Another great day for squats for me, 325 3x5.

Guy next to me noticed my belt before I started and said "Elite FTS, people see that and they expect a lot!"

I explained to him I just didn't wanna blow my back out again, haha.

Dude ended up being ex Army infantry like me. Pretty cool dude.

If I'm eating at home I will make soft scrambled most of the time but hardboiled is perfect for making a carton at once and eating them throughout the week.

Sunnyside up is my real fave but ideally you need something to soak up the yolk.

I put mine over hashbrowns. I used to do that shit with my Army breakfast (when I actually got to eat hot chow.)

Any videos or articles I can read about Pendlay Rows?

Uh, I just posted one earlier.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=33831907&postcount=8818

Yeah I do. I guess that would work. By the way what are the benefits of doing rows this way?

It nails more of your back. I feel it a lot more when I do it this way. I also do 3 sets of wide grip "regular" bent over rows too to hit my rear delt.

Interesting note: It seems Combine has given up posting in this thread. Guess it's back to game land for him.
What was the point in posting in this thread when all that awaits me is ridicule and scorn? It sure sounded like I wasn't welcome in here anymore. Especially by the giant douche above

Workout days with both squat and deadlift just beat my body to hell.
I feel like I got in a car wreck but on the bright side I got PB on deadlift at 355x4.
I did 310x5 on the squat and almost back to PB of 315 after I deloaded for 3 weeks on squats to get the form down better.

I was searching for some bench press videos on youtube and found this beauty:

the top rated comment just makes it.

The guy at the beginning?

It looks like it's touching to me, and definitely not like what's in that other video.

Yeah if you watch the "so you think you can bench" videos they go through the process of how to find the form that fits you. Obviously the guy in the video posted was trying to imitate powerlifters but didn't know how to properly do it. I just wanted to point out it wasn't as outlandish as it seemed.

Oh, I know, I get that. I'm more wondering about ass touching being a rule for powerlifting. I'm pretty sure it is though. Hips are supposed to remain low and the ass should never be completely off the bench. I could be all fucked up on that though, but that's how I bench.

Holy shit, what kind of damage was done there?

Not sure, but I definitely think he broke his ribs. You can hear it, unless that's someone else breaking a series of bones.

No reason, it just seems like the payoff is bigger since it's more difficult. I always feel it the next day if I do one-legged (60 times for each leg, with my body weight only).

What is SS?

BTW I got myself a caloric counter app. I have to consume around 2500 calories a day to gain 5 lbs in a bit over a month. It might seem like not much, but holy shit, I calculated what I had for breakfast and I feel like I'd have to over-eat to get there. For breakfast I had a cup of yogurt + banana + whey protein powder + oatmeal with molasse + two carrots and that's only 660 cal. I have 1770 to go. Even if I eat the whole scallops package for lunch (350g, has like 70g of proteins and around 400 calories), and a large salmon fillet for dinner, even with salads and whatnot, I'll probably be short of 600 cal at least :(

I can add an avocado and all, but it feels like I have to over-eat to get to 2500.

I can't eat cereals (no gluten), and can't eat eggs due to an allergy. I used to eat whole wheat bagels regularly and that helped to maintain my weight but that's not possible anymore. Gluten gives me acne and digestion problems/bloating/etc. Nuts are extremely expensive. I can't consume too much dairy, I don't digest it very well.

Ok so it turns out, once I eat my dinner later tonight, I will have managed to consume 2500 calories.

Here is what I have (and will) eat for today:

Breakfast
1 cup of yogurt
Banana
Oat Meal with molasses

Lunch
350g of scallops
Avocado
Three slices of bacon (natural bacon, no nitrite, I recommend it)
Two carrots

Dinner
Large salmon fillet
Feta cheese
Olive oil (around two tablespoons)
Cucumber (pretty much 0 calories in there though)

That gives me 2500 calories.

I definitely need to find some place that sells nuts for cheap, that will help round things out here and there, especially if I eat at work where my choices are limited.

Any other food recommendations I should consider? Remember: no gluten (no cereals), no eggs, limited dairy consumption (no milk).

I bench to build my chest so I try to not have much of an arch.

The arch doesn't keep you from working your chest. My chest is incredibly sore after my bench sessions.

From what I've seen/read it's actually proper form to keep an arch, especially at heavier weight.

It's when the arch gets fucking crazy that it's limiting your ROM far too much and is basically cheating.

I believe it's even a point in SS. I don't have the book, but I remember someone quoting out of it about maintaining a proper arch through your bench.

I just turned on my speakers and ugh, you're right, that definitely sounds like he broke his ribs.

