They're 3 or 4 out of 10 type movies. Most people go out of their way to avoid a movie of that quality, so it's not too surprising it would automatically be one of the worst movies they've ever seen. Occasionally a franchise name just forces you to watch something.

I thought Garfield was incredible in The Social Network and was rooting for him the entire way. Amazing 1&2 let me down. Best scene though... that's when Peter was typing and the keyboard keys stuck to his fingers. haha

Also, don't forget that the best promises are the ones you break... or something like that.

No the fuck they aren't the acting isn't bad, the editing is meh, the action scenes are fine, the cinematography is okay.

That ain't a 3 or 4 outta 10 unless every movie you have ever seen is a consistent good to phenomenal movie. In that case sure

It's a technical masterpiece of filmmaking and basically a perfect example of all sorts of different aspects of cinematic storytelling, but alas I'm personally not all that big a fan of its story. I absolutely get its importance and historical context- it's just that Charles Foster Kane does not resonate for me as a character. It's a personal thing. But its importance in cinema should not be questioned.

Having said all of that, I side more with Orson Welles on this one- his best film is probably Chimes at Midnight. For any of its technical flaws, it's almost definitely the most sorrowful film I've ever seen. It also has the single greatest acting Welles ever gave in a scene in his whole career imo.

Don't get the hate for Amazing 1 at all and while 2 has things about it that don't work too well and a stuffed script courtesy of Kurtzman and Orci, I don't think it's nearly as bad as some let on. I like a lot of what's there and I thought the climax was fantastic.

Negativity is pretty hyperbolic IMO but it usually​ is. Transformers 5 is a real actual piece of shit, both Amazing movies are absolutely lightyears beyond shit like that (and that's still not saying much lol)

Like I love Rosemary Harris as Aunt May, she's another scene stealer, but the scene in which Goblin attacks her, and directly after are overacted on a Shatnerian scale.

Probably a writing and directing issue. The second definitely has the highest highs for Maguire and Dunst. But even still... a lot of it has to do with the cast around them. Weakest links. But with that cast... just about anyone young was going to be the most likely to screw up.

My initial point was... Spidey 2 was my bar for best Spidey, all the issues I have with the portrayals by Dunst and Maguire, legit terrific movie. But... with as little as we've seen with him... I like Holland SpideyPete, better than Maguire PeteySpider.

Calling Dunst and Maguire "terrible" was hyperbole. They were the weakest links, and the stars that were overshadowed at every turn.

I hope the comparisons with Spidey 2 and Hughes are true. With a Spidey I actually like, and think can hold his own, this could be a great movie.

Nah I get you, I was kinda commenting on thread avalanching from trashing a couple movies to trashing cinema itself. :p

I want Homecoming to be good. I think my being "not high school age" is getting in the way of that though. I'm already biased by having a supporting cast of adults replaced by kids.. Someday we may even get Holland Spidey out of college, something no other Spider-Man movie has delivered yet! :p

If Homecoming had Tobey, then it might be an actually great film.

It doesn't. Therefore it is shit.

Also, Spider-Man 2 is garbage. Would have been better with Tom Holland.

BvS and SS are legit two very very bad movies. To me. To ME.

On the subject of First Class, while I agree that it's a bad movie, it's ironically also probably the closest an X-Men movie comes to being a damn X-Men movie.

I hate that Fox (and Sony with the Amazing films) can't do both things well.

Suicide Squad and Spider-man 3 and BvS are the best comic book movies ever made.

The theatrical versions are far superior to the Director's cut versions. I'm being serious.

Also X-Men Origins is the best Wolverine movie out of the 6 movies. He actually ends up killing the bad dude himself rather than his partner doing it.

DoFP doesn't count it was more Prof X and Magneto movie than Wolverine movie.

You're not wrong, but it's asking people not to indulge in hyperbole here, which is only amplified by topics around fictional characters they have borderline religious affections for. Asking them to look beyond themselves. Kind of a lost cause.

And it ain't like you or me or anyone participating in these thread ain't guilty of it. Lord help any thread when the merits of Avatar are brought up.

Agreed about Suicide Squad, it's fuckin horrid. BVS is in this limbo state with me where I don't really dislike it and find much about it to be well done but never feel like actually sitting through it again.

I honestly forgot this movie existed lol. I never bothered with any ASM movie, they looked bad. I think the last decent spiderman movie was spiderman 3 and yea i know it was disappointing compared to the first two.

It needed more focus but I still cannot understand why they got Orci and Kurtzman to write it. The first ASM had Steve Kloves and I think the guy that wrote Spiderman 2. Talk about a downgrade.
