Hey Crossfitters, you know how your like "God damnit Veezy, why you hate on us so bad?"

Well...

there's a few reasons. Can anybody tell me what modal domain that shit is supposed to be? ;)

EDIT: Oh, here's something interesting. Part 1 Part 2 Lose 40 lbs of fat in 63 days, with strength training. Good read.

Greg Glassman likes to show everyone how smart he is by using jargon.

And laughing at CF people doing dumb shit is fun but let's not pretend like that shit is new to working out. I do CF and I think that shit is stupid as well.

I tried drinking a gallon of milk the other day, and I wasn't hungry enough to eat anything at all. I felt pretty good, though.

Damn blizzard hitting NY. At least, I've been doing plenty of core exercises. I'm going to need it when it comes time to shovel my driveway.

I've been expanding out to new vegetables like butternut squash.

Today's lunch is 8oz of chicken, 2 cups squash cooked in my breakfast bacon grease, 1 cup cucumbers diced and 2 tbsp of crumbled bacon.

Asshole doing shrugs in the squat rack. New guy who is never here at this time. Raging now.

That's where I do my shrugs. Throw four plates on each side and do bill starr style stuff.

Oh, I know.

It's just part of that 200 a month clients are dropping is for the training from certified experts. So, I'm wondering where they are when all of THAT is occurring.

And this is why I don't get involved with threads like that. And the countless threads about obesity and health.

No doubt, those threads are a trap. I'm surprised that was ban worthy, but I must be less sensitive than some. Still working out, but I'm hoping to start Starting Strength next week when I hope to have enough money to buy an Olympic set, squat rack, and bench.

He wasn't quite doing that much weight...lol...and there's other places to rack a power bar in my gym for that sort of stuff, and only 1 place to squat properly.

"Then look for a new gym"

I pay $5/mo. You get what you pay for.

where can I get some nice sleeves or wraps for knees?

Which is it--sleeves or wraps? They do very different things.

I wear Tommy Kono knee sleeves to keep my knees warm as I lift--they're not tight enough to directly aid the lift. Haven't had any knee pain since wearing them.

Yeah, I'm not looking for anything to aid me with the lift, just to reduce stress on the joints. Which is better for that, wraps or sleeves?

Hello FitnessGAF (I'm all giddy for my first post)!

I am a[(n) 18 year old] long time lurker to this thread, and I appreciate all of the knowledge casually dropped (occasionally I have to google some of the acronyms hehe) here. You've convinced me to totally reform my workout (through SS) to incorporate the "big four". Thank you (to everyone).

Out of curiosity (with all of the talk of bad gym etiquette), is it poor etiquette to do overhead press at the squat rack? That's really the only place at my gym where it's possible to do it, and I sometimes wonder if I piss people off.

Personal opinion, I think it's fine to do OHP on a squat rack.

Deadlift form check (225lbs x 8): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3egBKII2IE

Critique please.

At the bottom, try to raise your chest a bit more without lowering your hips.

At the top, try to shove your hips forward a bit more. It seems you are not reaching full lockout on your hips.

On the way down, the usual advice: unlock your hips first and shove them back; don't unlock your knees until the bar has traveled past them. Otherwise you won't be able to keep a vertical bar path.

Totally fine to do OHP on the Squat rack, specially when it starts to get heavier.

You can always clean the bar for extra badass points if you want to though.

Ill do ohps and hang cleans at the rage cage sometimes. Its just easier to setup the ohps there.

Definitely sleeves. Look into some Rehbands, as was mentioned, or the TK bands, like I use. I haven't squatted once without them since using em.

OK, first of all, what is your current level of flexibility?

For example, can you touch your toes? If you sit in a straddle position, how far can you extend you arms across the floor?

Hard to tell. I'm pretty stiff right now but after a warmup I can touch my toes, legs straight.

I'll test my level of flexibility tonight when I'll go to the gym.

I do OHP in squat rack. If someone wants to work in OHP or squat I'll be more than happy to oblige...but if they want to curl in there they can go fuck themselves.

Touching your toes is a good sign. It means that you've got good flexibility in your hamstrings (or you have monstrously long arms).

As for my opinion on doing the split starting at your age, I say go for it, but be careful.

It's much easier and safer to do the front split before trying the side split (Van Damme style).

I wear sneakers most of the time, but when I do squats I just wear a pair of Chuck Taylor allstars hightops.

Squat and dead in my socks. Very low cost.

I've always been able to touch the ground with both palms, and as a kid, I used to be able to do a front split inexplicably (was not very athletic).

Can still touch the ground with palms just fine, or extend my entire hand past my toes when sit-and-reaching. I tried to see how far I could get doing a front split recently. rofl. bad times.

Thanks for all of the deadlift feedback yesterday guys. Appreciate it. I'll try and tweak my form next week when I do them again.

If I end up making it to the gym today (damn storm), I'll film myself doing squats and post it up here!

I went first thing this morning, feels good man.

Then again, all the storm stuff was a bit overblown in the Buffalo area.

I do OHP and deadlift on the squat rack.

Come at me, bros!

But seriously, I always offer to work in for those who want to squat as well. I do also ask others they are doing non squat stuff. I never got the passive aggressiveness with the squat rack.

It always is.

When I moved from Syracuse to Buffalo, I was shocked at what a bunch of pansies Buffalonians are about snow.

Yeah =(

They actually pre-cancel shit. When I lived in Rochester we hardly had cancellations unless snow was 8-12" deep. They cancel for 6" here it seems.

Thanks. Van Damme is my hero and honesty, his body is my fitness goal. I don't want to be huge.
