Just got my Inzer belt. Now to break it in. I've been beltless this whole time. I should also say I got it in just under 3 weeks, which is kind of crazy considering it's a custom color and I was quoted closer to 8 weeks and people have been complaining about 10 weeks so I had resigned myself to waiting until October.

Still out and about in NYC (currently sipping cocktails on a rooftop near times square).

Have to say that meeting Szu has definitely been one of the highlights of the trip. He's every bit as cool as you'd expect from his posts. :)

...and no, there was no ab off. In fact, pretty much the only things shown off were the strange bruises on my triceps.

There's a photo in existence to prove the event... Though as I completely forgot to flex when it was taken its not going to get uploaded until it has been through a few Photoshop passes.

I hope you're not standing behind one of Szu's arms.

As I mentioned, it was nice to meet Pyscho. And his wife is indeed taller than probably 90% of FitGaf.

What he doesn't realize is that I had hidden cameras set up all over the place and I got a shot of them.

I squatted this weight for the first time at 27 years old. She is going to grow strong and healthy

To give another perspective. When I was 13 (OMG, that was almost 3 decades ago, I'm so old), my exercise routine consisted of running around at the park and playing NES games.

That weight would have crushed me.

There was super douche baggery going around the gym today. 3 idiots slamming weights and looking around to see who looked. Terrible form, too much lumbar flexion during Deadlifts. One or all of them had some serious b.o. too. Wanted to vomit.
oh shit did I say barbell? I'm doing this form home, I meant dumbbell bench press...

You did, but no biggie. You can still do those things with dumbbells. Holding dumbbell in each hand for deadlifts, goblet squats, and One Arm Rows. If you don't want to buy many more weights you can focus on adding more reps. Eventually you would need heavier weights to continue gaining muscle. If you can easily bust out 20 reps for 4 sets with a weight, time to buy heavier weights.

Really important to work opposing muscles to keep joints healthy. You should ideally row as much if not more than you bench. If you have to work up to that thats fine. My rows are lagging that moment because I have been lazy about them.

That's so awesome!

Anyone have tips for increasing shoulder stability?

I did some snatches and OH squats over the weekend, and the only part of me that was constantly failing was my right shoulder. I can't seem to stabilise the weight over my head without it feeling like it's going to pop my shoulder out the socket.

Any ideas for shoulder stability exercises (other than doing more OH squats)?

Someone I follow on IG posted these two.

Basically exercises that builds up the upper to mid-back and posterior shoulder muscles. I'm currently going through PT to fix my shoulder laxity, which leads to shoulder instability but mine doesn't seem extreme like your situation; snatches and OHSs have been fine for me.

Thanks! I think mine is also shoulder laxity caused by multiple semi-dislocations. I was told to stretch constantly, but it just made it worse. Physio gave me some exercises, an said stretching isn't necessarily what I need. However I couldn't afford to keep going to the sessions.

Been doing what she recommended, hoping others with similar problems can give insight too. So thanks a lot!

Yeah you don't want to stretch an already loose joint. I could tell you the exercises I've been doing at PT if you want; probably same stuff you've been recommended.

I've been having good progress in terms of solving the problem the last 5 weeks. My scapula is closer to the spine so the position of the scapula is where it is supposed to be / better posture. My shoulder laxity also decreased / how far the humerus moves out of my socket decreased.

Anybody know any good videos for romanian deadlift? I need to start rotating exercises for my conventional deadlift.

Got myself to the gym today and back into 5x5, had to Deload significantly but hopefully it won't take me too long to get back to where I was.

For the record
Today was 5x5
Squat 60kg (PB 80kg)
Bench 50kg (PB 62.5 kg)
Bent over row 40kg (PB 50kg)

Just gonna keep adding 2.5/5kg on a week and see where I go with it, suspect my bench will get stuck pretty quickly as it has previously.

Goals to hit before the baby is due (Jan 17th)? I guess I could go for 90kg squat, 70kg bench, and 60kg row.

The second ever fit gaf meetup!

Hey I'm new here. Really cool to see a community of fit nerds.

What is everyone's stance on intermittent fasting here? I'm finding that it's the only way I can see any real progress week to week with cutting. Is that normal, or is it just in my head?

IMO it's a diet cheat code. Some people respond better than others but with my schedule and how my body operates it was meant to be.

Anyone ever try running while only breathing through their nose? I know it sounds stupid, but I heard it's a technique a new runner can use to slow down their pace. Supposedly useful since so many new runners try to run faster than they should. Any thoughts on if it could be any benefit? I tried it tonight and ran about a minute slower on my mile pace, so I guess it's doing its job in that sense.

