Forza Motorsport 3 - October 2009 release (ignore the OP at your peril)

Kinda in a pickle.
I wanna get one of those new elites, cause I have this feeling my 2006 premium won't last much longer.
Now, I can get the 250gb elite with 2 controllers and the normal forza 3 game for about 330 euros. Good deal, sure. On the other hand, I can get the 120 elite pack, one controller for about 250 euros, and buy the LCE version for 70 euros.
Normally I would buy the first option in a heartbeat, but being a F3 VIP supposedly has its virtues. Anyone know if being a non-VIP totally locks you out on anything besides the 10 unique cars you get being a VIP? Is there more, VIP-locked content in the works? Is it relevant, or simple paintjobs?

I ordered it today as well! With the pedalstopper because i hate having it slip underneath me. Hopefully late october means just before the FM3 release so by the time it arrives the game wont be out for too long.

The MS wheel is great for the FM3 demo. Pretty much the best game I've used it on. For the price I'd recommend it a lot if you plan to play FM3 a lot. It makes the whole experience a lot better. I wouldn't, however, recommend using it just on your lap. Even though it supposedly works on your lap, in reality you'll need some kind of stand to have a satisfactory experience with it.
I made a version of the one posted HERE (the ghetto looking one 8 posts down) that works really well on the couch. Mine looks a lot prettier and the design is slightly different, but I don't have a camera to take pictures. There are heaps of other options for a wheel stand/couch solution, both home made and bought.

Man...is it a sin to race with all assists turned on?? Its soo much more enjoyable with having them all turned on.
I love this demo and bought the MS wheel..and its amazing..but when I turn off all assists..it really hard me to control the cars..most of the time i loose control of the cars during the turns..
Any suggestions how i can race better with assists turned off?? Should I keep the ABS turned ON? Is Manual better than Automatic? Any advice will be helpful..im totally addicted to this game and cant wait for Oct 28!

Just start slow. ABS i'd leave for last, manual is pretty easy with the steer. Just listen and dont let it go in to the red zone. Use the racing line to know how hard you brake, and use the feel in the steering wheel whether you're pushing it too hard. Maybe keep the TCS on first so you can get used to driving it.
Of course it's no sin to race with the assists... that's the entire reason they exist. Whatever you need in order to fully enjoy the game is fair to use.kdash7 said:
I primarily drive without assists but in Forza 2 I would turn on the assists in particularly difficut to control cars as I wasn't enjoying spinning out every other corner.
Try using the hood or bumper cam, I find the sense of speed greater in these cams and hitting breaking points a bit easier (I generally still use the cockpit view however).kdash7 said:

Then shut them off in order from bottom to the top. That is, when you're comfortable, shut off TCS...race for a while like that, then when you're fine there, shut off ABS...when you get used to the lighter use of brakes and are good with that, then shut off your racing line. No, there's absolutely no sin to racing with assists. If you enjoy it, it's the perfect way to play.
Basically, race the demo hot laps with the braking line only and no other assists (besides auto trans if you want it). Start off by braking slightly before the red, and don't press the gas all the way in until the wheel is straight. As you race more and more laps, brake later and accelerate earlier. Yeah, I've been in hundreds of races with people using assists, and there's no shame. I kind of like rooms where some of them are forced off (like racing line and TCS), 'cause it really puts the emphasis on control.AMUSIX said:

Not at all. In fact, I recommend it. Race that way until you are REALLY comfortable with the game. Then, one by one, and one at a time, turn off one assist. Then race a bunch more that way. Then turn off another. If you turn one off and just can't get it, turn it back on. There's nothing wrong with making a game fun for you.kdash7 said:

On the pedal section of the MS wheel, there's a well under the brake pedal where the arm goes when you push on the brake pedal. Cut a chunk of foam or neoprene and fit it in there under the brake pedal. It gives you some resistance and is helpful feedback as to how hard to press the brakes. You can adjust the size and material of the chunk until you get a good feel. Basically you want it to get quite firm before the breaks lock up.
It's the easiest and most effective mod you can make to the MS wheel.

Hey guys, remember that leak from a while back that claimed a whole bunch of things including how the GT-R will not be in the game because of licensing? Did a lot of that list come to fruition or what? Just came to mind while seeing how other Skyline's are in there but the GT-R hasn't been announced yet.

It's the GT2 version of the C6, based on the ZR1. I posted a youtube video of it before. I use this picture for my bigger screen as a wallpaper, it's gorgeous race car in my opinion. The backend with the flared wheelarches, it's almost sexy

So that GT2 version of the C6 (C6.R?) -- I know they made some huge changes to the car from its GT1 counterpart. What were some key differences?

Atleast it has some competition again, GT1 is meaningless now. Next year they're ditching the engine too though, now it's the 6.0L version of the one they had in GT1 next year its a 5L of a new kind. I don't mind the crowdness though, makes an interesting grid. Better then 15 997's and 10 430's.

I'm apprehensive if it's something GS is going to give me as I've had a bad experience of some places either not knowing anything about a d/l code or bonus that comes with a game or just plain saying they ran out. I know the tuned R8 with the blue lightning livery is a d/l code that comes outside the package.

You'll find 10 sweet cars on 2 separate pack-in cards within the LCE.
BTW, we just got the LCE retail versions in the office yesterday. I need one!
