I can't quite figure out why Arsenal's management are playing such hardball with RVP. They are turning all interest in the player away with their stance and we need to sell him if he doesn't want to sign.

I just so wish he would have a change of heart and be commited to the club. But he wont so he needs to go.... 15-20mil will do at this point, imo.

Yes. We need to build another winger into the side gradually. We couldn't just swap a player like Nani for someone.

Young isn't it. It would take years for Moura to get close to being it.

Not going to argue that he's perpetually lethal. But he gets goals, and makes them, and is a fast, strong, intelligent bastard who has a decent understanding with the rest of our attack.

Nani is 25 now, so he'll be around his peak physically so this will probably be the height of his football career with a mix of physical ability and mental understanding. I can't see him ever getting better, or becoming consistent.

Are there better wingers out there? Probably.
Will you bid for them? Probably not.

So in that sense I can understand why you'd want to resign him, but I wouldn't throw money at him.

When was the last time Arsenal managed to have a good transfer window/deal?

Thierry Henry leaving before 07/08? That was the last time the whole "sell superstar, hope rest of team is spurred on by their departure" worked, partly because Wenger bought very shrewdly in that window and partly because we relied too heavily on an aging, increasingly injury-prone striker in decline (hmm...now why does this sound familiar). Eduardo, Diarra (even if he was sold shortly afterwards), Sanga were all effective, while allowing players like Cesc, Adebayor, RVP, Flamini to really come into their own.

Yeah, I guess that's about right. Seems like a cliché now that Arsenal seem to mess up the transfer windows.

Banned Paper story on Ravel Morrison - wat.

His teeth are properly stuffed.

He refused to drink anything but club branded bottled water on tour - other "bizarre behaviour" left unspecified.

I was talking to a coach that was once an apprentice footballer (before it was renamed as Youth/Development/Professional Youth) about the differences when he was coming through the ranks 20 years ago to now.

Basically the guys now don't do anything.

They had to clean the changing rooms.
Clean boots.
Do errands for the senior players.
Ball boy duties

All of which engrained a bit of respect and understanding into him (also bumped the meager pay they got back then).

Harry makes youth players clean boots. Not much point to it now though. It won't teach them anything considering how well they are paid.

It's not that I wouldn't take on Toulalan as he's supposedly a good player but it's just that he won't be a starter and he should accept that. But to have an international DM like him on the bench is a mahoosive step up from someone like Guthrie.

There are not many better wingers in the world right now and Nani has always been doing the job thats been asked be it on the right or left. Within the PL i believe he along with Valencia are the best Right wingers so yea it would be stupid to let him go even if we signed Moura.

So happy that the new footballseason is near, first up on Sunday, Feyenoord Rotterdam.

Gonna be sunny all weekend, good time to be in the stadium, looking forward to a good match, and the first win for Utrecht.

Go you boys in red!

Are you really comparing one of the Top strikers in the world to a Top class CB? Sorry but its a lot easier to find a top class CB to do a solid defensive job than it is to find a 30+ goal scorer.

Cause if you wanna do that comparison then let me put this way. If you had a choice to sell Suarez or Kompany who would you sell?

Priceless, these lads.

Just read about PSG offering €45mn for Moura. I mean, really?

Who knows.

It has been described as an entirely owner-driven move, though. Which is a bit sad. If a team is going to spend absurd money, it should at least be doing it because a manager has plans about how a player could fit in or alter his squad.

I think there's a strong case to suggest Arsenal could come out of this transfer window very well. Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla could be excellent signings. And aren't they still in for Sahin?

can anyone summarize Reto Ziegler for me?

Has played for high-profile teams across Europe without being an essential part of any of them. Maybe in Samp but that's it. Currently plays for Juve. Being on the bench in the national team. First cap in Stade de France in 2003 in a goalless draw.

My dad will probably be over the moon that Arsenal are doing so well transfer-wise. Real sign of intent. If Van Persie does stay - even until January at least - they will be a true force to be reckoned with. That is unless the usual Arsenal luck kicks in and they still can't do any better than *just* compete for top 4.

IF they dont sign any good defenders they will be doing just that.

I'm not sure if RVP can stay on at Arsenal after the things hes said about the club.

They're still looking for £20-25m for him too. Just can't see any club willing to spend that much on a player with one year left on his contract.

FK specialist, dude scores them with his eyes closed
not really, but he scores a lot of them

I hope barcelona buys Alex Song he is exactly what we need. Mascherano at CB is a beast, as a DM he doesn't work as well in Barcelona. Song is the player we need after Keita's departure. the CB position is covered up well with Mascherano, Puyol, Pique, Bartra.

Damn good signing for Arsenal.

Also lol @ goal.coms top 50:

3.Messi
2.Casillas
1.Ronaldo

Only 1 Bayern player in whole top 50 as well. Ahh that site is such a joke.

Miguel Delaney said his source at United was convinced that Lucas was going o sign for them. Now says that the PSG approach has United "concerned".

Read somewhere that PSG don't even need Lucas. They're just buying him as a message to other clubs in Europe. They're seeing it as a coup. Basically saying "look at us, we can compete with the biggest clubs in Europe and win out because we have lots of money".

I still back them to fall apart. Injuries, hilarious defending, wantaway key striker, dawdling and petulant midfielders.
How would you feel if RVP signed a new deal? He won't but hypothetically speaking.

Our back 4 are decent, aside from Gibbs, and if we can get Sahin as we are obviously trying too then we should be okay. I'm hopeful that Steve Bould being our assistant coach will help our defence. The players have already confirmed, well Szczesny and Vermaelen have, that Bould is working with them defensively so we will see how that goes.

I think Giroud and Podolski would be justified in being a bit pissed at having to rotate with a (presumably first choice) striker who has slated the club so hard and done his utmost to get out.

On the one hand, it's just how things go in football and they're paid silly money to deal with it. On the other, that's kind of a fucked up Tevez-like situation in the making. Granted, RVP isn't the morally shambolic nutcase that Tevez is, but he can sulk.

Wenger should stop asking for such a fucking daft wedge. It's almost small-time of him.

Your back four are decent on paper. But they are liable to crumble under sustained pressure and we've seen this countless times over the last few seasons.

It was, or are you trying to claim he's consistently playing his best football? In which case I won't be able to agree with you. He's hot/cold.

I'm probably the only United fan here who would agree with you, I'd be happy enough to let Nani leave for a reasonable fee.

Whilst he has his moments he's immensely frustrating to watch at times, and is either very good or very poor, very few times he has anything inbetween.
