Some people have too much free time, not enough problems in life, they are bored, etc.

So they find ways to spice things up. Going against the establishment and arguing against something given is one way for people to inject something to compete and argue with in their free time.

Yeah because, as with any faith based belief, these people work backwards from the conclusion, and try to force the facts to fit that conclusion.

So this guy will admit he was wrong about the ice wall and the way the sun works, but he still KNOWS the earth is flat, he just has more science to do before he figures out how to make sense of this new info.

Wasn't the deal that the people that originally came up with the flat earth society did it as a joke and never meant it to be take seriously?

Is this true? I never cared to research how the flat earth theory started but this is even more ridiculous.. people will believe anything.

Their insane model means that the sun is just hovering above the earth and moves around illuminating one part at a time; if one place has a 24 hour sun, it means somewhere else either needs to have another sun for day/night to make sense OR, that the earth is indeed orbiting a giant star and spinning to get the day/night cycle.

On their model where the Earth is shaped like a pancake, the North Pole would get a 24 hour sun since the sun revolves around in a circle. However, in their model, Antarctica is a giant ring surrounding the Earth, so to be in one spot in Antarctica and observe the sun revolving around you for 24 hours is impossible.
