Fox News vs a Trump News Network

I'm sure many are aware of the rumors of Trump using his presidential bid as the means of launching his own news network.

What I'm curious is what that would mean for Fox News in terms of its programming and personalities with Roger Ailes ? Would there be a considerable defection from Fox over to this start up network? Or would Trump and Ailes be more content with plumming from Breitbart News and Newsmax?

Would Fox News shift to a more fiscal/libertarian streak or would they go even more crazy to compete with Trump? Or, would they just remain the same, except now in tandem with their own racist, misogynistic, and homophobic dog whistling, they'll be competing with a network where everyone on camera is being openly racist, misogynistic, and homophobic?

It would be as popular as Breitbart is. Which is fairly popular among Facebookers and that's it.

FOX is entrenched in the Old White demographic for a reason. This would fail like all of the other Trump endeavors.

Well, there are a few commentators who are speculating that Trump doesn't want to win and is using this as a business venture. Others say that starting his own tv network would be a salvage operation to rebuild his brand from the ashes using his voter base as his viewers. It would not be unlike what Pat Robertson did in 1988 with his presidential run. He used his defeat in the primaries as the basis for establishing his Christian Coalition in 1990.

This is the first I've heard of these "rumors".

EXCLUSIVE: IS DONALD TRUMP’S ENDGAME THE LAUNCH OF TRUMP NEWS?
The candidate is considering starting his own cable empire.

Trump is indeed considering creating his own media business, built on the audience that has supported him thus far in his bid to become the next president of the United States. According to several people briefed on the discussions, the presumptive Republican nominee is examining the opportunity presented by the “audience” currently supporting him. He has also discussed the possibility of launching a “mini-media conglomerate” outside of his existing TV-production business, Trump Productions LLC. He has, according to one of these people, enlisted the consultation of his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who owns the The New York Observer. Trump’s rationale, according to this person, is that, “win or lose, we are onto something here. We’ve triggered a base of the population that hasn’t had a voice in a long time.” For his part, Kushner was heard at a New York dinner party saying that “the people here don’t understand what I’m seeing. You go to these arenas and people go crazy for him.” (Both Kushner and Ivanka Trump did not respond to a request for comment.)

It was reported that O'Reilly, Greta and Hannity all have an opt out of their contract if Ailes leave. I can see Hannity joining a Trump and Ailes network.

If Trump did this/tried this I imagine he'll want to do what he usually does for his business ventures and rope in A LOT of other people's money.

I'm curious if the presidential campaign might hurt that effort as a lot of high profile people have starting questioning Trump's actual business record and acumen

I can just see the talking heads in black face now...

It would be kind of nice to have like.. a completely over the cliff and hopeless version of the Fox News litmus test.

"So you watch Fox News eh?"
"Yea for sure they seem pretty fair and balanced."
"welp. nice talking to you."

"So you watch TrumpTV eh?"
"Yea. Fuck everyone who isn't white, amirite?"
*loads gun*

You can't build a news network in secret. You have to hire staff, build infrastructure, hash out deals with major cable carriers. If there were any truth to this, it would be more than the idle speculation we've heard so far.

Not to to mention that Trump has no experience in the field of broadcast media and media relations.

Yassss. Get rid of these assholes and Fox is actually a great channel. Queen Megyn will step up. Get Gutfeld in prime time too.

Well Trump News Network will be the exclusive home for the first debate between Clinton and Ryan, so we'll all have to watch it.

Talk about the battle between two colossus piles of fucking shit right there.

I could imagine the type of programming on Trump News. An America's Most Wanted Abortion Providers, or a 5 part expose on the War on Christmas done with the same gusto as OJ Simpson: Made in America.

This isn't even a rumor, it's speculation attempting to bring some kind of rhyme or reason to the ongoing insanity of this election.
