Just bring a towel with you to the shower so that when you get out you don't have to walk around naked. There's also the college dorm room trick of pulling up your underwear while you still have your towel around your waist, so that when you take off the towel you're already clothed. Boom, problem solved!
Shiiiiiit I've been doing that since 7th grade junior high after swimming in gym. The gym teachers taught us too but man I remember so many kids being terrible at it haha.

Of course I did this in college too.

I hurt my wrist when I fell off my bike over a week ago, and while its alot better than what it was it still hurts.

Most of the time when im pushing weights its ok, but usually when im twisting my wrist getting the weights onto my lap it kills and certains excerises hurt.

I havent been gym for 4 days(which is really long for me) I gotta get back into it, but I dont know what to do about my wrist.

Keep resting it. I had severe wrist pain, took a week completely off, and have skipped benching for a while and my wrists feel much better. It's only going to get worse if you abuse it while your wrists still hurt.

Hope you guys can help out with a question. I have been on Starting Strength for 4 weeks (Mon/Wed/Fri) now and everything has been going great. Unfortunately, next week I will be out of town from Saturday until Wednesday night with no access to a gym.

Any recommendations for that week? Should I try to get in a workout Wed night and Friday and call it a week?

Thanks

Missing one workout isn't going to kill you, just as long as you don't make it a habit.

In other news, saw my Dad for the first time in a while yesterday (last time I saw him his exact words were 'You're a right fat bastard!'. Yesterday he said Are you working out? You're really bulking up.'

Feels good, man.

Starting up my workouts again tomorrow.

Anyone have some good chest workouts? For some reason I can't seem to get any significant progress with my back or chest. Every other muscle group shoots up quickly and can push significant weight but these two areas for some reason lag behind like crazy.

Gaf, I'm finally hitting the gym again this Wednesday and I would like some recommendations for pre/post workout snacks. Something that's good for you, portable, and hopefully cheap?

Fruit before, protein shake after.

What's the difference, it's the same sort of ingredients. I find Chobani to be creamier tho

What can I mix greek yogurt with anyways, Ive been doing granola fruit and protein powder but I get really sick of it and kind of get a headache afterwards.

If I get tired of eating plain, I normally add some diced apples and a dash of cinnamon. You get a natural sugar and some nice flavor from the cinnamon.

I went to get my small lean muscle protein powder, but ive gone and bought a huge "serious mass" protein powder. Im not entirely sure what my intake of this sort of level calories and protein per day should be for this.

I fake social acceptance now in public, and even make myself appear socially outgoing when in reality I would rather lock myself in a room and have no interactions with anyone but my wife and son.

Completely off topic, but I'm curious. Do you find online interaction more within your comfort zone or do you fake that as well?

It's in my comfort zone, since there is no direct interaction.

Gotta eat big to get big.

In all seriousness, I see nothing wrong with it. You can eat beef everyday and be fine. Just depends on your goals. For me, my goal is to get bigger so I know that I will put on a few pounds. I've always had it easy when it comes to losing weight so I'm not too worried about it. Bulk until April. Lose it by July. wwwyki.

Damn Halloween, if there's one day to pig out on sweets it might as well be this one. Dammit. But all so tasty!
I had a couple Reece's Pieces cups yesterday during my post workout meal. I don't regret it. :)

I ate a pint of ice cream for a late-morning breakfast on Saturday. Had a banana milkshake yesterday. Both were 1,000 calories splurges that I don't regret one bit. Well, the milkshake was probably closer to 700 calories, but you get the idea.

So tonight I'm not eating a single bag of Skittles that I've bought for handing out to trick-or-treaters. I've had enough sweets for a week.

I'm probably gonna get some icecream and treat myself to successful cutting for two weeks. It's gonna last a week if it kills me tho.

It's a mix of stress at work, and just in general free food plus halloween.

Can't remember the last time I've really pigged out like this, so fuck it, I deserve it today.

Some places I follow on my fb seemed to be closing early yesterday. And I go to the Y and it's very kid-centered, so thought they might have some activities or something that might interfere with normal gym use.

First time at the gym in 3 weeks and I'm coming off a bad cold, every lift is down 40% I feel so weak.

Give it a week or two. You'll be back to where you were. Don't force it and build your way back up.

So yeah, changed my bench routine today. Gonna see how it pans out.

3x3 at 315 then two sets of 225 x 10

I'll hit chest again on later in the wee, probably with less weight and more reps, but not exceeding 10-12 reps.

Did today pretty easily, but still felt like a good workout. Will see how this works as I go.

OT: Some guy was dressed as pedobear today at the university, shit was pretty funny.

Bodyweight exercises will definitely give you gains, you just have to train them a certain way. Most routines involve cranking out a fuckload of reps instead of doing exercises that will actually provide a shitload of resistance like say one-arm pushups and pistols.

Did having no power motivate you to go to the gym? :)

I'm sorry for the offtopic, but... who's the guy from your avatar? He looks like somebody from 1930, yet... he has the kind of amazing body that today, you'd see in a Men's Health cover :)

EDIT: nvm, I found it :)

Yeah, I forced it a little bit towards the end and my arms were shaking uncontrollably
ha.

The lack of any real back pain motivated me, the loss of power was expected but it's really shocking to see such a sharp loss in only 3 weeks.

When doing squats with a barbell do you count the weight on both sides or just the weight on one side?
Only the weight on the bar plus the bar. Don't count the plates on the side of the rack.

Total weight.

Dude, think for a second. Why in the world would the weight number on a plate be indicative of a set pair of weight? That makes no god damned sense.

That number is the weight of the plate.

Dumbbells are stamped with the weight of the dumbbell, etc.

Machines get a bit tricky depending on what they are for, but TBH machines are a waste of time unless you need to use the assisted pullup/dip machine. (my opinion of course)

There's also the fixed weight bars for curls and lighter presses and those will have the weight stamped on the ends but those are almost always the weight stamped. So if it says 50 lbs, the whole thing is 50 lbs, not each "plate."

They'll usually be in a rack like this:

But for the regular plates that you attach to the bar yourself, assume the plate weighs what it says it weights. You might ask someone how much the bar is, but you can assume it's around 45 lbs. Might range from 35-45 in some places.

Only machine I really don't mind using is the leg curl but only as an assistance exercise.

Machines are kosher so long as they are used for assistance work and not the focal point of a training day. And usually more for muscle hypertrophy. For instance, I'll use the leg press on occasion because I can't squat 415lbs for two sets of fifteen. But before I use the leg press I'll have done my barbell squats, pistols squats and good mornings.
