Two weeks of PT behind me. We are upping weekly exercises to 4 this week

Mon - squat/deadlift/run/core - with PT
Wed - spinning
Thu - row
Friday - boxing/sparring - with PT

He's saying we won't hit the scale until at least another 2 weeks of now. So I have no idea how my weight loss is going - he's keeping an eye on my food diary though.

Last week DOMS was mad, this week seems much better. I will be able to walk normal.

I really couldn't care less about hogging shit. If
you want to work in, ask. Don't expect me to ask you though as you mope around.

Last week I was doing decline situps and a guy asked if he could work in. Me being a nice guy I said sure. Then he brings over his 2 buddies and they turn it into a decline bench-o-rama. Made me question my niceness. Not sure how people can be so unaware of what seems like basic etiquette to me

That's fucked up. Can I work in? Not can we work in.

Huge difference. That's why I just tell then that I'll be done soon. They can do something else in the meantime.

Hmm, review aggregator Consumer Search specifically points out the Lifespan TR200 and the Horizon Fitness Evolve SG as compact alternatives in it's budget treadmill roundup. They're both under $700, and they both get generally favorable customer reviews on Amazon.com. And none of the models in the under $800 price range have the ridiculous looking consoles the many of the most recommended higher priced treadmills have.

But that compactness and price point come with drawbacks. The machines use low powered motors with low top speeds (8 MPH for the Lifespan and 6 MPH for the Horizon), and they both have very small belts. Those two things combined make it difficult to recommend either of them for regular jogging. The Horizon Fitness brand offers a 1 year warranty on electronics and motor (long for this price range, but short if you went $500 higher), while Lifespan only offers 90 days.

Overall though, for budget machines, Consumer Search recommends another, larger treadmill from Horizon Fitness called the Horizon Fitness T101. It is quite a bit larger, but that allows for a meatier motor (2.25 HP), wider belt and frame, and sturdier chassis. So you can actually run occasionally on this thing, no sweat. It also comes with an automatic incline, if that's something that's important to you. And, for space saving purposes, I think it's foldable.
Thanks for your input.
I guess the idea of a nice streamlined jogging machine just doesn't exist. They require a certain heft to be reliable.

They were doing you a favor helping you avoid doing situps.

If you're gunna be on there a while it's nice to let them know though.

I always rerack my weights and clear my area when I'm done. I hate it when someone asks if I'm done and I tell them i am then ask what weight they want. Then some fuckers leave their weights when they're done. Or they can't be bothered to bend down to put the weight on the right spot on the rack so the top looks like this;

5-10-5-25-45

Smfh. My OCD makes me have to fix the weights between sets. It's not just stupid, it's fucking dangerous you dimwits.

Can someone link a youtube video of a perfect deadlift? I need visual aid and some of the videos I'm looking at focus on slightly different things. Would like a video that is unanimously agreed upon as the correct form. Just a normal deadlift, nothing fancy.

Hmm, I'm not sure what the point in getting strained yogurt over unstrained yogurt is if you're adding milk to it. The whole point was that they're taking the whey out. And when they do that the product has less calories (and more protein per serving) than an unstrained 3% fat yogurt.

But if you're adding milk (basically readding the whey, carbs, and milkfat), can't you just save a little money, and add a little more plainjane yogurt than you were before?

It's a protein shake, and Greek yogurt has more protein than plain-jane yogurt. Plus it's always on sale for 99 cents at one of the 6 local groceries that surround me every week.

What I don't understand is a lot of you have this near phobia of carbs and fat. Our body needs both everyday and if you moderate each you're going to be fine. I'm not saying eat 4 bowls of pasta everyday but there's a reason why carbohydrate loaded snacks are a go to for an athlete before and after a workout. You don't want to be falling asleep during the middle of your workout, and you don't want to be dead afterward.

I have one for my office since I didn't check to make sure it would fit on any of my door frames. It works just as you would expect it to work.

How should I check to make sure it would work?

And which one do you have .. just the standard model such as this THIS one?

Obviously, but even then it's just splitting hairs. Yes you should eat more whole grains, but if you eat white bread in moderation and try to keep it to a minimum your still getting carbs.

It's kind of odd actually how after the whole Atkin's Diet craze it seems like any carb is a bad carb. For instance, I bartend at a local catering hall and the other night a girl around my age asks for a screwdriver (vodka and OJ). One of her friends walks up to her, gasps and says, "You're drinking OJ! Don't you know that has so many carbs in it!!!" The girl immediately asks for a Diet Coke because it's calorie free and has no carbs.

In the back of my head I'm like WTF? Yeah OJ has a lot of carbohydrates, but it also has a lot of Vitamin C and a good amount of Vitamin A, something that Diet Coke has near nothing of. Then later on, she comes back to the bar and asks if we have any Diet Orange Soda. I say yes and then she tries to explain to me that Diet Orange Soda has no carbs or sugars and it still has orange in it so it's better for you than orange juice. I just smile and nod, but this basically confirms to me that a lot of people truly believe that carbs are terrible for you.

