I also remember Gazidis saying last summer that we could afford Rooney despite his 250k a week wages. We can afford to pay a special player that amount. It won't strain our resources as we've successfully cleared away a lot of our wage moochers. We don't want Vidal.

Committing to a one off sum is not the same as an ongoing investment - at all.
