Turns out cereal is pretty awesome fuel for a morning workout. Normally I try to get some eggs and wheat toast but I just ripped through my shoulder workout after a nice bowl of Frosted Flakes. Feels good man.

It was the sugar. I prefer an apple for my pre-workout.

So I bought some beef liver today. According to wolframalpha, you get 24g of protein for a 3 oz serving (85g). I will be cooking it sometime later this week. Anybody else ever try getting liver into their diet?

Over my dead body. I friggin' HATE liver. About the only thing I won't eat is liver and brussel sprouts. A very EX girlfriend tried to serve both to me once, and then got all insulted when walked away and ordered pizza.

I just had calves liver and onions in a fancy restaurant, still retains it's place as my last meal, if I was lucky enough to get advance warning of my time being up. Best liver ever.

Never had liver but that sounds like a good amount of protein. Apparently our hunter-gatherer ancestors used to eat everything from the muscle to organs to even bone marrow.

Are organs ate much in the States? I know Lamb isn't (I find that so bizarre, my absolute favourite meat).

Organs aren't really that common in most grocery stores in the states. They rarely keep the bones out for sale so I was really surprised when I just happened to walk by frozen section and there was a packet of beef liver so I figured why not. I've been meaning to have some since the protein content is so high and it's relatively cheap.

The key thing with liver is not to overcook it otherwise it gets very rubbery and isn't much fun to eat.

The Filipino market near my house sells brain. Never bought it though I've eaten sheep brain a few times and really like it. Preparing it myself would be something else though.

What does beef liver taste like? What is the preferred cooking method?

Should have just bought 5 cups of Chobani instead. Greek yogurt has about 17-20 grams of protein per cup. Eat two of those after a workout and you'll not hate yourself for buying liver.

I already have some chobani so I'm good on that front. I think the most common way is to just cook it is on a skillet. My plan is to just cook it with butter and onions. The last time I had liver was many years ago when my parents made some. I remember it being pretty flavorless with a really soft tofu like texture. I'm asian so I've had my fair share of weird foods so I think I'll be able to handle it.

Liver is great. A lot of old school lifters got pretty strong eating it all the time. Very high in fat soluble vitamins (like retinol/vitamin A, necessary for testosterone production) and minerals.

Sear in bacon grease or butter with shallots or onions, and don't overcook it. If you get good grass fed liver, you can do raw liver tartare.

Buy Fage instead of Chobani.
What's the difference, it's the same sort of ingredients. I find Chobani to be creamier tho

What can I mix greek yogurt with anyways, Ive been doing granola fruit and protein powder but I get really sick of it and kind of get a headache afterwards.

Hey guys, so I am looking to gain some weight. I am currently around 143 lbs and have been working out 3-4 times a week since early March of this year. I've been the same weight since. I see results, such as being more cut and toned but not big. Would adding whey protein to my diet help? Thanks.

Yes. But you probably need to more real whole foods as well.

Gotta be. Eating that crap everyday doesn't seem very healthy.

Yeah, but do you want "real results?"

Side note, carving pumpkins after shoulder day (and thus working on grip strength by default) sucks ass.

Have had no power for almost 24 hours (NY). Freezing here but I am going to the gym. Going to do an extended warm-up and then lift.

Coming back to this icebox and hoping there's still hot water will suck though.

I need help guys,

I am carrying quite a bit of fat around my torso and chest, I want to lean out, but even with all these nutrition classes, I still feel like I don't have a solid foundation to know what and how much I need of everything to really lean out my body.

Also when it comes to the gym, I find myself very overwhelmed over what muscles to work out what ways.

Can anyone help me build a solid workout routine schedules, and really get to number crunching as far as my caloric needs, deficits, and what I need to intake as far as my goals. Ex: 50g of protein a day, ect.

I am 159-161lbs, 18% body fat, I carry all my weight in my torso.

