Fortnite Chapter 3 Gameplay Leaked - Receives a huge UE5 Upgrade

Which part and why?
You claim that people don't build much in a game that's core is building. So that's wrong. You claim that structures people build can easily be destroyed with fireflies (or fire in general for that matter). That's also incorrect.

Like I said it's been several weeks for me, but unless they nerfed building and removed reinforced walls, you're wrong.

Building is ALL people do and a lot of the long distance attack possibilities were nerfed because they removed bolt action snipers. You try to engage from a distance and people just build and heal.

Anytime a player took any sort of damage their only plan is to turtle (build themselves in) and heal.

Most players only plan of attack is to build to you and shotgun you.

The game is such shit and never knows what kind of game it wants to be. They shove in all kinds of stupid shit without any attempt at balance.

But, it's just a colorful kids game so whatever.

I never build and I win probably about 90% of my solo runs.

There's nothing better than making a sweaty cry by destroying their lego masterpiece right before killing them.

Ok, I have never played Fortnite nor did I watch more than a few clips which I stumbled upon.
Watching this leaves me behind with absolutely no clue, what this game is about. It seems like it's "Fanservice - The Game"

Explain me like I'm 5yo - what is Fortnite?

A bunch of people try to kill each other with shooty shoot. sometimes they play lego

Looks more like Playstation Home in a 12 year olds' feverdream

Nothing about that video is showing anything that could not be done with UE4.

Im not seeing nanite levels of geometry or lumen lighting, it looks like fortnite looks now.

The particle effects when chopping down trees are completely new and well beyond the current game.

You maybe see a couple of builders at the end of matches when it becomes close quarters but generally nobody builds except to climb during the match at least on consoles, and yes you can get stronger building materials but most people build with wood since it's the default.

Yeah there does seem some improvements, like the trees destruction you mentiones and certain effects seem improved, but I was expecting more from a current gen only version.

That will never happen. Unless the lowest end Android device becomes as powerful as a PS5.

I don't know. What kind of hardware is it going to require to run decently? What I like on console is the fact that being quite simple the game has a quite high resolution and I can snipe things from very far away (my favorite strategy, I don't build).

I haven't seen what it looks like on PC but it's a huge step-up for consoles. PS5 only received a small graphical boost from the PS4 version, so there has always been a huge difference between the gameplay and cutscenes.
Didn't PS5 & XsX receive a "next-gen" gfx update before pc's even?

Did some fortnite seasons back, but after they kinda ignored TR I was outta there in a blink. I hate BR but like the fortnite concept.

Would love to see a proper tdm, ctf or something similar. Having these modes in Halo Infinite just makes it hard to go back because of that BR focus.

Fortnite has like 70+ game modes at all times now. Lots of different CTF, TDM modes on tap.

I win constantly and I'm no builder. You just need to use your brain. You only need to develop a winning strategy that you like.. and then refine it , practice it and use it. Adapt to changes in mechanics. It's not rocket science... many kids are quite good at it.

I've found it fun since day 1. It's certainly a stretch to call it "shit". Not for you? Maybe. Shit? No.

Dude, it's free and its fucking awesome

The hype is well deserved

It's colorful, playful, and just about as pure as a game can get

I'd place it right in the same league of games like Rocket League, Fall Guys, and Splatoon

Just bright, cheerful, happy games

Take it as seriously as you want it, they start you off with beginners so you have all the time in the world to learn the ins and outs

Game rules, and I regret waiting as long as I did to play with people when asked

As much as it's fun to make fun of fortnite, they do keep trying to evolve the game. They lost some people but have double an amazing job of retaining players really.

Fortnite is a Mt Rushmore game at this point. A revered institution.

When someone criticizes Fortnite, it's akin to a purple haired, xer pronouned, wokie criticizing Thomas Jefferson.

Move along pleb.

While I don't enjoy the game personally, (but can get top 10 usually if I try to piss my son off)

I can see and accept its relevance in the modern gaming community.

The people that claim not to get it are the same ones clinging to radio dramas and broadcast TV. (I love radio dramas, hate broadcast TV)

I have now won or reached the top 3 of plenty solo games and all I ever build are a couple protection walls and stairs, never anything fancy. It is totally playable without going nuts with the building mechanics like try hard twitch streamers or esports pros.

So people on the fence, just try it out.

getting to top 10 or even 5 is piss easy. i've won many solo games and if i can do it then anyone can. yeah people might build like crazy but you can outsmart them. i can't build for shit. all i build are ramps to quickly get up steep hills or buildings and even then i can still fuck it up lol.

i do agree people should actually give it a shot but i suppose it's easier to just keep hating. plus most people who come into these threads have no interest in ever playing anyway.

it's obvious you're only in here to stir shit but i'll answer you. it's a Battle Royale. 100 players drop into a map. storm gradually narrows the playing area. last one standing wins. simple.

it's free to play and as you level up you get free items. if you want you can buy Vbucks with real money which is the in game currency. You can buy a Battle Pass which offers a premium tier of levels and you get better rewards. outside the levelling rewards there is a store you can buy things with Vbucks. these are mostly special/timed items. Some of the recent ones I bought were Jinx (League of Legends), Master Chief (Halo), Harley Quinn (Batman). The game has its own characters but it does a lot of cross overs. If there is a popular movie/game out then it's possible Fortnite will do a crossover. Sometimes it will be a famous person (Ariana Grande, Neymar, Lebron James, etc). There's star wars stuff, tomb raider, halo, marvel, league of legends, spiderman, football (soccer) stuff, etc, etc. There are also in game events like concerts. The last one was Ariana Grande but there was a Travis Scott (eww) and Marshmello one.

the game is split into chapters and seasons. we were on Chapter 2 Season 8 (Season #18) but Chapter 3 Season 1 (Season #19) is about to start. Each season there is a new theme with some story/lore to go with it and the map gets refreshed often.

Solo isn't the only Battle Royale mode. you can do Duos or Squads to team up with others. There LTM modes with add twists to the usual gameplay. Outside Battle Royale you have Save The World and Creative. Creative is exactly what it sounds like...build your own maps and stuff. Save The World is what the game was originally going to be and is a tower defense co-op game. You explore maps doing quests/challenges and building forts to hold off waves of attacks.

I do agree with a lot of this. At one point they did have the perfect nerf weapon which was the claymore mines, attach a few and boom. Down you come, but they were only in for a a season or two. Firefly jars, they need to up cumbustion level about 25% so the fire spreads quicker. Or just bring in a flamethrower.

downloading!

not interested in spiderman or anything but just looking forward to new engine and gameplay stuff.

edit: downloaded. stuck on this

Same here !??!

Curious on the platform you're on, on PS5 the water looks quite different, seems to be reflecting some off screen landmarks, so it's not ssr thank goodness.

Now some furniture is floating past.

Forgive me, but what happens if only two of you left, you just choose not to build and camp a room? Won't they have to come and find you? Is there anything to force the sta doff to end (I assume the shrinking circle only gets so small)

Those random weather events should be fun.

Once it gets to the smallest circle, the storm begins to move, so you can't just hide in a corner with gun pointing at the exit/entrance. They did have a mode this year that had a randomly always moving storm circle which was a lot of fun.

I never had it on my radar and never gave it any attention until a few friends (both gaming and non-gaming) wanted to get together and chat. We can chat while playing and it cross plays with a lot of different systems. This way I can play on my Series X with friends that play on their kid's Switch or PCs.

Thanks to this game being so easily accessible, I have a standing play night with the guys even though we are scattered all over the US.
