Come on Slayer, the demo is just a taste, you know you want to try it.
It's ok, just try it once. You don't have to feel guilty.

Stop tempting me :(! I might not be able to resist...

I hope the demo lets you compete for best lap on XBL leaderboards.

Yeah they've been OOS for a while now. The worst part is F4 was upgraded to release date delivery but the LCE hasn't been T_T

This is just annoying me. I've been checking each day to see if I need to do this. The worst part is that it's scheduled for the 14th and I have 2 day shipping ... your math is wrong Amazon!

still think the game should include some sort of advanced training to teach you some of the more complex manoeuvres.

i've been saying this for quite some time, but i imagine some sort of 'scenario' mode, where you have to recover from various difficult situations.
Rewind inspired me; sometimes you want to 'undo' a crash, but don't want to rewind further (because that last corner was so perfect you think you won't be able to replicate it or for whatever reason) so you only have a few meters to recover from an extreme situation.
it's fun, but if the game suggested what to do (feather on clutch, apply slight pressure on throttle, in intervals, countersteer etc).
same for upgrades.

Yeah, I still remember my Falcon game on PC with thick ass manual (3.0 version came in a 3-ring binder) and the 2.0 special edition even come with additional video and book on how to dogfight in a jet. I miss those good old days where game come with real instruction. Speaking of manual, I love the Apex one that included with Limited version of GT5. I hope Turn 10 step up to the plate with their LE book but somehow I doubt we will get anything substantial.

I have a feeling the demo will be the one they used to demo game at PAX. Also if past demo is something to go by, I doubt it will have much contents.
Thats fine. A new track and a sample of the new physics makes it exciting for me. I put 100's of laps into the FM3 demo.

While it'd probably be in their best interest to put more features into the demo to really show people new to the Forza series just how great the customization and everything is, I like that its bare bones because all the good stuff will hit me all at once when the game actually comes out.

Variable time of day in Camino. Yes!

Rally di Positano shots are awesome.

The Camino extreme layout thumbnail looks different than the other parts, it looks like it crosses over. The FM3 version wasn't like that.

I think it is the same. Just a tiny image.

Hey guys, I just pre-ordered Forza 4 yesterday!

I'm a main PS3 user, but I can't say no to Forza 4 because everything I saw I just loved. I'm very happy for getting this, hope I can add some GAFfers on XBL but my 360 Library is very poor... But if that is okay with you be sure to send me up a friend request.

Oh, and can't wait for the demo too. :)

Love those new mountains on Camino!

What makes you think it has variable times of day, Shinnn? Could be the same time in both shots but looking east in one and west in the other..?

Edit: two more sunny tracks as well. IBL can't do overcast skies: confirmed.

"If we're gonna spend big bucks reverse-engineering the sun then we're gonna make damn sure we get our money's worth".

Camino looks great, did I say that already?
Some ultralow-poly arches and the bricklayer was on mushrooms on Amalfi though.

Damn @ those shots.

Wowzor.

For some reason you can see A LOT more of the track and on top of it all it's so much more detailed?

Voodoo shit right there.

Tried to match the shots again. The turn on FM3 looks a bit different but it could just be me not being able to match FOV

edit: this last shot is taken too far up... close enough though :|

Couldn't get as high for the second shot. I'm liking the new backdrop though; wonder if the dam is still there.

No more p2p in rali de positano :(

WHAT?!? They completely got rid of the mountain on the right side? I really liked that feeling that I was racing against a mountainside. It looks more like your are driving on a ridge line. Ugh...

Can't show off IBL if there is a mountain blocking the sun!

oh my

i absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the new colors in amalfi, this is exactly what i was hoping the track would look like.
I hated those greens and yellows and emerald blue of the sea, they ruined the overall look of the track in fm3 and made it look like it came straight out of a Sega arcade racer; it looks amazing now.

Camino looks great too, but i think it confirms one of my worries; i think they had to scale back trackside detail on some of the more complex fm3 environments, which is why montserrat (a perfectly fine looking track) had to go under such massive changes.

Which is probably why we can't have full Positano; that would have required a lot of work; some parts of the track are crammed with buildings and trackside elements that wouldnt go along well with 16 cars, ibl and whatnot.

Not complaining, i really love the look of both now.

Now if we could just see what cars look like sitting there...

I'll enjoy the IBL elsewhere on the track. I want my damn mountain back!

Camino Viejo DLC mountain pack : 600 microsoft points.

Changes are quite significant, which I like. If they had to make stands empty for that, so be it.

stands are empty for time attack and hot lap, but they're crowded during races, this was the case with fm3 too.

