Ys I and Ys II are cool but brought down a little bit by the mash save/retry structure.

Oath in Felghana, though? A great action game. All signs point to Origin being in the same ballpark so I'm looking forward to playing that.

magic in Ys 2 makes this one significantly better than Ys 1.

the visuals seem to better as well. and enemies actually attack? (as indicated by their flashing and then slash mark icons that pop up)

Ys1 has the same unsatisfying combat mechanics as the worst game of all-time, Hydlide. I hate that stuff. Zelda annihilates it in every facet.

I finished Ys 1 yesterday, it was a great game, I can see how advanced it was for its time even if I did play the remake version, the bump mechanic is more interesting than I expected it to be.

Now it's time to play Ys 2

For the first hour I was having a bad time and it suddenly clicked and I just felt like bumping into EVERYTHING.

The story in Ys I/II is probably my favorite game story of all time, even with how simple it is.

Falcom put so much detail into that world and it showed.

The only thing that sucks about the magic system is that it kind of lessens the impact of the bump system. I think it takes away from the game a little, since the fire magic is almost always a better option against regular enemies than standard attacks despite being a little more boring.

The boss fights are definitely way better in Ys 2, though.
