Who's first according to Money Mayweather?

Well himself, of course!

1 Floyd Mayweather W 48 L 0
2 Roberto Duran W 103 L 16
3 Pernell Whitaker W 40 L 4 D 1
4 Julio Cesar Chavez W 107 L 6 D 2
5 Muhammad Ali W 56 L 5

Floyd Mayweather has picked his five greatest fighters of all time and has caused fresh controversy after leaving heavyweight great Muhammad Ali down at No 5, with Sugar Ray Robinson not included at all.

The American superstar, who is unbeaten in 48 bouts, was asked to compile his own list of the sport’s best ever boxers in the wake of picking up another 'Fighter of the Year' award from the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame.

Unsurprisingly, the 38-year-old with the 'The Best Ever' nickname reserved top spot for himself, but his list has raised a few eyebrows as Ali took the last available spot, while there was no place for the legendary Robinson.

*insert Floyd can't read joke here*

Yeah he's so full of himself it's painful.

No Sugar Ray? No Joe Lewis? No Coleman? No Tyson? Come on man.

I think we all know who was the best boxer. And he's not on that list. He did not have the most wins. But he'd fuck 'm all up in his prime. Yes, it is he.

Floyd starting to hype up the next fight. Getting the eyeballs on him to maximize PPV buys. People are gonna eat it up, too.

Seems like a reasonable enough list.

I love Ali, and I will call him The Greatest on any day, but he might not be. He is one of the most iconic figures in sport ever but I can't get mad if another fighter who is also one of the greatest to ever lace up gives his opinion.

Tyson top 5?

Yeah, no.

Iron Mike is a very strong candidate for top 5, bruh. Prime Tyson was a force of nature.

No Joe Louis?!

Was the heavyweight titleholder for 140 months, which is longer than any other contender.

66-3 seems pretty good to me.

Prime Tyson is absolutely a top-5 all time contender

Umm

Yea iron Mike would be up there

Tyson is not a top 5 fighter, it's even a stretch to call him a top 5 heavyweight.

A prime Larry Holmes was better and would have mopped the floor with him.

I honestly have a harder time with Duran at #2 than Floyd putting himself at #1 or Ali at #5.

Why is Roy Jones so overlooked? I think he is top 5. Yes he went up too many weight classes but he was untouchable for 14 years and 49 fights before his first legitimate loss (he was dq once).

Probably overlooked because he's a joke now. If he retired when he should have he would be up there.

Tyson's career record is 50-6 with 44 KOs. How is he not in the running for Top 5? I'd probably take Prime Tyson against anyone, except for Ali

Duran is arguably the best lightweight ever, which is probably why Floyd has him there.

Lol

As far as highlight reels go, he's the GOAT.

Anybody that knows anything about boxing would never put him in the top 5 greatest boxers.

Yeah he is I just never considered him that high on all time list. top 10 yeah. These are all just opinions though. It doesn't make me upset or anything.

I'm not even sure if I would put Tyson Top 10. His prime was too short and he was fighting in an era where the heavyweight division was already floundering.
Top 5? Even if we ignore (other more) recent or (really) ancient boxers, there are Louis, Ali, Frazier, Holmes and Marciano*, all of which arguably deserve a spot above him.

*I honestly don't think high of Marciano, his actual title reign is really bad, but most experts would probably disagree with me there, so I'd still put him above Tyson.

Because there are guys with better records, who were also better fighters. If you want to talk purely about records, Henry Armstrong was 151 wins with 101 kos, 21 losses (only 2 by knockout). Ricardo Lopez retired 51 wins and 38 knocks, no losses and 1 draw.

Tyson was great entertainment but he wasn't a top 5 fighter.

I always enjoyed Larry Holmes myself. No nonsense orthodox boxer, but my god the power. His record was great.

Total fights 75
Wins 69
Wins by KO 44
Losses 6

Not certain if one of the top 5 but definitely a guy I always like to remind folks of...he was the gatekeeper for Ali. His main issue was trying to make comebacks. Know when and why you retired is all I'm saying. Comebacks just stain your record.

Tyson was awesome to watch but had the luck of fighting in a division that was absolutely terrible at the time. Trevor Berbick.....lol

I'd say Wladimir Klitschko should be somewhere on the list. 64-3, 53 KO. Some may say he's boring, but his KO % is huge, significantly higher than Tyson's. Fewer losses too.

I'd put Holmes up there, great fighter.

Klitschko is fighting in a heavyweight class that's basically been dead for 20 years, though. Boxing died when the big boys did. Really good fighter, but level of competition can't be discounted.

idk

i don't follow boxing at all, but if he doesn't have any losses why shouldn't he think of himself as no 1

like seriously what's the point of being modest if he actually thinks that

it sounds like a lot of people are mad b/c their favorites aren't his favorites

and yeah i know about his history

I always liked Vitali more than Wlad, but they both deserve respect.

Anyone who says Tyson has no business being in the Top 5 never saw the man go to work..he was a MONSTER...also Fuck Floyd...Ali is and always will be #1

What Tyson was in my eyes is one of the best inside fighters in history. Finding one as threatening and powerful as Tyson is hard to do. Guy's nuts would drag the ring when he'd duck because he could shoot so low with how powerful his legs were and spring back up with a full body sledgehammer of a shot afterwards. Just nuts how much he could move back then...probably why he blowed up by round 2. Guy fed on momentum and just started out in 5th gear and never let up. Great guy to overwhelm folks and take their wind away.

And anybody that knows anything about boxing would be really hesitant to bet against prime Tyson fighting anybody in history at their prime.

His pedigree is tremendous, everybody knows he's top-5 all time.

But he's not #1. Undefeated or no.

Watched most of them live. Like I said, amazing to watch but he had the advantage of being in a terrible division..Look at his opponents.
