We are being too general here as there is no real context. When I was at that size, I was skinny and had no muscle, even though I thought I did. I look better now at 220 then I did at 195.

Oh I am pretty sure I will too but I look at a guy like T.O. that is 6'2 220 and he is super ripped. So it's just a shock that 30 lbs is that much of a difference. Even when it comes to big muscle, low body fat guys.

I guess being 5'11" at 200lbs makes me obese.

Weight doesn't really matter. If you're looking for tone, never go by the scale. You want to lose as much fat as you can, while still keeping all your muscles.

You can always look better no matter what you currently are.

6'2 and 192 is not sickly no matter what.
This is sickly.

Anyone tried these stimulants like Jack3d? I've been seriously overworked lately and figured it would be a good bet to be able to just drink some of that and at least have the energy to start my workout... only problem is, every time I've used it I've ended up crashing massively about half way through. That's not an exaggeration either, the last half hour last night I was having to stop after every exercise just to get the energy back to have a go at the next one.

When I don't use it (on not particularly tired nights) I struggle to start, but once I'm into it, it's just fine right until, and past, the end. I know the answer is obviously not to bother with it... but I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. Maybe another product (like Mesomorph) which might work better?

Edit - ARGGH, GOLLUM.

I've never used Jacked. I use Muscle Pharm Assault prior to my workout. I make sure I have a quarter of a bottle left that way if I start to feel tired, I drink what I have left and I'm good for the rest of the workout.

Say what?! Something has to be off. I am not even close to that size and just weighed in at 195. In high school I was 165 and still was not that bad. Is this real life?

Edit: nevermind.. wrong pic

Edit2: on 2nd pic... Yep I have about the same body build and I don't think that looks sickly at all. But what do I know.. Goes to show I still have a ways to go. At least by Gaf's standards.

Fair enough. You gotta be happy with what you have. I wasn't at the time so I continued to change.

I don't think I will ever be happy lol.

The very, very best metal pads were as good as the arcade... because they were basically what the arcade cabinets used anyway.

I can also vouch for DDR for quality cardio. I used it for years and was in great shape at the time. :)

The most expensive I've tried is the Cobalt Flux, which were around $350 IIRC. I wouldn't call those anywhere close to arcade perfect, even if I leave out the difference of bar vs no bar.

I also tried a few of the $150-200 range "metal" pads with bars that felt like they would crumple if I tried to stomp super hard.

I've seen pads in the $600-1000 range but those were literally the exact pads used on the arcade machines, probably meant to be replacements. I don't think they had interfaces for PCs or consoles. I also don't see them for sale anywhere anymore (they'd be ideal for me, because I could use a computer with Stepmania and load up whatever songs I wanted, and would be easier to transport than an entire cabinet).

True. Yea man you must be pretty big now.. How long did it take to get to 220? And what are you lifting these days? Sorry if I missed it earlier..

Took around a little less than a year. I'm in the process of losing fat. Was the biggest at 230. Trying for around 210 by July before bulking up again in the fall. I've always been the one to focus on strength, but right now, my goal is size. Last time I checked...

Squat - 315 1x8
Bench - 255 1x8
OHP - 170 1x6
Deadlift - 395 1x8

Prolly can do more but I haven't really tried since my injury in February. Tore a tendon in my finger. Finger is pretty much healed now but I am doing more of a BB type of routine. DBs and whatnot.

So it's payday tomorrow, which means that I will be ready to put my money where my mouth is and make an attempt at a diet change.

Age: 34 in 2 weeks' time
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 115kg
Goal: weight/fat loss
Current Training Schedule: n/a
Current Training Equipment Available: my mum is buying me these dumbbells for my birthday

I've posted on here a few weeks previously (and got a lot of flak because of my wishy-washy excuse type attitude) but I decided I definitely want to commit to doing something. I have plenty of soup and noodles in the cupboard so if the cooking fails horribly at least I should not starve.

Previously people posted random lists of items and generic 1-day menu suggestions, but what I need now is some sort of idea of a complete menu for a whole week's worth of meals, plus a shopping list of the exact ingredients needed to make it happen. I have folded all the food related budgets together and for a week's worth of meals I will have £32 available, this needs to include work lunches as well as home breakfasts and dinners for the full 7 days.

EDIT: note, the actual diet will begin Saturday morning as I won't be able to go to Tesco to purchase items until Friday evening.

Interesting, I guess I could split it in a similar way.

Thanks for the informative OP. I'm not really looking for particular lifting advice right now as I have some slightly odd constraints (not much time, gym not an option). But in the last year I've started running rather hardcore (probably 40 miles a week on average) and I'm actually getting a bit sad about how much muscle I'm melting off in the process. Comes with the territory I know, but I really need to get some strength training back into the mix.

Sadly with the gym out options are somewhat limited. I'm picking up a couple of the books listed in the OPs bodyweight section and I'll see if I can put together a doable program from that. I'll report back here if I can actually get it going well.

