First trailer for Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man

premise seems a bit lame.

richie's filmmaking style is what makes his stuff worth seeing.

other than that, this just comes off as another "man seeking revenge" story

I agree that it definitely looks like your run of the mill garbage, but considering it's Guy Richie there's probably at least 2 twists to this story.

certainly.

twist 1. the good guys are actually the bad guys who killed his family
twist 2. his son is alive
bonus twist 3. his son is working with the bad guys (who were originally the good guys)

Sherlock was good due to the fact it was directed buy Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes. It was the only reason I ended up watching it when it came out years ago. It’s a lot of fun and the Guy Ritchie touch made it something memorable.
Yeah they were great. I just associate him with movies like Snatch and Lock Stock that I forgot he did them.

Great film. It's on Amazon Prime atm (in the UK at least)
Nice. I'll try to watch it soon.

If anything I'm more amazed by the fact that it's called "Wrath of Man".

Actually stunning and brave considering the times we live in lol.

Maybe I'll give it a try. It's just, that I can't take (the) Guy seriously anymore.
I mean, who in his right mind, would be married to Madonna?

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.

I wouldn't marry Guy Ritchie, to be honest. Don't forget he walked away from that marriage with a lot of fucking money, right out of her war chest. But, yeah I wouldn't marry Madonna either. She's tortured.

Huge Ritchie fan, but I'm just going to point something out; he makes one movie for profit, then one movie for passion, then profit, then passion. He said as much in his Rogan interview (one for them, one for me).

He's working with Statham here again so there is hope, but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't live up to some of his greater works. He's working on an Aladdin sequel so Wrath of Man could be his passion project cause Aladdin sure as hell isn't.

The Gentlemen was great and a good way of going back to what made people love his work to begin with. Hopefully this continues the trend because it looks fun.

what is wrong with that? It sounds like a good premise for a movie. Why does it need to be more than that?

Its overplayed. Esp as of late.

i just expect more from GR plots.

my point still stands, maybe it didnt come across - a bland story by GR is made up for by his style

The Gentlemen is an excellent movie, pretty sure it's the last movie I saw in theatres before the whole Covid situation.

Pretty laid-back at times compared to other Guy Richie movies and the story really isn't all that spectacular, but it oozes style and the cast makes this movie shine. Charlie Hunnam was awesome in this, as were McConnaughey, Grant and Collin Farrel.

Dry Eye was a pretty lame antagonist though, but perhaps that was the point.

Definately worth a watch!

Yeah cast was great. McConnaughey and Collin Farrel are always good. I've only ever seen Charlie Hunnam in Sons of Anarchy, but I might check out some of his other stuff.

I feel like watching In Bruges now.

Oh shit, looking at Collin Farrel's imdb page it looks like he's going to be the next Penguin. That will be interesting.

Tag, you're it.
Just saw the movie and I liked it.
The story is simple but it's well done and while Statham is acting like always, it still work here because of the character.
Also great job from the audio team, and the soundtrack is very nice too:

Possibly unpopular opinion, Statham is not a leading man, he can’t carry a film. And that’s not to shit on the guy he’s cool af but he literally is only capable of one emote. He’s much better on an ensemble or buddy picture where he can play off more capable actors.

This is what happens when the director and screenwriter have talent. The story was very simple, the character wasn't anything complex or very thought out but they managed to keep the movie interesting and fun. Guy Richie knows how to make movies, end of story, the Hollywood frauds need to learn from him. Statham btw was playing Statham as per usual but he was perfect for the role, they probably wrote the movie with him as the leading man in mind.

Did you guys see it in the cinema? Were the gun sound effects the loudest and beefier you have ever heard?

Just watched this tonight after the terrible Army of Dead last night.

That’s how you fucking do it, Guy delivers, stratham acting more gritty then normal the entire movie is actually but now that’s enjoyable.

Recommend every one give this a watch.

I watched the trailer, but by the time I realised I had seen enough I’d already seen too much. Trailers need to be at most half the length they are now.

That said, I wouldn’t mind giving this a watch.

I doubt it will too Snatch and Lock Stock, but they set a high bar.

I'm still pissed off I watched that fucking trailer. I closed the video half way through and they had already spoiled me about
his son's death

Imo directors need to take more creative control of trailers from these marketing morons, these idiots actually ruin movies.

I was disappointed there were no fighting scenes at all in the movie. It's just shooting shooting shooting. I like to see Statham kicking some asses.

It was alright. Simple and clear plot. Extremely restrained for a movie he wrote and directed, though it was a remake of a French film.

This actually felt like a for profit film. It just lacks any of Ritchie signature feel and dialogue. Pretty much his most traditional film since Swept Away. Also some of the actors were perhaps a little flat like Eastwood (who seriously can not act), and Ritchie normally has excellent ensemble cast of characters.

:/

Statham is a pantomime of himself in most films.

This looks like a Transporter clone.

Hope Ritchie pulls through, but I don't think this is the film to rebuild his reputation. That poster, too, looks a bit too serious for his brand of quick witted quick cut directing...

It was a really fun movie to watch, especially after the horrid mess that recent Snyder's zombie movie had been.
Pleasantly surprised by the action, the (minor) plot twists and the story telling. It's definitely not terribly original, but it does work really well.

Why would Guy Richie need to rebuild his reputation, he's been consistently making good movies for many years.

It's definitely not like Transporter.

Man, this movie is something else.

The first 10 to 15 minutes feel like you're watching a videogame intro. You know, where you're new somewhere and the rough partner immediately becomes your best friend and basically walks and talks you through the mechanics of the game while making weird conversation. It felt very surreal and very not Richie-esque. Jason Statham is basically a videogame protagonist in this.

The movie isn't nearly as twisty and turny as the typical Richie movie, but I found it's straightforwardness very refreshing. You don't see these kind of movies much anymore. It also doesn't hold its punches, it becomes surprisingly gnarly at some point but it's all one big testosterone high up until the end.

Absolutely loved it, but don't go in expecting a movie filled with clever dialogue, whiplash-inducing plot twists or snazzy camerawork.

I'm with you, I love Guy Ritchie anyways but those movies really took an interesting story and made it more entertaining than it had any right to be.. really actually wish they had made another.

Yeah, the intro seemed far too long and far too involved for the eventual final act "payoff". Felt like there was originally a lot more "who dun it" sleuthing Statham was supposed to do amongst this group of colorful guard misfit types.

Still, it was pretty bad ass throughout. Not to the level of HEAT, not that anything ever is, but a good companion piece if you want an action heist double feature.

My thoughts exactly. Nice change of pace for Guy Ritchie while still being a crime drama. Completely forgot this was going to be in theaters, just watched it at home and really enjoyed it. While I thought The Gentlemen was a good return to form for the zany British crime drama I would love to see more in this vein.
