Forspoken has been delayed to January 24, 2023

you know. I don't want this to be a bad game - I don't want any bad games but the newest footage just looked rough. However some of the technology/spells looked very interesting/fun to use and I think this bodes very well for squares future next gen efforts.

Also, this game looks cool enough, but it has "pretty turd capitalizing on what Japanese people think is relevant social politics in the west," and "Jesus Christ, we need to make some kind of money on FFXV's ridiculous engine or it's hari Kari time," -the game....written all over it.

It's written by white westerners to begin with.

Can't get excited for this game. Doesn't feel like a Square Enix game, just something in between that feels weird.

"The following media contains potentially sensitive content"

I know there were people looking forward to this game, but jeez. Hope no one gets PTSD over this announcement.
Haha yeah WTF. I know people are sensitive and fragile these days but holy shit.

I thought there were titties hidden behind the warning or something. But, alas...

Look at the essay you just wrote that has nothing to do with Forspoken. Tell me what about Forspoken is pandering in regards to race?

She's from NY and is puerto rican, the buck stops there bruh. It's a completely new and original character. You can dislike her or the game for whatever reason but bringing up race for this makes NO sense for this

Yeah, I uh...didn't say that any of that "essay," (two paragraphs) had to do with Forspoken. In fact, the original thing you responded to me on had me ribbing the guy who called black people colored, lmfao. I was elaborating upon the scenarios in which diversity bothers me, not implicitly stating that this game contains examples of it. Were that the case, it would have warranted a THIRD paragraph. We're on the same side of the fence, buddy. Calm down.

Did you really just call a black girl "colored"?....wow
Just wait until you discover what the "POC" part of the leftists' favorite term "BIPOC" means!

Anyway, on topic:
I'm interested in this game only after seeing the latest gameplay previews. It is probably the closest we'll get to a modern day Infamous. Not surprised by the delay though, I wouldn't want to go up against heavy hitters either, especially if Hogwarts Legacy doesn't get delayed. They'd get absolutely sandwiched out between GoWR and Hogwarts.

An odd way to communicating a delay.... "as a result of key partners..."

Sounds like they were on track but something external has made them bump their release out.

Yeah, Ragnarok is coming.

I'm going to start referring to white people as uncolored people. I'll still call black people black people, but I like to take the road less traveled.

Will still probably buy it.

Three years from now.

For $20.

In the "Strong black women in gaming," showcase.
Yup to all of this. "Strong black woman in gaming" being written by 7 white people, 4 of them men. This game looks like something written by Quantic Dreams...like Detroit.

These guys should've played Miles Morales. Not only was that kid very well written, you can tell a lot of research went into everything, even if the writers are both white.

I always feel studios want to represent different people, but never hire THOSE different people to help write those characters. It's confusing.

The game still looked like a tech demo the last time we saw it...and to top it all, the game is on sale as a preorder for...80€ for the standard edition and 105€ (!!!) for the special edition. That's even more than what i paid for a game like Gran Turismo 7, lmao.

Everything about this game smells like a flop int he making and i WANT to like it...that's what's frustrating.

Go up to a black person and call them colored and report back what your findings are

Exactly. I actually had Miles Morales in my back pocket as an example of "existing property, but gay/black/asian/whatever," done well, if the conversation went that way. People are so adversarially inclined and tribal about their opinions that they paint in broad strokes, either you're for all inclusion and diversity no matter how clumsy, ham fisted or disingenuous it is, or you want every piece of media to star Captain America and Chris Redfield.

In Spiderverse, Miles Morales is a well written character, who portrays a different flavor of the setting without becoming tokenized, and it makes sense for him to be where he is. Same with Morpheus or Locke or Mifune or Niobe in The Matrix, or Bayek in Assassin's Creed: Origins, or any other of a million examples.

This game, preemptively, just appears to ooze this atmosphere of sassy young black girl in a world that's outside her culture, where she slay queens her way to respect, and we all learn a lesson, and *THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT STORY* but it's so often done with the subtlety of an airplane assisted brain surgery. If it's conveyed with a deft hand and I'm incorrect, I will be ecstatic.

I like they way you're basically suggesting these people are so inherently violent just saying a word to them will make them instantly want to assault you.

I feel like they still haven't shown enough of this game for me to make a decision. Just a bunch of footage of some chick running around a barren land and shooting shit out of her hand. If that's all the game is then it's gonna need a longer delay.

I like they way you're basically suggesting these people are so prone to violence just saying a word to them will make them instantly want to assault you. Interesting take.
That's your preconceived notion of black people apparently because I didn't imply that, I was quite clear for that person to say it and report back hoping they'll be educated on why it's offensive violence wasn't on my mind.

We get God of War and this one is the one getting delayed...i'll live.

edit: Just realized Sony is getting Forspoken and FFXVI the same year, with FFVII Rebirth following right after in 2024. And around that time, Spider-Man 2, Factions somewhere in here, god knows how many other games. The future is looking good for 2013/2014!
Hey, technically FFVII Rebirth could be a 2023 game.

Of course you don't. Yet, you think tons of people care about House Flipper and Powerwash Sim. Strange.
one is a RPG that you've most certainly played before and another is a niche but fun simulator about something quite a few people find pretty satisfying

I don't get the hate towards this game

Let them do their thing and see how it turns out
Agreed! Too many too quick to judge. At least let the game release. I think the delays will help the game. More time to polish and iron out bugs.
I'm hoping it turns out great

This is at least the second delay. Not sure they should sink much more time into this. It's going to bomb regardless.

i hope they delay it to "never coming out" status because who gives a shit about this game lol
This is such a weird post, there is option not to play it when it comes out if you don't care about it.

I don't know why people act so weirdly on internet.

I think this is good for the game, the few gameplay snippets we've seen has been pretty underwhelming and a bit janky but I can still see the potential.

Yes I would because it's my job lol. Business is business. I had to review and preview many shit games.

Ah right, didn't you make those review threads where you kept going on about how incompetent and bad IGN, Gamespot etc. are?

And here you are saying a game is shit without having played it.

I hope the people bashing it now aren't going to heelfaceturn and backpedal if the game turns out to be decent. Game very much is going to tell a "Alice in Wonderland" kind of story. Combat always seemed interesting to me.

This game has flop written all over it. Only way it will be saved is if the reviews are better than expected. It needs to be low 80s at the least.

Based on what? Even Valve wouldn't release HL3 on the same day as lets say a COD title. If you know another game is going to push you aside and mess with your sales, better just wait it out.

Look what happened to Titanfall 2. It didn't kill the sales, it killed the whole franchise lol because they released between COD and BF.

If it was FF16, they are their own titan and wouldn't care about GOW but Forspoken has yet to establish itself so it doesn't need to fight against big boys.

Forspoken was scheduled to release October 2022. One month before Ragnarok. There was no conflict. Not sure why this is being cited multiple times.
