Of course hard to judge it already, but it seemed to have a lot more silly things all around than previous games in just the small demos we've seen, and I would certainly say although something like MGS4 and MGS1 were also silly at times, they were also very serious and not all that jokey, with MGS4 too serious for my taste although I also enjoyed it a lot.

It's like every new slice of gameplay is centred around an entirely fucking ludicrous mechanic or gimmick.

And then the story is totally pointless and of little consequence.

And then there's that stupid cigar time travelling device.

It's all just overly ridiculous. None of the games in the franchise have as overtly revelled in ludicrous stupidity like MGSV has. Even the fucking dog is stupid.

Previous games had the weird nonsense embedded within a serious and intriguing chassis. This has none of that. I just see Jack Bauer shouting "Kaz!", a character that plays no part in any of the other main games.

Yeah, I guess I see your point, but eh, I consider things like that to be an integral part of the MGS experience. Even in the more serious MGSes you had a fair share of silly / funny stuff in between the 'serious' (and over the top) story-related gameplay and cutscenes. I'm thinking about stuff like soldiers getting distracted by porn/fashion magazines, slipping on pigeon shit, etc. I don't think slightly overindulging with this stuff will make the game feel sillier than previous titles. It'll really come down to how batshit crazy Kojima goes with the story and characters. So far I haven't seen anything particularly :rollseyes: worthy, relative to what MGS is.

MGS5 story I don't mind but I'm really worried about the gameplay design, seems like a bunch of cool shit thrown together completely unfocused and the handholding babby mode seems off the charts (Iknow you can turn off a bunch of stuff but the game is designed around them anyways). I completely dispise the support/base/fulton/helicopter crap, I just wanted a nice adventure where Big Boss gets tossed into the middle of nowhere alone and short on supplies.
