Fanatec Wheels : Got this info from the steam forums and it fixes the crashing. Download the 356 fanatec driver, uninstall your old drivers, reboot, install 356 driver, reboot and now the game should not crash. I've been playing for 45 minutes so far which beats my previous record of 15 minutes without crashing. I actually got to watch some cutscenes for the events, but not sure that was a good thing. You don't have to uninstall or install any of the firmware just the drivers. I guess they were testing on the older drivers so not sure what is in the new ones to cause crashing. You still have to use compat mode though.
Well up to and 1 hour and 45 minutes with no crashing. Weird.

I'm genuinely confused. Isn't the point of paying for GamePass to NOT have to buy the games? That's why I have it. Otherwise, you're just paying twice for the game just because you can. Unless I'm missing something?
The point of GamePass for me is to play games I normally wouldn’t be interested in buying full-stop, with the added benefit of being able to try smaller games I normally wouldn’t play, out of pure curiosity. When it comes to a game like a Forza Horizon 5 - I’m going to purchase because regardless of my GamePass membership status down the line I always want access to the game. It belongs in my collection. So no, not everyone perceives the value of GamePass in the same way.

Yeah, that's some weird shit. Usually the newer XGS games are 10% off and the older games are 20% off. I just chatted with MS support and the agent seemed to indicate that it's not an error. Disappointing.
Very weird. Maybe they saw those pre-order numbers and were like 🤔

Every once in a while my screen just goes black for a second, I’m in PC, any one else experiencing this?

and today the game started randomly dropping to 30fps from 60, just for a moment, but it’s bizarre. Game has been nearly perfect til today.

Auction house is annoying as fuck. I guess it doesn’t update fast enough because half the time my fucking bid isn’t accepted. Also getting sniped is bullshit- let me place a reserve bid

Curious if the game shows you the classes it makes up for certain seasonal challenges.

Seasonal runway danger sign says you need an S1-class "retro sports car" to complete it.

I got a three star rating in the '69 Dodge Charger. The game told me it's not the right kind of car. Is there a place to see if your car is a "retro sports car" for example or is just trial and error? Or could it be because this Charger is a Forza Edition? Not sure why that would make a difference though.

Go to change car and it will show you a list. Then press y I think and you can filter until everything except modern sports cars. It might be select instead oF Y, cant remember tbh. One does manufacturer and one does class etc

Is there a way to turn off this fucking checkpoints marker during the race?

Yes let's make the game even more trivially easy from a driving perspective, that's exactly what it needs.

You can already drive through trees and metal barriers turn to dust so sure why not, just remove everything else and drive in a straight line to the finish line.

When you're on the seasonal challenges page the right stick allows you to get each card to show you what the restrictions are.

Just did a convoy with my son and the first hour we played was fine, although we’d disappear and reappear occasionally, but after that we had connection issues where we’d be in the same convoy but his name had a spinning loading circle next to it. He showed on the map, but not the game. Hopefully they get that ironed-out. Had a fucking blast doing Horizon Arcades and Danger Signs together.

Just started playing this game, but it seems like you can just tune your car with someone else's settings, then win everything? Unless you really ramp up the difficulty settings.

I also loathe the whole Gen Z festival concept. The graphics are gorgeous though and I'm not saying it's a bad game, just a game that isn't for me and I'm a bit sad about it, that's all.
Agreed. You also get the feeling of being carried like a baby. Win a race? You're the greatest, here's some points! Lost a race? You're the greatest, here's some points! Do a flawless race? You're the greatest, here's some points. Screw up the whole race, bring down fences and lamp posts, smash against other cars, etc.? You're the greatest, here's some points!
It really is a game for the generation of participation trophies.

The graphics trump all the rest of me, though. At least for the first few hours of gameplay.

I just wish there was a way to turn all that crap off along with the cringy character/avatar stuff.

I've made the game enjoyable for myself by turning rewind off, assists off, manual gearing, driving line off and setting AI to pro (I'd also like to turn damage on but the AI are too retarded for that and it's just frustrating), but yeh, all of this nonsense really kicked into another gear with FH4 and they seem to have doubled down on it in this game along with the seasons stuff (which I genuinely thought they removed until it appeared in the menus this week along with the list of cars that can only be unlocked via doing the seasonal stuff).

Clearly there's an audience for all of it because there are more people playing horizon than ever but personally it makes me sad considering the earlier entries in the series. This is basically COD/Fortnite if it were a racing game, even down to the types of multiplayer events. Yesterday I had to hunt down an actual treasure chest in an area just for 50k credits...

All the reasons I fell off FH4 are still there but the much better map along with the improved driving physics are keeping me engaged for now at least.

