I don't think he'll be at Ferrari in the long term. I did think it slightly unfair during the Red Bull years that his detractors said he was just getting pole, getting in to the lead and taking lights to flag first place victories because the car was dominant and that he couldn't really race from a lower position.

I'm now wondering if there was some truth to that.

The city of Sao Paolo elected a right wing business man and TV guy that is saying that he will not spend a dime with the circuit and actually wants to privatize it.

Probably some of his friends needs a huge area to build up a big ass industrial plant or a condo... ¬¬

I would say RBR are in the best position for a championship, probably for the next 2 years.

Between RIC and VES... If Renault get their shit together and Newey delivers the goods, there's definitely going to be a great shot for them.

I hope Merc stays in the fight and we can get 3 or even 4 drivers trading wins next year, with the odd Ferrari interference, lol.

Not with Nico as a teammate. If Webber had given Vettel half the trouble that Nico gives Lewis throughout a season, Seb would have a lot less wins. Schumy also benefited greatly from his teammates being subpar.

True, but with Jos as his dad I don't think he'll make the horrible career decisions that Alonso has made.

Either way, next year is wide open.

One can dream.

We already know Renault is doing some radical engine redesign and Red Bull is doing a radically different chassis than the rest.
They'll either do really well... or really terribly.

I'm talking about the entire season. Of course he's going to coast it right now, if he can. It would be stupid not to. But we still have to see if he can consistently challenge Lewis for the win, instead of giving up after 10 laps and finish +5 seconds behind him.

He made one big mistake like Alonso and Verstappen. Didn't really look "all over the place".

Without that mistake and maybe with a better pit stop which added another 5s, he could have been fourth today. Doesn't really look like the fifth place is that off after all he was driving a Ferrari which isn't famous for its mechanical grip.

He's a much smoother driver than Lewis. You can't praise Lewis for being faster while putting his hardware failures on the team or luck or whatever.

I sort of agree and I also dislike the way he's handled the last races, he's putting too much faith on not having a failure. But if he wins the WDC, he will have done so by flat out beating Lewis.

I mean over the course of the latter half of the season. I think he's a great driver...but he's driving unhappy and it is showing on the track.

Yeah. I mean the Red Bull aero design team has never fucked up since they started winning races but we'll see how this turns out.

With tokens gone, things can also change a LOT during 2017. The first few races aren't going to say as much as they did recently.

I'd like some proof of Rosberg being a "smoother driver". Besides, Mercedes have confirmed Hamilton's driving style has zero impact on the reliability of his engine, on a couple of occasions this year.

I have to say, this season has been absolutely stellar. We've had some amazing races this year, Merc dominance aside, this has been a highly entertaining year of races.

Hamilton's records are impressive as hell, the fact his teammate is about to win a championship of him shows how good Rosberg is.

If next year Mercedes can live with whatever RBR do and have Mclaren/Ferrari close we could have a special season here.

With those reg changes promising such gigantic lap time differences, I'm tempted on putting my money more on a Brawn 09 type situation than a 2010/2012 type situation (multi-team clusterfuck). But I'll pray for the latter.

Mercedes have stated that Lewis' car failures are not down to his driving style.

Great drive from Max and he clearly showed he has what it takes to drive a car better than most on the grid. Just hooked it up today.

Shame about the last red flag, didn't feel right but never mind.

Glad Lewis got the win, annoying that Rosberg got 2nd but there we go. I was celebrating in the car when Max took him.

Just wish Hamilton had had a fraction more luck this season. Would literally only need a fraction.

Agreed. But Lewis is doing himself proud with the last 3 races. Either way he's driven well. Just a bit of bad luck this year.

Well, things in Brazil are usually better when they are private administered. So, yes. The problem is that keeping the racetrack is expensive as fuck and Brazil's motorsport scenario is ominous outside the F1. I don't know if there will be companies interested since our racing calendar only has the F1 GP as something really big. We have the Brazilian Stock Car but outside that, things are pretty gloomy.

Yep, all he can do it turn up and win races. It's out of his hands beyond that as it largely has been all season outside of the dodgy starts, of which I'm still not sure how much was him and how much was the car.

It would have been nice to go to the last race and it just be 6 points between them, meaning whoever wins the 1-2 gets the title. Can't just cruise around in 2nd place then.
