransactions? What shit.

Mighty power of Xbox One...?

Well compared to current gen..yeah but make no mistake about it...just because the PS4 is more powerful than Xbone...the Xbone is still a very capable machine graphically...i expect to see some very impressive visuals with its games once developers begin to harness that "static" hardware inside of both Xbone and PS4. Look at what we are already seeing with these launch games...that is just a glimpse of what much better optimized games will look like..of course much better down the road.

This obsession with micro transactions is worrying, but you figure it makes sense (for them) to do it. Why chose between mobile/tablet AND 60 dollar games when they can do both? And add dlc and all that jazz we have seen this gen.

Someone better be getting ready to put Senjutsu on life support.

As soon as I heard when the review embargo was up, it all but confirmed my fears about this game.

There was a reason why this game was embargoed to Thursday.
Fucking shitty ass industry practice, trying to trick consumers who preorder into buying garbage :/ really wished review embargoes would go up a few days before launches.

It'll never happen, but I like to dream

While I generally detest Polygon, Philip Kollar is one of my favorite writers in the industry. He's pretty good, he just happens to work for a shitty site.

Kollar is pretty shit too.

Gave Forza Horizon a 6 and The Last of Us a 7.5. Can't respect him after that.
