I agree 100%.

And let me just add, remove woke agenda particularly twisted gender ideology and twisted DEI on Sony PS games. Spider man 2 and TLOU 2 are so woke infested and sadly it also looks like Intergalactic and GOY will be the same.

They already do most of these. Especially cross sharing of info/systems between studios. They're kind of renowned for it.
+ Fund indie teams with proven prototypes
Does funding stuff like Lost Soul Aside, Exiledge and DaBa: Land of Water Scar after they were originally announced as independent projects kinda count as this?

Sony execs are beyond that way of thinking i seems. Have a look at how kids play games, the emergence of cloud, Genie 3 ... any exec pitching a retreat to the safety of a single plastic box would be fired out of the board room with a cannon.

What does keeping PlayStation games on PlayStation accomplish...Besides making a few folks feel good about their box...
Prevents long term erosion of their hardware sales. Sony will not beat PS4s peak with their multiplatform strategy. Hardware sales will only slowly go down over time.

90% of those wouldn't sell more than 2-3 million in the 1st year. Then the permanent staff positions would get cut.

Its not like I can't see what he's saying. More creative stuff. More AA games. Cool. But hardware prices are never coming back down and being limited to just your 1 box is not going to do well for software. They will not be able to put the genie back in the bottle and convince PC gamers to buy a Playstation 6. Most of their exclusives have not broken out past 3 million sold. And thats not nothing, but its not what investors want. I think this guy is making a gameplan that appeals to the 40 year old PS fans, not really the future gamers.

But its their call to do what they want.

I think he is wrong about having fewer contractors and more staff. In fact, it should be the opposite. 400–600 people should be more than enough to make AAA games. I would go even further and say that the studio size shouldn't be more than 200 people.

the more people you hire, the more fat you tend to acquire, and let's not even bright the woke agenda too...just pure cancer.

Bring dem games to PC!
Yeah, with shorter delays. I literally unplugged my Pro from the TV this summer, needed the port for Switch 2. Doesn't even bother me, I haven't used the console this whole year, their software output is lacking right now.

I guess I'll get the handheld once it comes out though, if it bring something interesting to the market.

Still dunno why some people have bones to pick against Bend though.
But yeah, devaluation of Sony games is something I said when they started porting everywhere. Not that some Sony games nowadays have that much value though thanks to social pandering/DEI on it.

He missed one thing:

Sony's western devs are increasingly out of touch with what PS5 owners want. Something's gotta give.

I agree with 90% of that list but I give any of those things happening a close to zero probability. Sony has become greedy AF and they're out chasing the almighty dollar which negates the majority of those suggestions.

It's tough because they're going to have a difficult time producing enough exclusive content to convince people to pay $800 (or however much it'll cost) for a PS6 when people can just download Steam onto their laptops.

I think they're going to have cross gen PS5 games for 75% of the PS6 gen. PS6 hardware sales will slow down. Costs will keep increasing. And Sony stock is much more affected by PS, so they will have to demonstrate growth somewhere. You pick where the growth is most likely. Does anyone believe that is going to come from hardware?

Yep. This is going to matter even more when Sony releases its own PS6 handheld console and has to compete with SteamDeck and Xbox PC handhelds that can play the exact same games.

The people locked into PS will stay locked in. The people locked into Steam will stay locked in. Everyone is already locked in.

This industry was build on exclusives.. Nintendo continues to thrive in this environment as sony did as of last gen... and the only example of a hardware maker not being 100% exclusive is MS and look what happened to their console.. this blatant clear revisionism of the importance of exclusives games as something of little importance and only fuel for console wars is a pathetic port begging strategy by people that dont give a fuck about playstation

These ones are very strong statements, and they clearly speak of what is wrong with Western devs, in general.

+ Build a stronger culture of listening to each member of the team, over focus groups

+ Encourage, reward and promote the outspoken team members more, not the yes men

PS doesn't need to do anything. Their fanboys have nowhere else to go...and they know it. If they buy PCs (which they all claim they hate because they don't want to be fiddling with settings and updating drivers) then they'll just be buying the Playstation games anyway...

So no, fanboys need to just sit down and accept what will be.