More power to you! I have neither the will nor the desire to even attempt going that low. Crazy stuff dude.

If I had 2 more weeks I could probably look even better in terms of water retention/hardness etc.

It just needs careful programming in terms of eating and training. For me the most important factor is never to lose a training session and not going crazy with calories.

Many thanks for the kind words bro! :)

I started a new diet and workout program about 6 weeks ago. I'm super happy with the results! I'm an ectomorph eating about 3000-3500 calories per day and in 6 weeks I gained 5-6 lbs of lean muscle mass and 3.4 lbs of fat for a total of 9.4 lbs (analyzed via ultrasound biometrics and measuring body parts)! I'm really getting the gains I wanted in bulking. How exciting! I'm hoping I can have 15 lbs of new lean muscle mass total by November.

Got down to about 6-7% BF this summer. Currently at 10% after one month of ending the summer cutting diet (much stronger now though)

It's been a while! You look amazing man, keep up the great work. As Cooter said, props to you for getting so lean. It works very well for you. I couldn't keep it up myself. You've got a quite an incredible level of discipline.

Thanks bro! <3 Yeah getting lean carefully makes me look way better. I look bigger at 82kg lean (pics I'm around 79-80) than at 85-86. Height is 1.88m

Calories were ranging from 1900 to 2700 during the cut phase but an average figure would be 2400 per day.

Workouts were brutal though. 5 times per week, 1,5-2 hour weight session each time.

Curse you and your low pelvis structure. My pelvis sits a lot higher and steals that V-shape away from me.

You look damn good dude. Great job.

How many years did it take to get to where you are?

I'll be 37 in 3-4 months. Lifting from the age of 19-20 years old. Seriously started lifting at 24. Until 2013 I was more or less between 88-94kg (also stonger) From 2014 onwards I tried getting a little bit leaner every year and so far it's worked out well.

I'm 86-87kg here (2014)

Yup, your stats and diet are about spot on. I cut on the exact same amount of calorie ranges and got similar results. Though I'm a lot shorter than you, similar weight. I couldn't keep it up though passed 8%, it was a struggle!

Are you very active outside the gym?

Cut city! Looking great man!!

I remember you from your avatar duder! :D Mucho thanks! How's training going for you?

I am actually quite active. Walk a lot, do a lot of housework, etc. Couldn't agree more with what you said. Getting down to 8% was not that hard. But after that it was a struggle. I was waking up and felt as if someone was punching me all night long. Not pumped and upon waking up at low BF I was at a state of "do you even lift brah?" However even if I did a quick walk I would have veins all over etc. The usual for someone who is very low in BF.

It's not something to keep for a prolonged period though. Much better staying around 9-10% and if needed you can always go down to 6-7% for summer etc in 4-6 weeks if you are year round around 10%

It's so cool to actually be able to walk after doing squats. That change is stance last week is really working. I don't know why I was so wide (and oblivious) before. This is 4 workouts in a row where I've felt great afterwards.

And by great, I mean tired in all the right places.

I'm starting college this week and I'm really trying to utilize the gym. I'm tired of being so skinny(5'11 137ish lbs) and I've read the OP and I'm ready to dive in. I should start the workout routine in the OP in the next week since I need to adjust to college life. I'm so determined to make a change. Will come in here a lot more often and hopefully post update pics.

All right, back from vacation. My goal to achieve 13% bodyfat (19-20% today) starts right now. Can't wait for my muscles to finally surface. I tried intermittent fasting for two weeks prior to my holiday and it worked incredibly well so I'll just keep doing that. Not sure how long it'll take but I'm really, really motivated.

I just read the last 60 or so pages and I'm finally caught up here. Getting married in less then 2 weeks, been lifting and doing PSMF. Almost at my lowest adult weight. We back baby.

BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 Missed you bud!!!

I remember you from your avatar duder! :D Mucho thanks! How's training going for you?

Not bad, not bad. Have a 2 year old and another on the way (my wife has been exhausted this time though, so I'm doing my best to pick up a ton of slack for her), and we're in the process of selling our house and buying a new one...but I'm still managing to grind out 4-5 workouts a week for my health and sanity!

Finally finished SS to a point with all of my lifts where I feel comfortable moving back to 5/3/1.

Hopefully within a 8-10 months I'll be back to my old numbers. Fuck, it's been a long road and I'm only halfway there. Folks, don't tear your ACL.
