Holy Fuck,I am shocked, especially it happened onstage.

R.I.P Nick Meza

Former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza reportedly passed away Saturday night (May 21) while performing with the band OHM: at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California. He was 51 years old.

One person who was present at The Baked Potato last night told BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "It appeared to be a seizure but [Nick] stopped breathing. Two patrons took over and began CPR until EMS arrived. EMS worked on him for 25-plus minutes, including adrenaline shots, three shocks and non-stop compressions."

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine tweeted: "Tell me this isn't true. I woke at 4am to hear Nick Menza passed away on May 21 playing his drums with Ohm at the Baked Potato. #nickmenzarip."

Rust in peace is one of the greatest albums ever written and a huge part of my teenage years. This is terrible news. RIP

Shit, on stage? That's awful.

Never really listened to megadeth, but I have friends who love them. RIP. Hope his family, friends and fans are doing okay.

Didn't Dave write a song on the latest album bagging him out too? It's called 'the emperor'. Holy Wars will always be the greatest metal song in my eyes. Hopefully Nick is rusting peacefully.

I didn't see this one coming.
Good drummer and seemed like a fun guy in the "making of Youthanasia" video I had.
Please, Mustaine, leave your condolences at that.

I remember hearing Rust In Peace for the first time in 7th grade. After hearing the first minute or so of the drumming on Holy Wars I decided that no matter what I do in life, I must play this style of music.

R.I.P. Menza and thanks for the inspiration.

Incredible drummer. Rust in Peace is my favorite Megadeth album, and one of the best of all time.

RIP.

That's really, really horrible. Rest, don't rust, in peace.

He played on these four Megadeth albums, released from 1990 to 1997.

Rust In Peace = Blueprint for heavy metal / thrash.

Such an underrated drummer, gone. =(

His father, Don Menza is still alive and was the gentlemen who played the Pink Panther theme on Saxophone.

That's terrible....he was Megadeth's drummer on it's brightest era. I wasn't expeting him to ever return to the band but still....really sad news, so young

Another dead musician in 2016 : (

My condolences to his friends and family. It's not even June yet and so many people have died. Damn... 51

Shocking one of my all time favourite drummers

Rust In Peace is THE absolute monster thrash album for any metal fan his drum work on that album is insane

RIP brother :(

I'm still in shock, such a shame. He was THE best drummer Megadeth ever had in my opinion, his drumming style and sound fit Megadeth so much.

He was also one of my favorite drummers.

RIP Nick, you left us doing what you loved the most.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK

This shit came out of nowehere. Like, it's the first celebrity death that I legitimately have been shocked by in a while.
