Fist of the North Star |OT| of heads exploding and instant beard growing!

Because I always thought he looked badass like that! :lol I must really be the weirdo then *lol*

I mean I know the whole story arc was out of whack, but I really liked that look for Ken, I plan on picking up the Revoltech "Land of Shura" Ken at some point even. Yes I know he looks like Stallone from Cobra but hey. Call me goofy.

Is there going to be DLC for this?

Yes, and some of it seems to be tied to pre-orders.

The game has two DLC characters at around $8 each (I am going by Japan prices here), a number of extra stages at $2 or so each, and extra manga costumes for all the non-DLC characters at $3 each. If you were to buy it all, it would cost you close to $50. It's NUTS. And I am one of the crazy mo-fos who did it. ^^;

Store exclusive DLC, brilliant. For the UKers who are interested it's only £30 on amazon but GAME is the only place to get famous fatty Heart and some extra levels and it's £38.

Either Koei expect Europe to bite into the DLC or someone over there is proper mental.

Daitarn 3 (maybe my fave ever with Ken)
the mentioned Ken Il Guerriero (FOTNS)
The incredible "accordion french" Lupin the 3d version (it's like an Edith Piaf version :D)
Jeeg Robot d'Acciaio first version (Kotetsu Jeeg) (same music but much better all around imo)
Devilman by Cavalieri del Re
and of course L'Uomo Tigre (Tiger Mask s1) so friggin' seventies, damn I'm old :lol

...also of course Dash Kappei/Gigi La trottola :lol

:)
Others you forgot to mention

Vultus 5 (don't know the original title) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05oSVT-ARtY

So powerful, so seventies. Awesome funk.
But is it Facchinetti senior singing ? i always wondered :D

Babil Jr. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn90Y6R3bBc

Oh, and this one just cracks me up: Ryu - il ragazzo delle caverne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voRxMDJ8zZM.
Why the hell does it sound so 'Old West' ?? :D

the ones i can think of right now, but basically anything before cristina d'avena was worth listening to, being written and sung by actual musicians who put a lot of effort into what they did, even though it was just anime opening songs.

Yessir. :) Tetsuo Hara and Buronson really liked to do the homage/parody thing in HNK, what with Falco looking like Dolph Lungren, a bad guy looking like Sloth from Goonies, a starting chapter page being a direct rip of the movie poster for Over the Top etc. :)

Holy shit! I played the demo for this on PS3 last night. This game is really impressive and better than what I expected (Dynasty Warriors with a different skin). Plus, Ken is such a badass, just as he is supposed to be.

So is this a $60 game? At $40 I'd pick this up right away, but at $60 I'd have to think about it.

They ripped off a shit load more stuff too. They stole just about everything they could from the Mad Max series. Heck, even Hulk Hogan + Mr.T make an appearance as thugs.

Too bad this game stinks if you're not a Fist fan though. I'll probably pick up the US release when it's cheap just to have an English version.

For achievement folks, game is a very easy 1000/Platinum if you don't mind extreme repetition.

Thank you, I'm at work so I dont have access to that pic saved in my Photobucket :lol

The anime even has a few other weird cameos, like one girl who is clearly Minky Momo, and one bad guy looking like Arnold as the Terminator in a filler episode. The movie also has Arion and Vampire Hunter D.

Also in Souten no Ken so far I've seen a bartender looking exactly like Rowan Atkinson :lol

To those that have played the game, is there any nudity in it? I have to be careful about what kind of games I play in front of family members( mainly kiddies). I only ask because I'm familiar with the manga and was curious about this.

Ha, yeah I remember "Gren" who was very very obviously Arnold in his Terminator look. It's also been suggested that Raoh is based on Arnold(Visually). Fist's super long Raoh saga secretly being Stallone vs Arnold would only make the series better. :D

There was also those two nanto fighters(I forget their names but they were found encased in a cement block) that were blatantly Hawk and Animal from the Legion of Doom.

Mamiya's clothes can get torn up but nowhere near the extent of the alt costume pictured on the previous page. Though when she crawls through tunnels, her animation and the camera placement are extremely gratuitous. No actual nudity nudity I can recall though.

This exactly why all of those were top notch, not like the friggin' late "lalala let's sing some rhymes with a techno-commercial base".

:lol Ryu ragazzo delle caverne... hahah, so out of place, yet so awesome.
Facchinetti's just some urban legend, much like that Piero Pelu' was the one behind Jeeg. But Mal has actually done a lot of them, although his Jeeg's theme can't even be named in the same sentence of the original ;)
Btw, <3 Cavalieri del Re, those guys got real talent (hell yeah bass riffs!).
I forgot many of them, or tu put it right: I wanted but couldn't post an uber italian's anime openings list! Or could we...

I would let my kids rather see naked women than a guy killing ppl by ripping off and smashing their heads and bodies.

On a side note:
Why is it subtitled "Ken's Rage"? They never read the manga or at least a bit of the story, right? Funny how they can come up with such crap.

violence and killing ppl is pretty standard for media in western culture tho. Quite different from "suggestive themes". In the original series of hnk there was some toon tit from mamiya and rei encounter tho, but that's all I can think of, pretty tame for a post-apocalyptic mindless violence plot.

