Letters From Iwo Jima, Changeling and Gran Torino were pretty great. Invictus and Flags of Our Fathers were alright too. Don't care for the rest.

And then there's Mystic River indeed. Also Unforgiven, Pale Rider and Bird. The man made a good bunch of more than decent movies.

So yeah, if a certain director has been making movies for over 25 years and managed to make 5 or more good ones he's a good director in my book. Just not worth of any hype since you never quite know if it will be something good.
