High rep rows will nail the shit out of them too.
As will T-bar pulldowns.

overhand or underhand grip or alternate (lol) for bent over rowS?
Fuuuuuu tried hook grip on deadlift just to try it out.....split my thumbnail in half. Hurt like hell even before that. Maybe I did it wrong but fuck that...never again. I'll just work on my grip more and do mixed when I need to. I can do 415 for reps double overhand so it's not like grip is a problem for most of my sets.
I've struggled 7 weeks on a silly ass weight, as all my other lifts are going up either 2.5kg per week.
If I were you, I'd do a five minute warmup of light to moderate rowing, and then hold the squat stretch for a minute or two. Then do twenty leg swings both legs, then ten bodyweight squats to depth. Before pressing, windmill your arms around to warm up your shoulders.
The movements themselves will act as a stretch.
Squats, box jumps and deads for your jump. Cardio for general fitness, hiit.I want to get into better basketball shape. Doing a full body routine that has three different workout types. Push day , pull day, leg day. Any tips?
So, I've decided to ditch Leangains. The brain fog and chills were getting way too bad for me to cope with since switching to a cut - my work productivity had decreased massively which is completely unacceptable.
I'm sticking to a Leangains-esque routine now except with a breakfast made up of coffee with 15g of butter & 1 tbsp of coconut oil and a 4 egg omelette. I'm going to give it a month to see if my cutting results are affected but, already, I feel much more mentally active and my concentration has increased a ton.
I'm sure IF works really well for some people but I guess it's not for me.
how long were you on it?
Lol, nope, you did it right.
Hook grip is pretty painful, especially when you're learning how to do it properly; it's a totally viable alternative to mixed grip, and definitely reduces the risk of a biceps injury.
For benching I'm certainly no expert, but the wider the grip the more chest involvement and the more stress put on your shoulder joint. I met a guy who always benched fairly narrow because his shoulders were beaten up from years of heavy benching. Regardless of width, your forearms should always be vertical at the bottom of the press. A bench in the 300s with decent form is very, very good.
For what it's worth I wouldn't take advice from a guy that thinks strict barbell rows aren't barbell rows. (Talking about that powercast guy)
Haha wtf then. So only people into torture use it I guess?
lol I never said they weren't rows.
And about the Shoulder Press, any movement that creates enough tension, time under tension and you can progress with it, will be effective.
So no he doesn't have to "Stand the fuck up", doing it seated will work just fine for his goals.
It may be better but it's not a Bent Over BB row
How do you guys feel about skipping squats for a day?
I got major DOMS after my last workout and I just wanna do the rest of my routine today, which would be OHP, bent over rows, and cleans. I'm pretty happy with where I am with squats right now so I don't feel mind skipping them, but I feel guilty.
Edit: Regarding OHPs done standing or not: I feel like I gain strength of my legs when doing the OHP. I think standing really helps.

Yup, every time I want to fall out on squats/deads I feel significantly better after getting them over with. Same thing on my off days, gotta do a bunch of stretching to work out the soreness, if I get lazy and stay sedentary any potential inflammation compounds in awful ways.Nothing wrong with skipping a day but, doing squats will help with the DOMS.
Box jumps would be smart. Would that also help with jump coordination? I feel like I don't always jump as well as I should. I'm 6", and can barely touch rim on my best jumps. But I feel like I don't get a quality jump as often as I should.Squats, box jumps and deads for your jump. Cardio for general fitness, hiit.

hmm i can't really tell you how to jump without seeing you jump first.
but, squats and deadlifts are the best for increasing your vertical.
if you want, i can try and post a video of me jumping so you can see how to do it? make sure you're not bending your knees too much, if you go too far down then it doesn't work.
i'm talking off 2 feet by the way, off 1 foot i can barely hang on the rim.
ediT: lol that gun control thread. smh bro.
Got given some creatine (monohydraat). Do you guys just dump a couple grams in your whey shake daily, or do you deal with the 'recommended' loading cycles? (seems like marketing bullshit)
I put it in my whiskey.

That's cool, but I only drink on the weekends. So I guess it doesn't matter?
Today's squat workout: 110lbs, 10 sets of 20.
I may have trouble walking tomorrow.

Is this some new crossfit thing?
Loading is bullshit. Take about 5g a day every day, forever.
I train at an MMA place and we have a workout club. We've been hitting high weights for low reps so decided to go for volume today to mix it up.
We did stones today, god damn that was fun. 80 lb, 110 lb, 168 lb and then a 210 lb that I never did quite get up there.
Yeah up to the shoulder for 3 sets of 5. This was my first go at them so we were focusing on the technique... which is pretty straight forward once you do it, but good to learn. The light ones I was just hoisting up, but when it gets heavy you cant do that hah.
Need your stats, read the op. Gym membership is required for effective gains.I wanna get some lean muscle starting now. All I have are adjustable dumbbells though.
I can improvise with what I have, any recommendations on exercises to do? Like a link to a good regimen or something?
And amazing how much a food journal and calorie counting helped me. I had hit a huge plataeu dispite working out hard. Turns out even though I was eating healthy, I was eating too much. Now I'm eating around 1700 calories a day and I'm seeing great results.

Oh man, got too eager.
Age: 22
Height: 5 ft 5 in
Weight: 147
Goal: Strength
Current Training Schedule: nothing
Current Training Equipment Available: dumbbells, college gym
Comments: checking my bmi, I'm close to being overweight, but I look small. I honestly don't know where the weight comes from. I used to run and do sprints with my sister, but I was super thin then. I know you said gym membership for effective gains but I wanna get some confidence first before hitting the gym.