It's not entirely off base. Kenshiro distinctly tells Shin after during second fight that...

It wasn't Ken's obsession with getting Yuria back that helped him defeat Shin. It was HIS RAGE, due to having Yuria stolen away and seeing the injustices that Shin's cronies inflicted on innocent people.

And then later, Toki would remind Ken that he needs to "turn his tears into rage", so that he could keep fighting, and eventually be able to take on Raoh.

Just waiting for the Charlie Brown hour on ABC to end (and finishing eating) and I'm firing this bad boy up!

Yeah, I'm not expecting some amazing game, but I'm looking forward to some great HnK beat'em up!

Insanely fun so far.

Oh in 10 minutes of play I've killed 100 people (and that's legit, it keeps score).

They translated Lin as Rin though.:lol

Holding down Triangle with Kenshiro unleashes the pimpslap from HELL and does environmental damage. I love this game. It's just fun. It's revolutionary, game changing, or rewrites the genre...it's just a hell of a lot of fun!

Zeed is introduced with the text PREDATOR OF THE WEEK!

I really loved this game. I'd say the one downside is combat against bosses is a little lacking, the mechanics just aren't good enough. Block is completely useless because you can't break out of combos to use it, and the vulnerability phase in between combos can be rather frustrating. Grab is also basically useless because it takes so long to use and if it misses, god help you.

Having said that, I put over 50 hours in and really enjoyed myself, there's loads to do and the trophies aren't grind-tacular at all which was surprising (well, one is a little bit but it's actually really fun sort of grinding so I didn't mind).

Also the 2 player co-op is a riot, my wife and I spent hours on it. Anyway, highly recommended, if you're even vaguely a fan of the genre then you owe it to yourself to play it.

I had quite a bit of fun with this game earlier this year.

I admit I didn't read all of that but Mamiya being the strongest person in the game? :lol Even if you want to go down the ranged-weapon route, Jaggi is better in basically every way (I can safely say this because I got the platinum and maxed out almost every character). Mamiya's specials are totally shit as well.

For what it's worth, I'd say Raou is the strongest, he can go toe-to-toe even with the giants and his combos are insane, which is why he unlocks last I guess. If you level up Toki enough he finally starts getting good but still kinda weak against bosses imo, combo pauses are ridiculous.

Love the demo, a pure unadulterated 80's action game, as it should be!
little reminders of God Hand here and there, cant wait for the full game now.

...Wish I had this a kid instead of Last Battle

and yeah Kenshiro = Mad Max+Stallone's face+Bruce Lee :D

I don't think it's a secret that the creator got a lot of his inspiration for Kenshiro from Mad Max/Bruce Lee which imo is an awesome mix.
Is any version better? Still deciding wether to pick this up now or wait for that special budget asian release in december which i was told would have all the dlc. Is it a lot of dlc? Because if it's only a few costumes then i don't really mind.

Its supposed to be $50 worth of costumes, new scenario's and a new character. from what I can gather. I'd wait for that version if I had a real choice but only reason I'm getting this game is B2G1 at target.

Yup. Although it is kinda weird how they have it split as p1 = left and p2 = right half of the screen versus top and bottom. I've been told that other recent Musou games were like that, but all the ones I've ever played (including Sengoku Musou 3) weren't like that.

I'm going to buy this when I get a chance. I haven't had much time to game or watch FOTNS. I got up until the start of the souther arc and then I stopped watching. I know I could read the manga, but I prefer seeing and hearing 'ATATATTATATATATAH!"

The anime is tons of fun and all, but I highly recommend reading the manga whenever you get a chance. There are lots of things here and there that were changed in the anime that are just much better in the manga (especially early on w/ Shin and the Golan). Plus, the pacing is much better because it doesn't have all the filler the anime does.

Any word yet if the Xbox port improved during the localization process? I hate to waste money on a PS3 version to deal with an inferior soundtrack.
Only if I can hack soundfiles on my 3.41 Slim if I get the game at Target later this week.
Does anybody have the NA PS3 release and can they get custom soundtracks enabled?

I am pumped about the game and I never owned or played a Dynasty Warriors extensively. Does anybody know how long the Roah campaign is since I loved Legend of the Dark Kings?

This game looks awesome and is true to the subject material. The only problem is it's fucking shit. Got to be the worst demo I have played in a long time. I'm happy this had a demo, it has cost the publishers sales but saved thousands of people from buying a shit game.

I have heard people who love the game, say the demo was a horrible presentation of the actual game. I never downloaded the demo, so I can't comment on that. However, in terms of the above applying to the actual game, I couldn't disagree more. The game is really damn good once you know how to play. At first it may seem slow and plodding, but once you learn the combat system, and start utilizing things like grab/jump/special/roll/dash canceling and whatnot, it gets really good. I think the gameplay has a nice satisfying flow to everything you can do and I love the way the main story mode plays out in terms of level structure, boss fights, and cinematics. Another thing I think is done really well is the level up system.

This thread on GameFAQs I saw last night has some good talk about the more advanced aspects of the combat system.
