.Can't believe it's taken them 40 plus years just to make a movie out of this..

The massive failure of Super Mario Bros from 93 put a wrench in pretty much anything in terms of live action adaptations of Nintendos IPs. Until now that is. Shigeru has been on record saying Nintendo has rejected very lucrative offers from Hollywood regarding adaptations of Zelda for nearly three decades. That's how protective Nintendo is of their franchises. If this Zelda movie comes out bombing at the box office with bad reviews expect another three decades of rejection of Hollywood movie adaptations.

Definitely, I will never forget how Gerard Butler turned Phantom of the Opera into a shitshow, or Russel Crowe butchered Les Miserables (Hugh Jackman wasn't that great either).
Crowe was a lousy Javert, I don't know what they were thinking.

Jackman was a decent Valjean though I thought. Not the greatest voice but he at least put effort into the role. Hathaway's Fantine was great.

No idea who they are but they I can see it. Interesting they chose both British actors.

Both are young as well so they can play potential sequels. If they wanted.

I expected a bit more of an elfish, effeminate, otherworldy vibe from both. I guess the boy has it in some other pictures with those crazy pale eyes. Zelda looks a little tomboyish, but this is out of costume or whatever. I guess it's fine. I think going with kids was the right call.

Look at you, evaluating little boys.

Casting seems alright. The more important, more difficult thing is the script and general tone of the movie anyway. Movie adaptations are still misses sometimes. I am not sure what would work better, something in the ballbark Dungeons and Dragons did, leaning into comedy, or if Lord of the Rings epic with only a few chuckles in between might be better.

Isn't Zelda older than Link in games?
Ocarina of Time implies they're the same age since they're both kids of a similar height. Otherwise I don't think any game officially gives Zelda's age.

Link is 10-17 in OoT, 16 in Zelda 2, and 12 in Wine Waker. And 116 in BotW and 120-something in TotK.

They look good.

I always wonder why Nintendo never gets attacked by the mob calling them 'racist biggots' for not casting people like 50 Cents to play Zelda and Shea Couleé to play Link.

Yeah, they should go for a Harry Potter type fantasy vibe, not try to be serious grown up fantasy, that would get cringe. Looks like they are on the right path.

So I'm searching about Bo Bragason and it says on google she's born in 2004….
Can anyone explain to me how does a person born in 2004 be 21 yo? how does that even possible? am I trippin??? 😭😭😭

I am waiting nothing at all from this movie (because I can't see Zelda franchise in live action and think it will be trash) but glad it's not famous name actors and just on look they fit the characters.

Surprisingly stable casting. I don't feel negative about it, but I'll wait for my positive opinions until we see a trailer and how it looks in motion.

Edit: I wish Neogaf was Japanese so that people would call me Trilobit-san.