Next people will say stop eating certain fruits because they have too much sugar.

Bad for your back and don't sufficiently work your abs, apparently. That's what I've read.

Yep, plus doing a squat and a standing shoulder press do more for you abs than a situp will ever do.

Yeah I have the one you linked. I don't have the exact dimensions but if your frame is thicker or the top edge is higher than the normal then it won't fit. I live in an old apartment building from back in mid 1800s so they have different sizing.

I bought this one for the neutral grip.

Fits conveniently in residential doorways 24 to 34 inches wide, with 3.5-inch trim/molding

Just make sure your door frame is that size and it should be fine. It did leave black scuff marks on my frame, but nothing some touch up paint won't fix.

What's your take on a cup of Welch's grape juice in the morning + 1/2 cup of oatmeal + whey isolate (<shake<) + 3 egg whites as a breakfast?

That juice has a lot of natural sugar in, it shouldn't be bad for a "breakfast" meal right?

Are you following any certain diet? Trying to lose weight or bulk? Workout day or not?

Certain diet (followed 100% to the letter), let me find the shit I take so you take a look lol.

I mean my main question would be why can't people take some sugar at all, seems to be frowned upon. Doesn't the body need some?

I'm not scared of carbs. I assume that comment is to me. But for $1.19 a cup I'd rather pick a yogurt with more protein is all.

I don't count macros or calories even

What yogurt would you recommend that has more protein?

EDIT:

And that comment wasn't directed towards you, just a general statement after Lenox commented on my shake.

Thanks everyone, the Iron Gym looks like a good cheap way to do pull-ups, but what I REALLY want is a stand like shown in THIS (YouTube) video (for the product I bought actually) where I can easily use my suspension straps.

The most ideal way for me to do pull-ups is on the suspension straps because they're completely free and loose.

300 pounds rated on the Iron Gym should be enough as I am 190 now and even if I gain to 200 I doubt I will be doing more than 75 pounds around my waste for reps.

Though I'm sure a stand like that would cost hundreds of dollars so it may not be worth it. Or maybe I could build one, but I've never built anything like that before.

Right. And the reason why it has more protein is because they took whey out. But with the milk, you're basically putting it back it. I just thought that it might be better for your purposes to save a step, maybe save money, and use unstrained yogurt.

But if you find it on sale, then you might be saving money your way.

Planks. Squats. OHP. Deadlifts.

All far superior ab workouts without the harshness on your spine.

All of those place a load on the spine, the squat and deadlift even more so considering the poundages been used.

Fruit juice is shit. Sorry, fellas, but it's really just sugar water after it's been processed. Why not eat some real fruit with all the fiber that comes with it?

Carbs are bad, but apparently the fucking vodka is a-okay.

Hey folks,
the wife wants a treadmill for jogging, walking and maybe the occasional sprint but, after looking into it for a little while, we realized that they're all so damn bulky with giant silly consoles.

What's wrong with the great outdoors?

It isn't about the load, it's about the unnatural strain crunches put on the spine. Your body isn't designed for that, it is designed for motions like squats and deadlifts.

The spine is designed to bend though

You don't want to put constant stress on it though. Doing situps is not the best exercise for you abs. As I and everyone else have stated, doing squats, standing military presses, planks, and leg raises are a much better workout for you abdominal muscles.

Makes intuitive sense. Then again, I have a finite amount of squats and deadlifts in me too.

Yes, but your body is literally designed for those motions. Picking things up, lifting things off the ground. Your body is not designed to lay down that way and pull yourself up in that manner. As the article goes into, it puts a ton of stress on the weakest part of your back, and there are simply better ways to work your abs and core.

If they work for you, more power to you, just be aware you're probably taking a few years of usefulness away from your spine long-term.

How am I going to bring out the cuts then?

Had one of those days where I just felt stronger today and it turned out I was. I ate a ton last night and it certainly helped. Weighed in at 185 this morning and got 130s on flat bench DB press 8 times and 245 6 times on BB incline. Always enjoyable to have a day like that.

Deadbeef, I am no where near a 6 pack, but I do take a shirtless picture of myself everyday to track progress. Doing an ab routine never really did much and always just made my stomach area sore the next day. Doing heavy, compound lifts this past month has slimmed my midsection down more than any of that stuff.

Lol I'm just fucking with you guys. I've been doing squats, deadlifts, and GMs for years. I don't see anything wrong with doing some situps every now and then for some accessory ab work though. Interesting article though, thanks!

Yeah, no situps for me. My back can be delicate, so I always make sure to overstretch it, over and over. Feels great right now.

You guys fell for dead messing with you? lol

I've had two guys now tell me I should do a "show." It takes every ounce of my being not to make fun of them. My favorite reply is, "what do I get for being the strongest? Oh, well I lift to be strong and healthy."