Dude, go buy a huge stack of chicken breasts, sautee or bake or grill or whatever them, add some rice or beans or whatever the hell you want because you're trying to build mass, and run with it. Have steak instead of chicken, or some turkey, or a ham, maybe some spare rib, a pot roast, rotisserie pork tenderloin, etc. If you need every single ingredient for every meal for an entire week listed out for you, you're way overthinking getting in shape.

You're also 34. Your mom buying you dumbbells isn't going to do shit, get a gym membership and follow a real plan.

Nothing wrong with working out at home. That's what I do, but I have a squat rack, benches, 700lbs of barbell plates, and dumbbells from 5-125. You are definitely going to need more than those dumbbells to get started. If you have time to go to a gym, it is surely a better option than trying to workout with those.

I started off with those. I now have 8 sets of them because I got so sick of swapping the discs... and yeah, I know, buying the quick adjust ones would have been smarter, but at the time it seemed like a huge amount of money.

BEST IN THE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORLD!

That looks delicious.

I will now head home and eat some eggs and fish. No where near as good as that BBQ chicken.

Another DDR player! I played a lot in high school and it really helped my agility and defense in basketball. It was also great cardio. My friends and I would play for hours and switch back and forth after sets of 3 songs, so it was more like HIIT.

I'm a snob though and won't play at home because even the most expensive pads just aren't that good. I definitely want to buy a machine at some point. Unfortunately, I left for college and stayed after graduation and now the closest arcade to me that has DDR is 30 min away.

Aaaand that's probably enough nerdiness for this thread.

I just stopped caring about score and look at it as a pure cardio experience these days. I used to be highly competitive, traveled all over for tournaments, etc. Big doubles player around the CNY area, but nowadays I ignore score and use some ITG pads I mounted to plywood, and covered with hardwood floor covering. Work pretty well along with Stepmania.

FallingEdge, I hate to break it to you but you might have a muscle dysmorphic disorder, also known as bigorexia/fatorexia. Good thing the end result is a swole body at your current pace.

Fuck. Just got hit by a car on my 2nd ride on my newly finished bike. Front tire is fucked, so my idea of mandatory cardio from riding to and from the gym is out. Also, I don't know if I want to go to the gym tonight cause my shin is throbbing. Fuckers need to pay attention when driving.

You need to file an accident report, if you didn't already. I hope you got the license or make/model of the car.

Man I need to grill more. I know what I'm doing tomorrow!

My Patio Caddie has to be in my top 10 purchases of all time

Charbroil-Patio-Caddie-Grill-Surface.jpg

Big enough to cook 3 or 4 pounds of meat but small enough to fit in a tiny area. Mine's 8 years old and lights like it's new. So good.

LOL, no. They were like "I'm sooo sorry, I'm sooo sorry, are you okay?" and I just picked up my biked and walked away. Too late now, I guess.

Wait..6'2 195lbs is sickly thin?! Wow..didn't know I was in that catergory.. haha

I think you misunderstood me. I looked pretty sickly and thin at 6'3 195lbs, but I have a pretty large frame. The other guy was aiming to get down to 170lbs - I was saying that, even if he had a small frame, I can't imagine he'd look good at that weight.

Great numbers, bud. I'm incredibly jealous of your bench and ohp. I have a messed up shoulder which makes for very slow progress on those lifts. It sucks.

Sucks, man....... hope you're not hurt bad.

Probably better if you skip the gym tonight.

Did 7 reps of 225 on my 3rd set of bench tonight. Means I'm getting close to 300 1rm. Fuck yeah.

Only got 4 reps of 320 deadlift. =(

Yeah, I quickly assessed the front rim and somehow in my weird state didn't notice that it was bent to shit and thought it was okay. I was just too pissed off to even want to deal with the situation, and I was okay and I thought my bike was okay so I just walked off to my bank a half block away. I was already pissed cause it started pouring rain out of nowhere and that was just the icing on the cake. My bad.

Guys,

I'm out of whey and my resupply doesn't arrive till tomorrow. I went out and bought a couple of these:

NUTRAMENT%20BANANA.jpg

My friends are saying it's really bad for me. I know 16g of protein aint the best but as a temporary move, will I die or be fine with this?

It has 50g of sugar/carbs!

I think I heard there's some protein in this thing called meat. Chicken or beef. Maybe tuna. I wouldn't trust them though.

I kid. I kid. It probably wont kill you but it's pretty unnecessary considering there are w

I'd suggest you get a pull up bar (something like this) too if you're determined to work out at home and also give this post a read.

Well I'm about 5'11 and at the end of November I weighed roughly 193lbs. Just before I flew out to Miami in March I weighed about 180lbs and felt like shit at how small I had become.. Though it was quite nice to fit into my trousers/jeans that I hadn't worn in months again.

If you need every single ingredient for every meal for an entire week listed out for you, you're way overthinking getting in shape.

I need every ingredient listed because I've never done proper cooking (i.e. involving things other than a microwave or an oven) before, and other than salt and pepper it's highly unlikely that I have any of the "standard" items which you might expect someone to have (like cooking oil for example).

I will be going to Tesco after work this afternoon to buy stuff, with the intention of starting the diet change tomorrow morning.