Any help would be really appreciated

Age: 24
Height: 5'9''
Weight: 160lbs
Goal: 6 lbs fat loss
Current Training Schedule: wide open, can only do after 3pm most days
Current Training Equipment Available: everything, gym downstairs
Comments: I've been told leaning out is 90% diet, I need help planning, and dismissing misinformation.

I also really wanna pick up yoga, the amount of body flexibility and control needed is REALLY interesting to me

Eating beef everyday can't be healthy either. I'd rather eat lean, white mean like chicken everyday.

I can get real results by eating healthy if I wanted to. Stubborn acne would flare up really bad if I ate more healthy carbs.

Serving Size 1 cup (253g)
Servings Per Container about 2
Amount Per Serving
Calories 250
Calories from Fat 80

% Daily Value*
Total Fat 9g 14%
Saturated Fat 3.5g 18%
Trans Fat 0g
Cholesterol 20mg 7%
Sodium 650mg 27%
Potassium 680mg 19%
Total Carbohydrate 31g 10%
Dietary Fiber 5g 20%
Sugars 8g

so 500 Cal <25g Protein and over 52g net carbs? Not to mention its processed beyond any recognition of being real food.

Leaning out is 90% diet, that's absolutely true. Working out is what makes you look good when your lean though. Theres a bunch of good work out routines in the op. I recommend just doing big compound lifts (squats, dead lifts, bench press, standing shoulder press, and different pull up/chin up variations) until you have a good foundation of strength. And by the time you do you will have a decent idea of what you want to get out of lifting and can choose a more advanced plan.

You're never gonna get beastly with that mentality.

Has anyone here ever had a muscle strain in their chest? If yea, how long did it take before you could lift again?

Small wiener?

Maybe it's that I went to basic training, but I've been in open shower gyms (YMCA) a lot more than privacy shower gyms (how my gold's gym is).

Just man up and wash your nuts, then get dressed.

The only bad thing about gym locker rooms/showers is the old men who strut around gossiping with their flappy old man nuts swinging like a metronome

I'm a grower not a shower. Regardless I just don't find it comfortable. It's hard enough for me to simply go on cam clothed.

Haha, ya, this one old dude walks around the locker room naked and always says, hey what's up? Instinctively I turn to look at him and then remember, oh ya, your shriveled up old dick is flopping around, why did I look. I almost bumped into him while turning the corner last week. Nothing like having to jump side step a naked old dude to get yourself in warm up mode.

lol, the funny thing is these old naked dudes are in every gym. Shit is like a gym staple.

Most people aren't going to be looking at your dick, and even if they are, who cares.

It isn't like you're gonna get raped dude. If they like what they see so much, take it as a compliment.

Showering in public isn't really social anxiety, most people fear it like public speaking. I'm more just giving you shit, but it's definitely something you can overcome.

Social anxiety is like what I have (had MUCH worse right after my second deployment) with my PTSD.

I fake social acceptance now in public, and even make myself appear socially outgoing when in reality I would rather lock myself in a room and have no interactions with anyone but my wife and son. I'm probably one of if not the most known guy in my criminal justice department among the professors and other students. And that's something that goes completely against my comfort zone.

If I can do that, you can shower next to a shriveled up nutsack. ;)

Just bring a towel with you to the shower so that when you get out you don't have to walk around naked. There's also the college dorm room trick of pulling up your underwear while you still have your towel around your waist, so that when you take off the towel you're already clothed. Boom, problem solved!

I am a pretty nervous guy too and I used to quite insecure about my really scrawny body (i'm 6"4' and 75kg/165lbs) but I just don't care about it any more. Nobody really gives a shit anymore, so I doubt guys at your gym would.

And if your paying for membership may as well use all of it and save your hot water.

I hurt my wrist when I fell off my bike over a week ago, and while its alot better than what it was it still hurts.

Most of the time when im pushing weights its ok, but usually when im twisting my wrist getting the weights onto my lap it kills and certains excerises hurt.

I havent been gym for 4 days(which is really long for me) I gotta get back into it, but I dont know what to do about my wrist.
