It is frustrating that Everton's two standout players, Lukaku and Barry, are on loan from other clubs. Martinez must be given credit for signing both of them but, I really despise the way rich teams are able to send their players to teams in the same league and help keep their rivals down.

It's true I have been playing way too much FM and it's hard not to let it affect the way I think about players.

Rodwell's problem is that he is the typical type of English player pushed through the system - child in and adult's body who has developed physically much earlier than his peers. Hughes and Barkley have a first touch, technique and vision that are rarities for English players of any age.

I hope Hughes stays at Pride Park as well but you have to be practical to a degree. Players that good don't often play the best years of their career for a championship or lower table Prem team and I'd be gutted if he got picked up by Arsenal or Chelsea. At his age I think Liverpool should by and loan him back to Derby for another season, possibly two if he continues to develop well.
