wtf is a kernel security failure and why does it keep happening?!
@OP
Why do you refuse to see the advantages of console gaming?
so to the PC users in this thread. Please explain to me the processes i would need to take in order to get a console experience from a PC.
in this hypothetical scenario i have bought a good pc, i want to play on the couch, i want to switch on the pc with my pad and i want to launch directly in to my game library from which i can play my games.
This is reality for a lot of PC gamers yet ppl on forums will talk like it NEVER happens. It isn't the 90s anymore man! All the ppl I know in real life that have had issues don't exist. All the ppl my friend helps weekly with issues don't exist.Too many games did not launch on my pc. A couple of times they did not launch after having perfectly worked for weeks before the issue
Of course, going by forums I understood what was the issue and found a solution
But this is not how I Intend playing. You already have my money you can't ask also for my time. So I quit PC gaming very soon and never regret it

real answer is cowardice with unholy combination of unwavering loyalty to a corporation
this only applies to people who refuse to game on Pc and will quit gaming than to try it
i may be wrong, but seeing the answers in this thread, my hasty generalization fits right in
Connect your PC with a HDMI cable to your TV or use a Steamlink if your homenetwork is good, connect the controller wirelessly to your PC or Steamlink and configure Steam that BPM launches when you start the PC.
I am not doubting your friends, but somehow every time in those threads people come in and talk about their friends having so many problems with PC gaming that they cant even start any game, while actually, when you look at forums, most games dont make any problems besides some bad ports.
I dont see any posts on GAF that ask you to move certain DLLs into the isntallation folder, revert back to a GPU driver from 1 year ago just to play modern games.
i honestly was expecting more than that. If i buy gears from the MS store will that appear in my steam library? same with origin?
I like to not have control of anything.
Cinematic feeling, over 30fps feels too fast and not gamey enough.
People say console gaming is more money but I would counter that with launch ps4 400 trade in day one for pro 360, I only paid 560 to play good games at decent settings for 3/4 years and I paid 800 for my PC to be reliable for about same time.
Some PC guys in here are not helping the cause.
You don't have to act offended when people say they are not interested in your preferred way of playing games and list their reasons. If they are not good reasons to you, that is irrelevant to the discussion.
There have been "why PC gamers wont move to consoles" threads and i just never click the thread because i dont belong.
There's a difference between clarifying misconceptions about PC gaming being actively hostile with an elitist attitude.
Yes? By this logic every successful console has a shit library.
Thats not the point and I can totally get the argument when someone says he doesnt want to configure much or prefers console exclusives.
But usually in those threads people somehow live in the 90s, think you have to sit in front of a monitor, update your GPU drivers every 2 days, fiddle with games till they work, prefer a controller etc.
These arguments are "facts" that are wrong nowadays.
People actually "refuse" to play on PC? I can understand preferring one over the other, but refusing to play a game on PCbased on principle? What??or console
I game on PC (about 50/50 PC/Console TBH) and I still don't game on my PC on the TV / Couch.
Most of my games require a keyboard & mouse, a pain in the ass with couch gaming. (And yes, I've tried all combos of wireless kb with built in trackpad etc, still clunky and horrible).
PC is too big to move back/forth to my TV from my desk, too many cables to unplug / replug if I wanted to do so, risk of damage from moving it, risk of leaks (watercooled) if moved too much etc, can't run an extra long HDMI as I have family to consider using the living room too.
I can see why the PC is at a disadvantage to consoles for some, if I'm gaming on my TV, I'll use one of my consoles, if I want to play a specific PC game, I'll do it at my desk, and that coming from someone who games on PC.
I play a tonne of local multi in my living room, more than I play single player.
The only game I play online is SFV with my friends who are PC players (Im on PS4) and one of them will always have a forced restart or a driver issue.
You can say that SFV is poorly made for PC but I want to play it, why not play the more stable version?

I posted two links to ppl having issues in fall 2016 not the 90s. The guy I quoted didn't reply tho imagine that. Pc gaming isn't as simple as console gaming this is the reality. That's fine if you don't mind troubleshooting issues that seem simple to you because you have delt with it for years but ppl who haven't don't want to start. Why do pc gamers ignore or act like this isn't something that happens. Why not say " yea minor issues occur but we have a great knowledgeable community that will help you so it's not s huge deal" isn't that closer to the truth??Thats not the point and I can totally get the argument when someone says he doesnt want to configure much or prefers console exclusives.

THIS!!!!! An it's annoying when PC gamers act like this isn't the case. They say " I've never had much trouble", well either you are a liar or you atleast know a friend/person who has had a terrible experience fixing shit on a pc. It's fine that you love it but atleast be honest.
Again, you can clarify misconceptions and what you feel are misrepresentations of PC gaming without the implication that its 'fanboying' to do so, or make up mocking shitposts like 'lol30fps' or 'lolconsolehasnogames'.

Why are you moving your Pc back and forth at all? What?
No one has been forced a PC since 2015.
Money.
I love PC games (the total war and starcraft series) but money holds me back. My 4 year old PC has to suffice which means I can't play the latest total war games (warhammer and atilla) but I hope in a few years I might be able to upgrade.
That I can agree with. I have purchased about 60 games this year on my PC. I paid about 100 bucks on them. Problem is I paid about 200 on ps4 for about 30 games, but the games quality is stronger with my ps4. And as a counter to paid online. I have plus. It's 40 to 50 a year. They give me plenty of games to play as I don't play online. I'm a couch co-op gamer to the core. And with plus discounts and flash sales I've gotten to purchase more AAA games for same price or slightly above the cheap steam games/ humble what have you. I don't think the games are cheaper works as well on PC anymore. Plenty of times this year I bought a game ps4 because it was cheaper than steam. You're countering with hardware costs. In that battle consoles will be cheaper overall. However PC more then makes up for it in cheaper games and lack of online subscription fees.
I know ppl who deal with troubleshooting. One of best friend helps ppl online with their issues all the time. This is reality. I've posted links to it happening recently. Plz explain if it doesn't happen who are these non existent ppl asking for help online? Most don't spend much time on maintenance after the initial build. Much of updating is automated in the same way it is on a PS4. For controllers Steam even supports using a DS4 with tons more configurability should you want it so if you prefer a controller and a couch that is easy to achieve as well.
I play both on a PC and PS4 and the main difference is that PC games run better, look nicer and have more options for controls. I still can't believe how almost no PS4 games use gyro for aiming, it makes such a huge difference in aiming with a controller. I play most games with the Steam Controller nowadays.

I didnt do that and I am aware you dont mean me. Of course its not fanboying to prefer a console. I can totally see the pros of a console compared to a PC.
I just try to show that PC gaming isnt like the 90s anymore and in these threads a lot of people still think it is, it seems.
The fact is it happens. On pc. Consoles don't need troubleshooting to play games because it's a closed system. A lot of ppl prefer that. It's not an excuse or tribalism or lol30fpslol it's I just got off of work after going to school I got 3 hours to game I don't want any possibility that I'll have to spend a hour troubleshooting. At all. Period.I didnt do that and I am aware you dont mean me. Of course its not fanboying to prefer a console. I can totally see the pros of a console compared to a PC.

I never said that PC games never have problems. Heck. Batman ran like shit as well as Dishonored 2. Those ports had a lot of problems. I am just saying that its not really that common anymore. Otherwise you would see threads like "Fix for Doom crashes", "DLL missing in newest Skyrim Remastered port" and stuff like that on GAF far more often.