I only have a natural arch that forms from tightening my back. But really even if you keep your feet planted that will make your chest work less, of course you are still working your chest out but you are using more muscle groups to help. I don't lift with my feet in the air or anything like that but that would definitely work your chest out more.

'All that awaits me is ridicule and scorn'. Poetic.

Please don't quote him, some of us have him on ignore, it's better that way. If you're going to reply to him please just say @combine or some other such thing.

I'll understand if you don't want to, I'm just asking nicely. :)

Wow, you just keep one-upping your own level of douchiness. Thanks for proving my point all the same.

Perhaps, like I said, I'm just going off of what I've been seeing/reading. I do pay more attention to powerlifting stuff than body building stuff (which I think you do the more body building stuff) so there would be a difference there.

I wonder what the real answer is on the subject. I just know it feels right now.

Sorry, I've been away for a while, not up to date on Combine etiquette ;)

So uh yeah... FITNESS!

This is my routine, I stick to it pretty rigidly:

Monday:

Pushups x 90 (30 each in three different hand positions)
Squats/deep knee bends x 50
Bicep curls (free weights 10kg) x50
Dumbell shrugs - x50
Plank/Two-point-box - 2mins/x50

Tuesday:

Jump-rope 5 minutes
20 minute routine on heavy punch bag

Thursday:

Good morning x50
Dumbell Bent over row x50
Dumbell Fly x50
Lunge x50
Crunches/leg raises x50

Friday - repeat Tuesday

Would appreciate any tips/thoughts. It seems to keep me pretty ripped, though without going to the gym (fuck membership fees) I can't bulk up with the heavier weights. Also need to lay off the fucking ice cream my dad keeps buying :p

^ @combine lozzlelzozlzoezl.

What are your goals, lopaz?

My goals! Eeh, mainly aesthetics. The punch bag stuff I've incorporated so I can avoid getting intimidated by muscle douchebags in clubs when I'm trying to mack. I need to know I could kick an ass or two if needs be (I'm 5'7). Yeh mainly in it for the poon :)

Funny, I've been having great training sessions with my coach as of late. But since no one wants to hear about that. Fine.

If you just came in here and said "hey guys added 15 lbs to lift x and another 5 lbs to lift y, feeling good." people would be happy for you. But instead you make posts like these and the other ones in the thread. Change the way you post and people will react to you differently.

Fasting...

Please tell me it gets easier.

You doing 16/8? It's been pretty easy for me.

Bullshit. I used to make posts like that, but then it would always become "oh, that's not good enough" or "damn, that's weak" or "your training sucks". No matter how I felt about it. The biggest issue is I honestly don't give a shit about my numbers. I know that's tantamount to sacrilege around here (not to mention the whole cultish feeling regarding Rippetoe being some kind of messiah of fitness), but I feel happy after completing a hard workout. Sure I know comparatively my numbers are nothing compared to everyone else's here, but I'm not going to feel bad about that, no matter how much you want to belittle me about it.

Im on week 2 and a half, and now I can go 23 hours without food and workout if I need to. It gets easier as long as you stick to it and drink lots of water, the only reason Im coming off it is to do sprint work in the next week or so.

I think you are misremembering. It came to that after you kept insisting that something was wrong with you and that you couldn't improve. There were plenty of people that tried to help you and it just went downhill after you wouldn't improve your attitude towards training.

Both my previous coach and my current coach (olympic weightlifters) have told me that at the start, I was pretty damn weak and didn't have a good foundation of strength and stamina compared to most normal people. The problem was people telling me it should be easy and it wasn't "Oh, you should be able to lift this weight then" "how come you can't lift this weight" "oh, you're not really feeling pain".

I don't know how you guys do that fasting stuff shit just seems weird to me.

It's weird at first, and there are times during the day where you will feel like you're lacking energy but you get over it quick. My waist is getting smaller and smaller, while I have only dropped 2lbs most people who see me say it's a noticeable difference, and most importantly all my lifts are either the same or going up.

The biggest issue is your physical fortitude, but rather, your lack of mental fortitude for letting us come and lay waste your mood. The program, any well deisgned LP program, works well with proper form and diet; you have neither. The biggest complaint I had was your constant belief that your body was dissolving like an alka seltzer tablet every other day.

If you did your best, you did your best, and no one can take that away from you. On the flip side, that doesn't mean we can't comment on your progress (or there of.) Like you were really happy that you increased your back squat by 10 lbs over a year, then that's yours. However, regardless of that, I would think that's pretty slow and crappy progress. The real issue is why my/ the thread's opinion means so much to you?
