Someone messed up and released the AD before the showcase

It would be a surprise if it wasn't.

The eXputer leak suggested October 10th.

finally a good car game to play!

and on Steam. I don't need to use the shitty MS Store. I'm having flashbacks to downloading Forza 7 on it.

We went from "Spring 2023" mid last year to "first half 2023" late last year, to "coming 2023" at the developer showcase at the beginning of the year.

If they continue to give a generic "coming 2023" tomorrow and don't provide a solid release date, I won't be expecting it this year.

I don't believe this is a leak. They are showing the same commercial on Eurosport during the 24 hours of Le Mans currently.

But what about the date? That means it could launch even next month than from the supposed "leak" date already known...

Is this 8? Or are they restarting the series all over again?
It is a reboot - https://www.windowscentral.com/forza-motorsport-8#:~:text=Now, Turn 10 Studios is,current-gen consoles and PC.

It's 8. This is the next one.

"Rebooting" a driving franchise is kind of a silly concept (although Need For Speed had done it like three times...)
Please stop spreading misinformation by presenting your opinion as a fact when it is not. It's doesn't matter what you think of the concept or not, when there factual information and developer's intent is publicly known.

Officially, it is not called Forza Motorsport 8. It's a full on reboot.

I get what you're saying. Turn 10 haven't put a number on it and have called it a reboot for next gen. That is factually correct. But I also agree with what CamHostage CamHostage is saying. How the fuck do you reboot a game that has no story? It makes no difference if it's 1, 8, 10 or 50. It's a racing sim. I love Forza btw, but you can't call it a reboot when you have stripped out much of the content to sell as MTs, as I expect will be the case (though admittedly I haven't read enough to substantiate that fear).

I'm a green rat btw. I just don't get this concept of rebooting a racer.

I mean..you could technically say same thing about DOOM 1, 2, 3 and DOOM 2016.

DOOM 16 is technically DOOM 4. DOOM Eternal is a sequel to DOOM 2016 so its technically DOOM 5.

But it really isn't cause DOOM 2016 is a new era of DOOM, an entire reboot. Need For Speed games are probably up in the 20s now.

The only franchise that can get away with infinite numbers is Final Fantasy, but that franchise treats every game as its own new universe. They're not even direct sequels. It's the only exception to the rule.

Forza Motorspprt 8 just sounds dumb and as far as story goes, I don't know if it has one. Forza Horizon does, but then again it's a racing game like you said so it's kind of irrelevant. Either way Forza Motorsport 2023 is a new era of the Forza Motorsport line.

Regardless of what we believe is ok or isn't ok or weird the fact of the matter is the developers called it a reboot. An individual asked a question if it's FM 8 or a reboot. He was given an incorrect answer because of someone's opinion. When in reality, the developer and publisher are marketing this as a full on reboot.

I just don't like when misinformation goes around. People are free to believe whatever concepts they want, but if you are going to answer a question don't push your opinion/believe as a fact when it is not and misinform people. It comes off disengenous.

It's just a pet peeve of mine lol.

I mean, Sony "rebooted" Gran Turismo with GT Sport, then I guess people would say "retconned" it with GT7... and yet, I was fine with people calling GT Sport "GT7" on forums back when they were comfortable with that before there was an "official" game with a 7 in the title. Sport had some unique structure to it, but it was the seventh Gran Turismo. (Actually, some would say that GT7 should really have been called "GT Sport 2" from what it did and did not carry of the series.)

When the new Forza gets here, whatever people are comfortable calling works in conversation. Obviously most will go by the official "Forza Motorsport" and then call the old game "Forza 2005" or "Forza 1". (...Or, we'll just never referring to the old games ever again, which is fairly likely with car games, though if they also "reboot" Forza Horizon, that might be more confusing since we do at least talk about that original map and era plus and you can still get FH1 on the Xbox store nope, FH1,2,3 are on the store but delisted from purchase, another casualty of car rights I assume,) . MS has had "reboot" naming conventions multiple times instead of keeping it simple (how many times has MS launched a new package called "Flight Sim"?), and it's bit them in the ass a few times when they tried to come up with the next-new name (ala Xbox/360/One/Series... if fans had just revolted and insisted on calling this new one "Xbox Four" I wouldn't blame them! What the heck do you even call this Xbox gen, "officially"?)

I just don't think it matters that much. If people call it "Forza 8" sometimes, it's not like we won't know what they're talking about. Not worth getting on people's asses about what's "official" in a sim, whatever. It's the eighth Forza, and the rebuilding work they've been doing is what fans would hope they'd be doing for a sequel no matter what name they put on the box.

Relax. Enjoy the game.

Sorry, why does the "8" on the eighth Forza sound dumb?

Is "Forza Motorsport 8" too many, kind of like how The Fast & The Furious should have stopped at 7?

Holy smokes, you take this "official" stuff seriously, you've written Doom all-caps nine times. I fear putting my shift key through such stress!

BTW, you keep referring to this game you call "DOOM 2016", what is this? There is only DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 64, DOOM³, DOOM, and DOOM Eternal. (And then there's probably supposed to be some ™s and ®s in there too.) No game is "officially" named Doom 2016...

Yeah, I have no clue what is up with MS and their console naming conventions. It's very dumb and is confusing for an average consumer.

A parent buying the system for their kid won't understand the difference between Series S and the X. It kind of reminds me of how Nintendo when they named their previous console a Wii U that sounded like a peripheral for the Wii.

When I first saw the Series X trailer I thought it was some extra addition to Xbox One X and not an entirely brand new machine.

Not sure why MS doesn't want to keep it simple. 360 was cool and unique name. Xbox One was an atrocious name and Series X not much better either. If they do another physical console release just please call it Xbox 4 or even Xbox Next. None of this tacky weird smartphone style naming conventions.

I think any game that starts to go above a numerical number like 6 is kind of silly. RE7 kind of hid it well because of the word "Evil" and so did Village which was RE8.

Halo Infinite is actually Halo 6 because it's a sequel to Halo 5 Guardians from what I understood. Gears 4 started a new Trilogy, so Gears 6 is to be expected. Hopefully after that, they'll give it a different name or start over, because Gears 7 will just start sounding stupid.

As for Forza Motorsport 8, I don't know i just think the number is way too high and it's getting ridiculous.

Gran Turismo has been around for far more longer, I think the GT fans are just used to the naming convention. I never played GT and don't even know the difference between GT Sport versus the latest one so I can't give an opinion on that, as that would be disengenous from my part.

Heh, well, nothing we can do about their kooky names. I'll try to respect your pet peeve for naming conventions a bit, even though I don't really care which way people write it. (And until we do have this new Forza in hand and it makes people forget 1-7 ever existed, there's probably going to be more "Forza 8s" thrown around for a while to come.)

I'll also grant you that the rebuild work Turn 10 is doing might actually create something worthwhile of a sim "reboot" title. That'd be great. MS earned it with the "reboot" title on Flight Sim in 2020, hopefully they'll do it again here.

...Though I still think the idea of "rebooting" a sim is kind of silly.
