Yes, our physics team worked very hard on tire flex modeling and it's one of the big new sim features for FM3.

Thanks for noticing! It's very subtle but it makes a big difference.

omfg i wasn't te only one that noticed, that's MIGHTY IMPRESSIVE!

It does look cool.

Che, America wants a Scion xB (CLASSIC MODEL) in their racing games.

How do answer these critics?

Have a fun! Enjoy!

It does. Kudos for that. Realism is in little details like this one.

We wanted to show how accessible the game is because sims are scary. GAF doesn't think so but the world does.

The truth is FM3 is even MORE of a sim than FM2. One of the big physics improvements we've added is real-time tire deformation and wall flex which directly affect grip threshold. We'll be doing deep dives into all of FM3's new sim features in the coming weeks and months.

It's only the first day! ;)

There's a nuance. We talk about the level of simulation only because it's the part of the game that interest us. I DO think that games should be accessible. OPTIONS is always the way to go. If you made options for casual players, that's fine. All I want is to not sacrifice the sim size for casual racing fans because they simply have TONS of racers and we don't have any serious ones on consoles beside you, GT5 and system3's.

Anyhow, great news. I'm glad the game isn't cheapening on the sim side!!

.

I asked Che a few months ago to tell the team to bring back what I like to call the "sense of ownership garage ala Forza 1" and not just a list of cars or cars floating in blue space. :lol

Do any of the videos show the car collection screen?

There isn't a single racing game out there with real-time DOF (exterior view) and tons of AA.

If you want framebuffer, you should watch the in-game footage video on FM.net. That is literally captured straight from replay cameras.
Isnt that like the photo mode, where it looks more like CG quality?

It's not actually trolling if you don't admit it

We have very much addressed this. I think you'll like what you see when we talk in more detail about it in the coming days.

OMG those shots are stunning. Very impressed with the progress graphically from Forza 2. We all knew this was going to be a winner though so not that surprising =)

Go Che and Turn10! I will preorder the special edition!

Che any word on weather features?
The tire tire flex modeling looks great!

Looking forward to see it explained more in depth.

Here is the short gameplay from the press conference (off-screen):

:O

:O

seriously...:O

(this...just...destroys...that other game...)

honestly though, that didn't look 100% genuine gameplay, with the demo fading to the logo screen when the car flips over.
Is the game playable on the showfloor though ? October's not that far away..

Complete with the epic rollover at the end. Once again you've outdone yourselves, T10.

"...Nice." :lol

If I may have only one (small) complaint: why does the driver not actually shift gears?

as the mighty F355 challenge announcer would say "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION" or paddle shift :lol

Yes playable, and we have something very cool for folks to experience on the show floor. :D

something is just wrong with the lighting. Sometimes the other game 'fools' me, but this just looks totally fake.

Looks great, Che. Can't wait to play it. Hope you will race me online again. No changing the transmission settings without telling everybody this time :D

From already released games, the following is how I would rate aspects of those games:

Forza:
Graphics - 8
Physics - 9
Damage - 8
A.I. - 9
Sound - 8
Customization - 10
Tracks - 7
Cars - 8
Online Experience - 10

GT:
Graphics - 10
Physics - 6
Damage - Lol
A.I. - 6
Sound - 9
Customization - Lol
Tracks - 9
Cars - 9
Online Experience - 6

I think they're pretty damned even, OVERALL, with GT looking/sounding better (very sexy, polished) and with Forza playing better (more challenging/accurate, options).

That being said, it's laughable that the last full GT game was out on the PS2.
That's pretty pathetic on both Polyphony's and Sony's end.

It's also very impressive how far Forza has come in such short time.

If those pics aren't bullshots and Forza does indeed take that next step in the graphics department, I don't see how it can't be considered the better overall game. Unless of course GT itself also takes a few steps forward in the areas where it's lacking.

I have both systems and will proabably pick up Forza outright, since it's been solid for the passed two releases. I'll rent GT5 first, since Prologue was very underwhelming in many aspects (visuals/audio not included). If it's not head and shoulders better than Forza, I don't see myself purchasing it. Can't justify buying two great racers.

Yeah, he might have been been playing with an auto tranny in which case it's a moot point.

Going from the screenshots, though, they've modeled the R8 with the 6-speed manual, not the paddle-shift sequential.

Either way, I really couldn't care less considering the breadth of features and content we're getting as it is.

Che: looks great!

BUUTTTTT

what are the bullshots... ?

Yeah I know it is in game, but the photo editor isn't really ingame... it is not the picture you get to see when you are driving...

I typically dislike all racing games, the only ones I own are GT2 and the original Forza. That being said, I always preferred Forza to GT when I did feel like playing a racing game, it felt a lot more accessible to me (someone who knows nothing about actually racing cars.) I'll be keeping my eye on this, it does look absolutely stunning and hearing that you are going to great strides to make it even more newb friendly is a huge perk for me.

Great job thus far, I'll probably be picking this up when the price drops a bit.

It's probably like GT, adding anti-alias and such other post processing effect, focus, etc

I'm on GAF and I think sims are scary. If I can tweak this thing into something like GRiD I'll definitely play it. It is amazing how much better that looks compared to Forza 2.

There will be plenty of gameplay footage this week.

If you're still questioning if these screenshots look like the actual game, then, I dunno what to tell ya. :)

Seems unrealistic for the car to roll like that. I would've expected the front end to be smashed instead.
The car he cut's in front may have wedged in under him, hard to tell but it's there to show off that car's can roll over now. This is a huge achievement since most car manufactures are quite strict in what you can do with their vehicles.

Yeah, how exactly did Turn 10 manage to clear it with manufacturers to have cars flipping over the track in your game.... I'm sure I remember Che talking about how in the studio they were able to flip the cars, but due to licensing that aspect could never make it into retail games.

Perhaps MS was behind the financial bailout of the motor industry, in return for that one feature :D

I can't describe my problem with it well - the surfaces seem too reflective, there's no light absorbtion at all, I think it's something like sub surface scattering? Even if it's faked, it looks better in the 'other' game.

Well. either's there's other aspects you didn't mention in your lists or you're just trying to be nice. Or, well, there's something wrong with your math :)

Also, yeah, the tunes playing while you browse menus in GT are rather nice and stylish compared to FM2 (also pleasant. tbh) songs playlists. Because that's what you were talking about when you said GT5:p sounded better than FM2, right ? you couldn't possibly be talking about sound effects !

:lol I thought everyone else was watching that trailer on FM.net already. Why else would I keep replaying the trailers over and over?

Did I mention how awesome the trailer is? It's so good :D

Edit: not talking about the Gamersyde vid (thanks for that one Blim).
