Ha! That is awesome! I wonder if you have to unlock AV mode for particular cars or if they're all available from the get go?

unlocked with the preorder of Halo 4 *trollface*

Yep, the model is fantastic but it really looks like it came out of a game, I had hope that they would go for a more realistic rendition of the Warthog.

Edit : Now I just want a realistically looking Halo homespace to take pictures of real cars. Could be awesome. :lol

Yeah, tyres don't look quite right and there seems to be no texture to any parts of the body at all... just flat.

Still, I love that we're complaining how a 100% fictional car looks :lol

With the Halo 1 music in the background!

It seems as if they went for the 'gamey' look as opposed to a realistic looking rendition.
If not, then yeah, I agree, it looks off.

I've said it in a previous thread, maybe it's just me but I would love more iconic TV/movie vehicles in full Autovista glory : famous Bond cars with gadgets (DB5, Esprit), BTTF 1/2/3 DeLorean (with hover mode), KITT (with KITT's voice commenting himself), original Batmobile, Tim Burton Batmobile, TAS original Batmobile, Ecto1, Mad Max's Falcon, Speed Racer car, Bluesmobile, Herbie, etc...

Brilliant..

I'd love to take it around the track, do some liveries, even if it was only a 1 car on track special, and I'd even forgive any articulation animation on the suspension/gun etc if you can have Master Chief sat in it..

:D

I agree, I can imagine KITT, "Hello Michael" as you sit in it.. priceless..

Marry me.

Now get KITT in AV with the KITT doing the voice-over itself. But seriously to have some sort of "fantasy" AV DLC pack featuring some cars from movies/games if they could get the license to use them.

Edit: Didn't see G Rom's post. Woops!

only if it had halo driving physics :lol
Well of course, that's why I'd want it. For it just to be a crazy vehicle, to have a bit of fun in the sim sandbox.

Just rememeber Che is now at 343i, he must have been involved in making this happen.

The car looks like it has old FM3 shaders on it. I hope they'll update it.

the problem with the car is it has no reflective parts, no textures and a specular highlight.
Making it look like plastic was probably their intention anyway and frankly it's just a nice addition, i wouldn't complain about it.

Would look great with lighting occlusion. Maybe they can prebake occlusion on textures at least, since you're only seeing the model in av anyway.

It's not the shaders, but the texturing, which is almost non-existent.
It's probably a bit of both. I think one of the problems is all of the materials look exactly the same so it's partly a shader issue. Other stuff looks way too smooth and could use some bump mapping or texture work or something.

Lol, what better way for us to forget about the whole Porsche thing then to bombard us with some new info. 240sx, customization tidbits, Warthog, possible track reveal very soon..etc

heh keep the info coming! :D

I think it's modeled to look like a plastic toy; the wench on the front clearly looks like it's made with the type of rope you see on toys. All the metal pieces look plastic as well.

I just want to chim in a bit on that. People always blame Halo 3 for the poor sale of PGR4 and if I recall reading one article, Microsoft did try to get PGR4 out early so it would not crash with Halo 3 junggernaut.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/91545-PGR4-Studio-Became-Disillusioned-With-Microsoft

According to that article, BC refuse and told Microsoft that they will stick to the contract which of course put the game right up next to Halo 3. I do understand BC, that they need the time to polish the game and 6 weeks is a lot for dev to shave off.

As for marketing, well if you have a game for a declining genre, versus Halo, as Microsoft where would you put your marketing dollar? I am not saying they are right and they do the same thing to T10 as far as skimp on thing like export picture and video.

I remember there was several contest and promo for PGR4 especially in Europe and PGR4 community site was awesome (and even have great picture export). They also bundle PGR4 with LIVE gold package.

Anyway, it's too bad and we all know it would end badly when it was announce that they were going to Activision.
But you must also understand that PGR4 was probably demanded to be released within that period anyways, and would still have hurt sales either way. 6 weeks is a lot of time prior though, this is definitely an eye opener.

Also wat wat wat @ Halo FOUR Warthog. Is this a sign of the graphics to come in Halo 4? Is Forza merely the incubation chamber that Halo 4 will emerge from?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd love to see some racing cars in this motorsports racing game.

To race.

Bring on some ALMS, JGTC, and older FIA GT reveals Turn 10.

Some ALMS cars were shown and we know there's 26 of them, SuperGT will supposedly be revealed at TGS.
Le Mans has yet to be announced or shown too.

Whaaat, you can't drive it? That's totally pointless. They should at least you drive it in any non-season or career SP mode.

I would expect Halo physics to clash with their own physics engine. The universe might implode, man.

Yeah, you're right. Proper texturing, though, would make a world of difference, because the model is leagues ahead of anything we've seen in any Halo game.

Edit: Sorry about the double post. :S

The materials looks weird. Plastic-y if you know what I mean. Could use some dirt or something to make it look on par with other cars.

Welcome to Forza and its (sometimes) plastic looking problem.

It sucks that you can't drive it, too :(

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
the detail is outstanding and narration by cortana is rad. so awesome.

also, glad its limited to AV personally, and yeah, the shaders look off.

I get what people are talking about, but it's still very odd to hear people scrutinize a fake car. I suspect they just got the geometry from 343i and did a bit of work. Driving the warthog with Forza 4 physics would probably just not feel remotely like we're used to in Halo games and MS doesn't want people to drive it and say, "You know what? Warthogs are sorta like a shit jeep.".

So, othergame5 gets a hyper race car and FM4 gets an undrivable vehicle from a scifi game? smh

Hopefully theres still open-wheel race F1 cars in this game (or at least the Lotus T125 ;_; )

There's almost zero texture work on the warthog. Haven't played Halo in a while, but I do remember the warthog having some fairly detailed texture mapping.

Also anyone notice the face on the bonnet?

Reach_MPBeta_Warthog2.jpg

The model from Forza 4 looks much better, though the lack of textures and shaders let it down.

IMO, it's not necessarly texture work that's needed, it's better material shaders (metal looks like plastic in those images). Halo Warthogs have been in combat, hence the scratches and worn out textures while this Autovista Warthog is supposed to be in pristine condition, as if it came straight out of the factory (like any AV car).

I think people are taking this thing too seriously. It's just for shits and giggles.
FM is still a racing game and having a fucking attack jeep in the game to race with just wouldn't make sense!

In other news, Spa has just been announced!!

maybe they are showing us matte paint is now an option. i see that and it looks olive drab matte, which should not reflect and should not be shiny.
