Forza Horizon 5 |OT| Are you a Mexican, or a Mexican't?

Been using that. Nice car, feels faster than the 160ish it was topping out at.
I owned 3 of the regular 1.7 litre Pumas (not at the same time). Yamaha engine, went like shit off a shovel and handled corners like a go-kart. Such a shame they stopped making them in 2001.

Also, that Steve McQueen advert for the Puma has never been bettered.

PS: It was also Top Gear Car of the year

Is it possible to make progress in this game without tuning your car? I’m at the very first competition in the campaign and I’m using the orange corvette that you get at the start of the game. No matter what I do, all the other cars zoom past me at the start of the race and I never even come close to their back mirror again. Am I doing something wrong? I’m new to Horizon.

All cars are competitive with cars in the same class. (S2, S1, A, B etc.)

I'm not really sure what you could be doing wrong that's causing you to end up at the back of the pack like that.

Are you using the drive line?

I’m loving the game but can’t stand that your driver talks. The silent driver worked in the other games. The voice acting is the biggest weakness in this game and the driver having full conversations just makes it worse.
I take it you cant turn it off?

Whilst I still think the first game has by far the best progression system (certain cars for certain events, new events unlocking after each wristband tier, actually rewarding winning), this game has at least a much better progress system than 4, 2 and maybe 3’s as well. It’s not great but it’s something after the shambles that 4’s progress system was.

Yep. It’s just like my engine has 3 times less acceleration than the competition regardless of the car I pick. I tried with a Lamborghini that I got from the car pack and the result was the same.

I was just thinking that they should have every event location be two fold:

-Free for all
-Tied to a specific car/tuning setup.

That would allow both freedom and also encourage people to try out different vehicles.

Maybe there should be an accolades "track" like Apex and Baja or whatever in-game that is the typical rags-to-riches type progression

BusierDonkey BusierDonkey any way you can add the Gaf club to the op so people can find it easier?

The more the better so we can get the club higher up the leader boards and have a wide variety of drivatars to play with.

And the most crazy part is that the photomode is just supersampling and adding bokeh, everything else is the same in game which is mindblowing (still wish there was ray tracing in game or photomode atleast). Here a example

Not gonna lie I just spent half an hour in photo mode going around my car being impressed with the minor details and reflections.

Yea, sorry. Just so used to these being used as console war fodder. Forgot about the actual fun it is with photo mode.

Another night I have to force myself away from the game and get some sleep... I'm still in awe with the game and how the folks at Playground pulled it off, 60fps is so good and the game still looks stunning in performance mode on the XSX and I love the new improved engine sounds.

Anyway I did my first Goliath race around the map in a maxed S2 car and it took 12 minutes, it was such a rush and immersive experience, had Jason Nevin's remix of "It's Like That" on by Run DMC (Block Party chanel) and zooming in high speed around the map, it was heavenlike, or uh I hope heaven is like that.

Completely forgot that this is a $60 title as well. Have to wonder if MS eventually does a price bump once cross-gen ends.

Either way, super excited once again.

I played a bunch of FH4 but still definitely a car novice. Any recommendations or must-haves I should pick up from the Auto Show or auction in each class, particularly good value ones? Not a fan of drifting, but something well rounded that I could tune for street/dirt racing and just cruising around would be cool.

Buy whatever car suits your fancy, convert it to AWD auto tune it for whatever class it is..... win.

The Mitsubishi and the Hoonigan Escort are both really good for the free cars they give you at the beginning. They have carried me through a ton of races with no customizing.

Pretty much. Honestly I don’t know why they have the tuning modes when it really doesn’t matter much. Maybe in online play where you can get the .0001 second faster speed? But the auto finishes everything in the solo campaign with zero problems.

Played it for an hour now, I think the biggest change isn’t the graphics but the simulation aspects. After hundreds of hours on FH4 the difference when driving heavy vehicles (like the Bronco) is really noticeable.
This.

Other Forza Horizon games the cars feel too easy to handle or master.
This one I can already tell will be a bit more challenging which is awesome.
Even the Supra you start with at the beginning takes a bit more concentration to handle.

I'm about three or four hours in. For reference, here is my history with the game: FH3 -> FH -> FH2/F&F -> FH4

I consider myself a little burnt out on the series. FH3/FH are definitely my favorites. FH4 is my least favorite by a large margin. FH5 Impressions:

-This isn't a knock as I think all of the games are stunning but I can't say I'm blown away by the visuals. The density of objects in the world is certainly a boost over its' predecessors but it looks like another Forza Horizon which isn't a bad thing, considering the quality of visuals the series displays.
-The verticality of this map is locale is great and the few races I've done are already more memorable than anything in FH4's map which I'd call uninspired. Some of the Baja cross country events have you bombing down the side of a mountain in a suicidal manner which is equal parts white knuckle and brilliant.
-The showcase events really need to be retired at this point. I thought the intro was interesting with an airdrop of the Bronco but then it did it three more times followed up with a showcase event of motorcycles being airdropped out of the airplane you are racing. This gimmick just isn't interesting anymore.
-I really liked the adventure mission on the volcano. Hopefully there are more of these types of events.
-Progression needs an overhaul in the series but I suppose it doesn't help that I always buy the $100 version of this game. I mentioned it earlier in the thread but I wish they'd tie cars to events to force you out of your comfort zone and then let you do a free for all selection afterwards.
-The map seems less cluttered with events this time around. I'm sure this will change as you unlock new venues and expand them, but FH4 definitely gave me paralysis by analysis when looking at its' map.
-Cars seem to have more of an individual personality this time around. That Supra (Hoonigan?) Drift car is squirrely as hell.
-Wish this had custom soundtrack support.

I wish these servers would calm down so I could test out online road trip or whatever they are calling it this year.

Just don't trust all these disconnects right now.

How is the button mapping on PC using the Xbox version of Logitech wheels still busted.
'Press button 1 to start'
'Press button 22 to brake'
'Press button 8 to rewind'
Seriously?

Me either usually. However this time I made an exception because the game is truly worth it, the devs deserve it, and I hardly buy any Xbox games due to GamePass usually. Also if I bought a PS5 game it would be 70 bucks so I paid 15 bucks more for this and have gained 2 expansion packs and some other stuff in the process.

I will likely buy Halo Infinite too. Don't want my entire game library to reside in just GamePass.
Yeah I stumped for premium because I know I will end up buying it anyway or paying the same or more to get the expansions separately. Plus with the base game on gamepass it is still only $45.

So whats everybody's favorite class to drive at?

I prefer A because it's not so insanely fast that you have to brake on every tiny corner You can sneak up on and make a lot of ground with smart use of the brakes and lines in this class.

I love Off Road vehicles and Cross Country events are my favorite and this is the car of my choice.

Was messing around with Photo Mode and thought this came out quite hot.

Given how large Forza Horizon 5's Mexico is and how packed it is with things to do, it goes without saying that players are going to be spending a lot of time in Playground Games' newest open world racer.

Soon, it'll be in the hands of the masses, and ahead of that, here, we've prepared a handy list of beginners tips and tricks that you should keep in mind as you cruise through Mexico.