When it gets going it is awesome, but jeez does it take quite-some-time on the base Xbox when it comes to actually getting on the road to go on the joy-ride...I went to go out and try a special stunt event and it was taking forever just to load...(this being on Gamepass..) in the end I just turned the console off, all that was happening was just a spinning wheel in the corner..

Tuning cars to specific tracks or tasks make sense. It is weird to just drop in a community tune, but TBH I'm not so engrossed I want to actually spend the time tweaking settings to get different performance just yet. I did that shit back in the GT 1-3 days but am an old man who values his time nowadays. Maybe I'll get the itch again, who knows. I say the community tunes are a good thing for me, even though they reduce the difficulty.

Spent some more time in the paint booth last night before I realized a few hours had passed. I reworked another car I originally made in Forza Motorsport 5

Originally it was solid navy blue with white decals but I was limited by layers in FM5 and masking layers didn't exist. I remade a couple manufacturer decals completely and added the Quantum colors and backdrop to the car. The end result is a massive improvement.

The car really pops at night and in high contrast shots

There are a couple small things to touch-up but I'm pretty happy with the changes the extra layers and masking shapes allowed. I've been digging through my old liveries looking for more to update.

That is sick as hell man. Nice work!

Only just started playing. This game is just so beautiful. It's obviously technically impressive, but just driving around the world and seeing the vistas...it's incredible stuff.

Worth the download to just drive around and look at stuff.

"Look at this pristine example of sacred rainforest and untouched archaeological sites."

"Let's invite 20,000 hipsters to come see it and play dance music."

The actual game part of Forza is really fantastic but sometimes it feels like it's fantastic in spite of itself with regard to the story/writing.

I always lumped these games in with the Fast and Furious movies in that both are dumb as fuck but I thoroughly enjoy them. I think the garbage writing is just self-aware enough that I'm not bothered by it at all. It's all good fun and the games themselves are really enjoyable and keep me coming back for years. I think it might make it worse if they decided to get serious with the setting and story.

I need to revisit some of the speed traps as I see people have bumped me off most of the top spots.

I think I bugged the one at the festival because I had to know how people were hitting 350 in the Porsche and went through that one at around 400 and since have hit it at close to 300 in a Lambo but not moving me from the 290ish mark

I need a group to knock out these Horizon Arcade challenges. The combination of bad servers and bad randos makes these impossible.
Yeah.. Mine seem empty and then hardly anyone does it right. I played Forza Horizon 4 an average amount but I don't remember the players being that bad.

They don't even show on the map when the arcade zones are showing. It's one or the other. Game is very buggy. I

If anyone wants to work on arcade challenges let me know. Kilau on xbl

That's a good analogy and I totally agree.

Haven't played a Horizon title since 2 and I'm really enjoying this one.

Oh btw, your drivatar is a fucking asshole.

Last I saw you had a 309 and I can’t break 308.5

Need to find a better tune tomorrow

Side note the one tune labeled 311 MPH…

spongebob squarepants bullshit GIF

Yeah I saw that tune. I was doing better with my own, around 307, but I downloaded that miserable pile of lies without realizing I hadn't saved my own. There is a tune called 310 that I ended up using to get the 309 but it's a clown tune where the car will frisbee off the road if you so much as fart which doesn't work well if there's any traffic to dodge.

I think to get higher than 310 you'd need to be in the hot season. Wet season roads are several degrees colder. I was checking telemetry during several more attempts and noticed running at night the surface temps stayed lower and I had trouble breaking 306 because the car was actually producing wheel slip on the hill just before the trap. Running in the late afternoon the surface temps were much higher and weren't slipping there. If I keep it pinned past the trap later in the afternoon I'm at 310+ by the bend in the road. The Forza Motorsport underpinnings of the game do play a role in this game. If you drive into the ice water at night on the volcano for instance you'll see tire temps drop to -1C if you sit there. Around the active volcano the ground hits 65C. Both too much heat and too much cold have a negative impact on the handling in the game. While it's not as amplified as in the Motorsport games, when you're trying to squeeze out another mph it does affect things. Pretty cool for an open-world arcade racer.

Oh btw, your drivatar is a fucking asshole.

The DeLorean is one of the most iconic on-screen cars in pop culture, ever since Back to the Future released in 1985. It’s currently available in the Festival Playlist for a whopping 26 points, but a glitch has been discovered that lets you buy it for only 15,000 Credits Here’s how to do it using this incredibly easy exploit!

We’re not exactly sure how long this cheat will last, so get it while it’s working! To do this, all we have to do is go to the Car Collection tab, then select Delorean under manufacturer , and first hover over the empty space where the car would be. If you check the button prompts at the bottom, you can see that there’s no button to currently purchase it. But if you back out, and then come back in, you can now press Y to purchase.
