1650 for calories with a 3-5 mile run seems a bit extreme.

However, if you want to lose weight, HiiT is going to be far better than running distance.

Drink coffee and green tea, no sugar.

I don't know how many calories you should eat since you didn't say how much you weigh.

High intensity interval training. Essentially you sprint as fast as you can for 45 seconds or so, walk/jog for like a minute or 2, then repeat for 5 or 6 cycles. There's more to it but that's essentially the gist of it.

I drink a cup of coffee when I wake up on my workout days and green tea during the days that I don't workout. These will help, but just a tiny amount. Diet pills don't help, just change your diet.

I wouldn't bother running every day. As others have suggested, HIIT is awesome. I use hill sprints or stadium steps the vast majority of the time. Three or four times a week would work well without burning you out. If you do run, just stick to 3-4 times a week, or substitute one or more of those days with HIIT.

I drink 2-4 cups of green tea every morning on an empty stomach. Don't know how much it helps fat burning but it keeps the hunger at bay until I break my fast at noon. Have you looked into intermittent fasting at all?

Just checked the scale for the second time in a few days and I am at 185lbs (5'8). That's up from 175 earlier this year, after focusing on weight lifting and doing StrongLifts the past several weeks. I've gained a little bit of fat around the midsection but it's barely noticeable. Still more fat than I'd like to have, it's no beach body. This is the most I've ever weighed since I started exercising 8 and a half years ago when I was tired of being pudgy. Jesus I wonder if I'll hit 190 soon...

MJ I'd go easy with recomending IF to everyone who wanders in here. We don't recommend advanced routines to beginners, no need to do the opposite for diets.

I definitely wouldn't recommend any of the programs like Leangains or Cheatmode (not the least of reasons being there's no heavy lifting in this scenario), but fasting for 14-16 hours every day shouldn't be a problem should he be healthy and choose to explore that option. Besides, 7-10 hours of that is made up from sleep and many people don't eat between dinner and breakfast for twelve hours, making the fast an additional 2-4 hours of not eating from what they are going to do anyways. Drinking coffee and tea during this time makes it even easier. It's certainly not for everyone, but it's an awesome option.

The first link on weight loss is the most pertinent. But if his diet is on point and he doesn't have any health issues, fasting shouldn't be considered advanced. Hundreds of millions of Muslims abstain from all food and all drink from dusk until dawn for an entire month. That's advanced.

I've been so bad with keeping up with my Fitness RSS feeds. I have about 110 blog posts and articles queued up to read but haven't gotten around to it.

I think I follow too many people and it's becoming overwhelming keeping up.

I take Craze and never had any crazy dreams. I've had trouble falling asleep if I work out within like 3-4 hours of sleeping. Then I smoke some weed and it feels AMAZING

Continued my StrongLifts program after a 2 week break today. Squats, OHP, deads. FUCKING WIPED ME OUT. I should have deloaded. Wow I was beat as fuck. Have to do all of them again next time.

What are some way to speed up muscle growth without anything illegal? My workouts are solid, I am seeing growth, and I am eating sensibly and I do protien shakes. I feel like I'm missing something though. Probably just a feeling.

Eat more, other than that, you need to be patient. Instant gratification isn't the name of the game.

I've had some bad pain behind my right shoulder blade for about a week now that I only really feel after benching and doing dips. It also hurts a bit when I take deep breaths. Anything I can do besides take aspirin and hope for the best? Really want to work chest again tomorrow, but not if it's going to make things worse.

I never know if I'm supposed to work through the pain lol.

I've been taking it and no whacked out dreams here. However if I dose it too close to sleep I find it really difficult to sleep, and I wake up multiple times during the night and generally have a really restless sleep.

It's an OK pwo, but I prefer the simplicity of Jack3d or Mesomorph.

Any opinions on this stuff, since we're talking pre-workout drinks?

Roommate had it, tried some, found it to be effective and have used it the last couple weeks but opinions are always welcome.
Didn't think it was too great personally. Scoops were HUGE too, so it was really thick in the water, and not pleasant to drink.

Pwos I've tried: jack3d, mesomorph, dymatize xpand, craze, mp assault, sl maniac and the 'best' is probably mesomorph, followed by jack3d. the only real problem I have with Mesomorph is the lower servings per container and it's more expensive.

Stop doing dips. Switch to light dumbbell presses if you really want to work chest this week. Also make sure you're strengthening your rotator cuff outside of compound lifts, doing things like scarecrows, internal/external rotations, cuban rotations, etc.

If it hurts to breathe I'd probably see a doctor tbh.

It hurts when you are breathing? Go to a doctor, dont be stupid.

Thanks; I'll give mesomorph a go sometime soon because yes, the Pharm Assault stuff is vile to actually drink. Makes me feel like a monster when I'm working out though, which probably means it's going to kill me in a few months.

Eat more protein and try creatine.

Is it best to use this stuff only when you're feeling a little off your game / low on energy? I can imagine becoming adjusted to them pretty quickly.
 
I'm going on a vegetarian diet but I'm also doing some p90x and weightlifting. Any recommendations on high protein veggie diets????
Good luck, the high-protein vegetables are also loaded with carbs. Beans and lentils are good sources of proteins, but lentils are like 60 grams of carb per 100 gram and 25 grams of protein. Could also try hemp, which has 30 grams of protein per 100 gram.

Are you trying to lose weight or build muscle? If you're trying to build muscle, don't worry too much about carbs. I'm not on a vegetarian diet but one thing I've been eating a lot of is rice and beans, and that's a good and healthy source of protein.
 
I use 2 scoops and I get no effects whatsoever.

I use it. Works great for me. Doesn't make me feel crazy like jack3d, just gives me uber focus and intensity. Never had side effects and it doesn't make me crash.

There are a ton of people that seem to have side effects from it though like nausea, blurred vision, etc.

I use 2 scoops.

i just started using c4 again (old stuff i've had since october probably), the monday and today, and boy the workouts have gone great. didn't get the stupid itchy feeling, but beasted my lifts. placebo effect or w/e it is great.

benched 160 today - only increasing by 5lbs a workout since i'm doing it 3x a week.

squatted 295 today - my 1rm was 305 in high school. amazing how much stronger i've gotten in 2 years with only 6 months (less probably) of working out. also, i used a belt for this that i borrowed from a dude who works at the gym, and i think it helped tons. hopefully 305 on friday.

pressed 115 today - this is what i got stuck at last time i pressed (forever and a day ago) and struggled a shit ton on the last rep, but i got it. 117.5 next week here i come! lol

What are you doing going up 10lbs on squat and 2.5lbs on press??

What? You don't feel any extra energy? I don't see how thats possible with 2 scoops.

Traded my friend a mouse for his pull up bar. I just do a quick set of 5 every once in a while when I walk through my door. Pretty convenient little thing.
