I think people are taking this thing too seriously. It's just for shits and giggles.
FM is still a racing game and having a fucking attack jeep in the game to race with just wouldn't make sense!

In other news, Spa has just been announced!!

Remember the "tank" in Toca Touring Cars?

What's with the jerry cans on an electrically powered vehicle? Also, Forza doesn't do all-wheel steering yet, does it?

...
plastic cans for water? at least it looks plastic although everything in those screens looks plastic :lol

I would reconsider my pre-order if this was actually drivable. I might be in the minority but that is not the direction I want the Forza franchise to go in.
Nah I agree with you although I probably wouldn't have canceled my preorder but I'm glad they didn't spend too much time on the warthog. I mean, if they modeled visible suspension on this thing before we got open wheelers I would be pretty annoyed!

I mean I get that they're doing their guerilla cross promotion thing and it's a bit of fun but in my eyes that time would be better spent modelling SPA or creating a night or weather mode.

Come on lol... I don't want Forza to go in "that direction" either but it's obvious that they did that as funny cameo/marketing tie-in. It's not like they adapted the 400 other cars to match the Warthog physics.

It's nice to have fun and light hearthed things in a otherwise somewhat dry sim game (not that it's a bad thing...the game is still awesome).

You do realized that the people who model cars or code weather effect are not the same people who model the tracks, right?

Yes but you do realise that there is a total project budget from which all people are paid, right? So the inclusion of something like Auto Vista can mean the exclusion of a mode like night driving.

Autovista -> high poly models, IBL

I'd take that over janky night driving any day!

Yeah each to their own, I'm in no way implying that my opinion must be shared by all just expressing it. To me the inclusion of more real-world circuits ranks much higher on the list than night-driving but that has been mentioned as something desirable by a lot of people in this thread. I'd prefer wet conditions over night personally.

also realize that this is probably a model T10 grabbed from 343 (maybe the one used for normal mapping, or CG renders or a benchmark for next gen halo or whatever) and didn't actually had to model themselves

It's nice, it's free, it's an easter egg.
Nice and unexpected autovista footage there.

Now..about the 'expected' new track footage...

When you said "guerilla cross promotion thing", I thought you were talking about including the WH in AV, not AV itself.

Seriously, "the direction Forza to go in?" you do realize outside of a few tweaks, adding audio and placing it in a off-white box, they probably had to do little to nothing right? Or do you really expect that Turn10 modeled and textured the Halo 4 Warthog for 343 because they couldn't themselves to port it over?

Relax, it's an Easter egg. No critical resources were likely diverted, you are being completely hyperbolic over such a small addition.

Sure. But I won't buy a game because of night driving. I would buy a game if I get explore a ton of cars I'll never see up close and in detail.

I mean, I'll buy Forza 4 either way, but "night driving" is a bullet point that very few people care about outside of forums and extreme enthusiasts ... which do not make up the bulk of their sales.

As for the "direction" comment I see quoted ... to each his own but the inclusion of easter eggs is not a "direction" ... it's a fan based treat. Forza 4 will still be an amazing racing game.

It's all about car passion..etc

We can now add one more.....LORE..
Keep 'em coming Danny boy!

Edit: I didn't realize you had to actually unlock the Autovista cars through challenges...

Question about Forza 4...

I haven't followed its development too much compared to Forza 3 but for those that know, how much of the game is playable offline compared to 3?

Forza 3, while a very good game in terms of graphics and driving, I felt was a very 'gimped experience' since I didn't have an XBox Live Gold account, and seemed to be very dependent on it. I didn't care much about racing online, but it looked like access to a bunch of other features in Forza 3 were locked away if you didn't have a Gold Account (and often made you know you it as well). For comparison I didn't really have to deal with that with other racing games such as GT5, F1 2010, Dirt 2, etc, which I felt were pretty 'fully-featured' stand-alone games themselves even without using online elements (or very few).

If Forza 4 is pretty much the same thing I might not get it this time around at launch unfortunately, despite how great it's coming along...maybe I'll just end up getting it later down the road when on sale after being out for a while. But I'm not getting a Gold Account just to play this game =(

They've got new game modes (Autocross, TG Soccer, TG Cones, overtake challenges etc), Autovista, Car manufacturer Affinity rewards, obviously trying to find out how to unlock the Warthog in Autovista, as well as the other cars. some upgrade rewards as well..

It sounds like off-line, there is a ton more stuff to do then FM3, but it is a more 'sim' then 'arcade' , so you have to expect some dryness of racing cars on tracks at some point..

I'm surprised people here haven't Photoshopped the Warthog to look better.

It's the kind of thing you guys would do! :p

TG soccer is actually multiplayer IIRC (I don't think they would waste time programming their AI to play football) but other than that yeah, I think the single-player experience will be a lot better than in FM3. Although, if I were you I wouldn't want to miss the storefront, the rivals mode or the public lobbies.

BTW, I know I'm beating a dead horse but fuck you EA :

The irony is the RSR was among the new Porsches for FM4 incl. AV.

Fuuuuu...

Well, at the very least I hope they did all the work to be able to put Porsche back into the game, on the slim chance that an agreement can be reached in the future.

I think that's what put a damper on my Forza 3 experience: not being able to access the storefront and public lobbies because I didn't have a Gold Account. I kinda wish the only thing that was inaccessible with Forza 3 with a Silver Account was just online multiplayer racing and that's it....but the game locked out so much more than just that.

For example, if PSN locked out GT5's non-multiplayer online features such as online car dealerships and extra events (which gave peeps so much extra spending cash when it started) and made it a PlayStation Plus-only feature that would've sucked for me too =/

well you could buy a 3 month card. i mean, it is what, $7.50 a month? .25 cents a day? this shit isn't expensive, if you can afford the game i don't see how you can't afford a LIVE card for a few months.

It's not about 'affording' for me but actually 'using'...there was a time I had a Gold account for 3-4 years but hardly played any online multiplayer games on XBox Live during that time...it just went to waste (I played a couple of games on Halo 2 on the original XBox with my buddies back then and that was about it...carried it over when I got a 360 and still didn't do much with it in terms of online play =P). So yeah, that's how it is with me concerning XBox Live Gold nowadays, an extra expense I can personally do without since I hardly use it...

...it is what it is, I guess. *shrugs* =/

Just grab one of the offers that shows up every now and then. I'm Gold until june 2013 (my CC will have expired long before that) thanks to the 1€=1month thing.

I don't mind, if that will indeed be the case. I don't want all autovista cars to be unlocked from the beginning; I want to collect them. Earn them! I want that bliss of geeking out over every detail of every autovista car to be spread out through the game.

I take it no track reveal this week?

Where did the idea that we'd be finding out what that coming soon track was come from anyway?

When did you call it ?
We've known since April 1st that a Warthog ending up in Forza 4 was a strong possibility.
