Totally confused seems to be a reoccurring thing with Kurtzman and Orci.
In The Mummy fall out, I learned they were responsible for Legend of Zorro. Mask of Zorro was so good, I wondered what went wrong with the sequel.
That story line was done in ASM1. Less about catching the killer; more about realizing he could help others, learned as a byproduct of his little revenge quest.
Although, again, sometimes I mistake what's in the final movie and what was left out.

This again describes something more like Transformers 5 or Suicide Squad, I just don't get how they could be considered "trash of the highest degree." And I'm not even trying to defend them. Even if I didn't like them I would still think some of these comments are outrageous.

Mask of Zorro felt like Campbell was channeling Raiders Spielberg. It was just a fun adventure flick that took itself seriously enough. The score by James Horner was great, and it had wonderfully fun performances by the leads. The only real negative to it was the villains weren't as strong as they could be.
But the film had Zeta-Jones unleashed upon the world, Banderas being both a lovable loser and a suave bad-ass, and then Anthony Hopkins being the smoothest muthafucka ever.
I watched it once when it released on DVD and remember a few exciting stunts in it, then the Paxton heel turn. Then a bunch of unremarkable shit around that.
