Barcelona's obsession with defenders who are "good with the ball" is a bit... misguided I think. any team that deludes themselves into paying 15m for Song clearly needs to reevaluate their philosophy. I really wish Barcelona had bought David Luiz just for the ensuing hilarity

It sounds like they were in the lead to sign Luiz this summer, which is what prompted PSG to offer such a large sum of money before the WC.

I think most clubs want to wait until after the tournament before signing players from outside of their own league. That seems the smart thing to do anyway. A players value can increase/decrease obviously depending on how they perform, but it is a risk.

No one would offer anything close to the money Paris did for Luiz today. We got lucky.
