Sooooo this is awkward but I've noticed my left pec is noticeably larger / more muscular looking than my right pec.

Apart from choosing a better pushup bra, what can I do to help my right pec catch up? For chest I just do flat barbell bench, flat dumbell bench, incline dumbell bench, or dumbell flys. Not all on the same day.

Ok? So what amount of muscle do you think is "optimal" for someone who is 6"3?
I mean that purely from an aesthetic standpoint, I couldn't give you numbers. I have a larger head and I've always felt it looks a bit unproportional to my body. I suppose it's different for everyone though.

It can help with sleep. I always take it like 30 min before bed. I don't think you need to take it with food.

You should be aware though that you should also take 2 mg copper per day if you are supplementing with extra zinc since zinc depletes copper.

Thanks for the info. The bottle of zinc I have also contains 300 mcg copper per capsule, so I think I'm fine there.

I have what I thought was a decent amount of muscle for being 185, but after doing some research and some reading, I realize it's mostly just an illusion. I've never been in a position where I've had to gain/lose weight before so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. I'm a little nervous but I think it'll be a great thing in the long run.

Expect for when my clothes no longer fit. #manshionGAF

I feel like you and I are on the same mission. We just wanna have nice bods, sick hair, and sweet style.

I heard it's a total body workout so you burn like 4000 calories per use.

But yea now you guys can see where I'm coming from. My legs are pretty well developed compared to the rest of my body so my leg exercise 1repmaxes will be considerably out of proportion in comparison. Maybe I'll do legs once a week instead of twice. I go three times a week and do bench / squat twice a week with DL and OHP on the middle day. Switching it would probably help, no?

I'd go to low bar if I was in your position. Assuming you are doing high bar now. I actually like low bar better myself but in your case seems like you should go with posterior chain more than the quads. My understanding is low bar would help that:

http://70sbig.com/blog/2012/01/low-bar-vs-high-bar-squatting/

The positioning of the bar will dictate what mechanics must be used to maintain lifting efficiency. The mechanics will dictate what musculature is used. Succinctly, more vertical squat techniques use the quads and glutes as the primary movers while the low bar puts a premium on the posterior chain (particularly the hamstrings) for hip drive. The low bar squat also has a balanced anterior/posterior force at the knee because the focus on the hamstring contraction pulls back on the knee. In contrast, the high bar has more of an anterior stress since the quads are the primary movers and attach at the front of the knee at the patella. There is some quadriceps involvement in the low bar squat, but not nearly as much as the high bar squat. There is a little hamstring involvement in the high bar (see below), but not nearly as much as the low bar squat.

Holy fucking lazy. Haven't lifted in two weeks, I think, did some pull ups on my power rack but that's it. Work is physical enough to keep me solid but fuck it's draining with the cold. Right now I'm at 3k calories to stay 192 without lifting. Monday I had to work on a fucking water break 8 ft below the ground at -33C waist deep in freezing water, ended up sleeping 12 hours that night, and I thought I was going to squat Monday night...

so I've started incorporating barbell rows into my routine. I swear I can annihilate my back with just 40 pounds on the bar if I keep strict form. I dunno how people do 3 plate rows.

Oh my, my grip finally came through on deadlifts. I think I had 1-2 more reps in me had I used chalk or straps.

I think it's because I was deadlifting in front of future waifu. I saw her squat a set of 185 once. Model looks, too.

You guys used mixed/alternate grip on deadlifts? My brother was telling me about how people have torn a bicep doing that. So ya, not going heavy to the point where I would mix my grip until I get some straps. That scared the shit out of me.

I do.

I imagine those that tore their biceps did that because they pulled with their bicep. I have never felt my biceps be active on a mixed grip deaflift.

Your arms should act as ropes during deadlifts.

Holy shit, you can tear your bicep from mixed grip? I thought that was just a natural, flawless progression, shit I jumped like fucking 50 lbs. in a couple weeks switching up.

I hope I don't have to worry about that, the deadlift feel's so fucking natural mixed grip, only strain I ever felt on my arms is in my forearms.

Yo I watched that video, I don't have big, short biceps like that, I only do pullups for arms and my biceps are longer as a result I guess, I can't get them to pop like that unless I full flex.

you wil only tear your biceps if you try to curl the weight

not even that bad. dude doesn't even scream or say ouch, you just see his biceps get a little bit tighter, and after the lift, hes like"wtf?"

Not even that bad? HE DIDN'T FINISH THE LIFT.

nah seriously though, the vid isn't that bad. It's just weird seeing his tie in shift several inches up in the beginning of the lift.

not the first time, if you read the description, it says he attempted again, and won :p

Hrmm...this makes me concerned as I've started feeling my triceps on the underhand arm for my heavier sets. I think I'm just flexing it because I'm trying to keep my shoulders back so my upper spine stays straight. Moreso when it's the left hand which is my weaker arm. Any thoughts/tips? anyone else having this happen?

So I took a week off of lifting because I got really ill. Man, I lost a lot of weight, like 6-7 pounds, there goes my bulk :C

I was absolutely terrified about my gains, but first day back yesterday and I got right back into my working weight. I failed my last set, and gave up there, but it still feels good man. I really didn't want to deload for egotistical reasons. I probably will deload, but on my own accord.

Great experience getting back in the gym, though I had some annoying gym goer tell me all of his fitness advice while I tried to work out. "You should squat lighter weight, higher reps, etc." Yeesh, didn't even finish my bench with that clown there, does anyone else experience these people? My first time coming across this surprisingly.

Almost all water weight.

I wear headphones so I don't have to listen to anyone. Music man.

You'll tear your biceps tendon if you pull with your arms. Flex your triceps on both arms while lifting and make sure your elbow is locked out, no bicep involvement.

You can tear it doing all kinds of stuff. Weighted chins, tire flips, etc. be careful!

Man haven't lifted in awhile. Did a good lift on Monday and again last night and my right bicep will NOT QUIT spasming since Monday nights workout. It will stop for a little bit then...spasm spasm spasm. I am up on supplements really well. I am getting old hahahaha.
Anyone else here have one that seemed to go on for ages?

I do know:) I have had spasms after really hard workouts. I think most people have at one time or another. But damn if this one won't stop for very long before coming back again. Crazy. It is not a full bicep spasm anymore. Just a twitch now...regularly thumping into my torso when I am sitting in meetings :)

You're probably right about it being water weight, but it was still worrysome to see 207lbs go to 201lb on the scale lol.

And yeah I was wearing headphones! I just feel like a jerk keeping them in if someone comes up to me to talk. Then again maybe he should've notice I was in the zone..

The new years tsunami is already taking place. I went to the gym on a Wednesday night around 10:30pm and the place was busier than I've seen it in a long time.

My gym is closed for five days. They're laying down a new floor and replacing all their equipment. I'm a little scared that the (only) squat rack will disappear :( I've asked for more than one for years, but they refuse because they don't want to get in more "gorillas"...

Do you guys ever get like a cramp in your leg while bench pressing? When I'm doing my max, and I'm pushing against the ground with my legs, sometimes I start to feel it cramp up mid rep and have to stop pushing

I have another random question for you guys. I'm trying to cut weight between now and February 1. I do 45 minutes of cardio after every lift day and 60 minutes on two of my non-lift days. The problem is I'm usually at the gym 2+ hours on my three lift days. Should I be taking any supplements during my workout or am I ok with my usual pre-workout stuff and protein shake pre-workout?