They could have just moved the reverse-engineered sun around so the track wasn't in shadow from the mountain. Or they could have lifted another mountain from Alps and put it there instead (like they did for the background) ang get the glow from the snow.

Snow capped grey mountains lifted from the alps and dropped in Spain, near Barcelona, totally ignoring the natural pink conglomorate that the region is famous for? So what? It's a fantasy track.

Can't wait to see Maple Valley's volcano and Amalfi's salt flats.

Bugatti had too much detail? :)

As for Amalfi's water, Ive been there, and the turquoise was correct.

I honestly prefer the FM3 Amalfi and Camino. They both took a huge step away from recreating the acual environments. Camino especially, with the hillside of conifers and the new mountain that looks like it belongs in the alps. Of course I guess these issues would only come up for those who are familiar with the areas. Still, bad show, Turn 10.

I found it incredulous when BADNED said the following shot (from April's leak) was from an early reworked Camino, as the conifers and snow-capped mountain didn't look like anything from the Montserrat region. Guess he wasn't joking after all..! Sorry for doubting you, B.

Don't get me wrong, the new Camino is a graphical splendour. It just seems like turn 10 took some liberties with the topography and flora, which is odd considering the lengths they normally go to (big team field trip to the Alps, GPS mapping of Hockenheim for example) in the name of authenticity.

I dunno, maybe they were so proud of their Alps mountains they wanted to give them a little more exposure?

Same here. Love the vast open landscape, removing the mountain really establishes an amazing sense of scale. The snowy mountain does seem out of place though, considering the track is based on Montserrat

Why the hell would they add those mountains there.... shit it was so perfect it was really montserrat....

can't understant why they would mess with that...

Don't know why but it really annoys me they have to break a beautiful scenery to put mountains that don't belong in the region...

agh :(

I'm guessing they went back to rework the track and didn't montserrat backdrops in the quality they wanted so they used some from alps and then copy pasted in trees that they already had done. You can see in the FM3 shot that the backdrop wasn't super high res so maybe that's why but who knows?

As for the mountain on the track, I wonder how much of it they butchered and how this angle will look like in FM4

Dude, i'm from italy, i'be been to Amalfi and Positano many times :)

Positano.JPG

postcards are one thing, reality is different. Those colors in old amalfi don't belong in any real environment; that green and the yellowish tint on rocks make no sense and the water isn't turquoise there; the water gets very deep in a matter of meters, the bottom isn't sandy so you won't see Seychelles' emerald water anywhere; this is exactly what everything should look like in a half-cloudy day. My guess is T10 took the wrong postcard as reference for fm3.
This doesn't just look closer to the real amalfi, it looks a lot closer to reality, with mountains in the distance fading to blue and less saturated look. Awesome job.

Now, Montserrat is different. I haven't been there; i remember thinking the mountains in fm3 to be rather strange looking, until someone posted a pic of the same location in real life showing mountains looked exactly like that, there.
While I like Camino's new look and i think it does look more 'realistic', i have no idea if it's closer or farther from the real thing.

I have doubts on Fujimi Kaido, and i think Tsukuba looked better in fm3, but everything else (and Amalfi especially) gets a huge thumbs up from me.

As for the mountain on the track, I wonder how much of it they butchered and how this angle will look like in FM4

well, in the other pic you can see mountains behind the stands where there is none in fm3, and it doesn't look like they're a bitmap, so i am not sure it really was a performance issue, but i am curious to see this angle as well.
Track had amazing detail and quite a stunning amount of geometry in fm3. A lot of very high res textures too, even too high res considering it's mostly stuff you'll only see when zooming in in photomode.

I really hope Bugatti it is left out just to be included in some DLC pack.

That track is amazing one, I fell in love with it in the first LeMans 24Hours game (Eutechnyx one, PSone era) and was waiting for more than decade to have it again in some game.

And now they left it out, probably based on poor community love (everybody was voting against that track in FM3) in order to save some on-disc space.

Very technical track where one small mistake can cost you everything. Not many tracks requires so much concentration during the whole race because slow corners and heavy sandtraps requires extreme caution and great technique.

The lighting is certainly better on Amalfi now. But apart from that it's identical. Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm more looking forward to the new circuits.
Oh, and to be clear, there is no actual track in Montserrat is there? I know the Fujimi Kaido is a fantasy track. Camino is too, yes?

completely different palette (see grass and tarmac), plus shadows in the first pic don't match second pic's sun position.

Yup, i'd say it's pretty much confirmed.

Now, if only we could have a tiny trailer...

Looks great.

Both tracks look much better than the FM3 versions.

Also I didn't realise Suzuka and Tsukuba were unveiled as well.

They both look better as well.
