Huh? did I say that the wording was cancelled? No, if you read my other posts you'll see I read it as disappear from the internet, aka, cancelled. Not disappear and left in a ditch aka killed.
 
I agree that the petition has grounds to exist. People feel misled, and if they pre-ordered in digital, then it probably feels to them more like a betray of trust. I also understand that some may have just pre-ordered or bought day-1 just to support the developer company going against a DEI-infested industry, so to those it could be purely a matter of principle rather than spoiling a game they wouldn't play normally anyway.

Which, by the way, never works out -- don't do this, people! Companies want to make profit and are seldom your friends; even with well intended developers and enthusiasts in their personnel, there's so much more crap and ass-backwards factors involved with the global publishing of a game that nothing "radically pure" can survive.

Hopefully,
a) more explanation will be given about the baffling decision (intended artistic vision, realized at the last possible moment is not convincing),
b) options will be given to have the old models and gore level.

I am certainly not saying it should be ignored, that was not my intent, I am merely saying that the way I read it is not that they were putting a bounty on their head, they wanted them cancelled. It can be read either way, kinda like what people on here and Grummz himself keep saying 'but they said it would be released uncensored' (although not nearly as serious of course, but people are still getting that wrong, he means no difference between region versions, no version is censored more than any other so no green blood for Germany, no pixelisation for Japan as I have already said). Like I said, maybe I'm wrong and the original intent truly was to put a hit out on him I just read it more as cancel him not kill him.

I personally couldn't give a crap about wearing some ridiculous outfit, and am likely to wear a more clothed variant whenever I get around to playing it. But it's the broader point of political push back, and freedom of expression. Expression which outside of gaming is everywhere. Can you ever imagine a game filled with the amount of sex in Bridgerton etc? And it not be absolutely shredded and banned out of existence, ironically by many of the very same people that lauded bridgerton 🤣

I'm left of center, but know people far to my left, who would be the exact sort of people to be yelling for this sort of censorship (the typical stereotype of extreme wokeness, whatever that term means anymore), but I know for a fact they happily sat on trains reading 50 shades of grey. It's a bizarre hypocritical double standard.

An extra bit of cloth below a characters still prominent and revealing cleaveage is a strange and seemingly petty line to draw in the sand. But it needed to be drawn somewhere.

Asians live outside this stupid culture wars bubble, these devs were never meant to be your hero or whatever else anti-woke YouTubers wanted. For five years none knew or cared about these outfits. It's ridiculous to claim this was advertised as a coomer game. This is not true. Since you didn't give a damn about the game you only see what you want to see.

This is the annoying thing about all this, going forward we may only get censored games from this dev when working with Sony (no skin showing, no gore) as they may (between Sony/ShiftUp) decide it just isn't worth the backlash each time they make a game. This is Shift Up's first console game (and has signed an official second party developer contract) and they have had controversy after controversy thrown at them from both sides (woke and horny). Luckily its a really good game and is getting great reviews and so far great sales which will at least please Sony.

This is the dumbest thing to be outraged by. At the end of the day it makes no difference to the game, you'll still spend most of it staring at anime arse in a different type of revealing costume. And if it still bothers you that much then vote with your wallet. It's more effective and it has the added bonus of people on the internet not seeing what a twat you're being.

I bought TopSpin 2k25 last week(which has its own actual significant issues), but imagine people going mental because they took some Polo shirt that was supposed to be in the game out at the last minute. They'd be roundly ridiculed and rightly so.

Technicalities, and of course sony catering to the conservatives (that shouldn't buy the game since what's in store is probably already too much).
Technicalities because game is still uncensored (it has fanservice and dismemberment), sexuality is toned down.

Many people around call the protesters a bunch of coomers, but these kind of sudden changes should not be allowed. In this case it's sexuality toned down, but in other cases it's copyrighted songs, censoring visuals because the studio entered the chinese market, and I remember the case of farcry 4 downgrade with the "console parity" shit.

We should get what we paid for, not getting it altered or censored when the publisher wants.

The Physical Disk has the "original" costume.
The reason they "changed" it is because the costume was always supposed to have lace underwear, the gold master didnt have the textures for the lace.
But if people really really really want want the lace-less version they can just NOT update the game.

For me, the matter is pretty simple: you advertise a product, your end product isn't what you advertised, people have the right to get mad at you.

"But it just a costume!", "Go watch some porn!", "It was always meant to be this way!". To me, all that stuff sounds like beating around the bush.

And I don't even care about this specific case since I don't even have a PS5, but I think it's great to see people stand against those kind of practices. Because today it might just be a costume, but tomorrow it could be something else, like a car in a racing game, a character in a fighting game, or whatever else.

People who don't own a PS5 or don't give a shit about the game were calling Stellar Blade a sex-bait game months ago. Now they are the most offended. The irony is not even funny.

By equating cases that are not equal you are doing the same "everything is sexist, everything is racist" of the REEE bunch.
 
Even if this is a possible nothingburger with changes meant to exist but didn't in time for the retail gold pressing, the threatening of the person making the petition or the coomer brain insults just speaks to why the medium trends get worse.

The "it's a small change who cares I'm gonna just consume" mentality is why we got the creeping effect of shit monetization and worse character design.

I understand, but without reposting essentially what I wrote before even if the intent was to cancel him it does not make as much difference as you think. The damage this thinking could be bringing to society is not small and difficult to reverse.

The tables will flip and it is not pretty.

Appeasing woke people brings them exactly zero additional sales, they already would never touch this, at least not admit it inside their bubbles or publicly on their social media dumps. No amount of lace can reverse the damage that having a sexy female protagonist does there. Sexy female is already a major problem there, on top of that, revealing is only allowed for real women when they do it themselves... as though that isn't equally objectifying but that is outweighed by empty girl power screams and self determination delusions.
Angering/annoying/surprising horny people though might actually lose them some sales- I doubt significantly, but some, and a bad taste for some-, because that is part of the audience they specifically targeted, the reputation they kinda got and a still imho only minor part of the appeal this game has. Similar to the good guys thing CD Project/gog had and certainly still have for some ... With the recent controversies and the whole we make it sexy and we don't care what others say, but now some changes to that, the actual audience might over react a bit in some instances, but these changes would have been noticed anyway, without IGN freakout setting the stage, and the devs reacting maybe a bit weird would of course fuel it also anyway.
So controversy after controversy is not equal. The "victims", reasons and consequences are very different.
Now with maybe Sony pushing some minor adjustments, design requests that were maybe made much earlier, and or them actually finishing the designs very very late, it appears just weird.
Just adding either versions would make everyone but the Eve is pure evil haters happy. Then the probably influenced or just too late artists have their version in the patched game and the horny boys can have the slightly more revealing outfits they prefer, for science. It might have been an accident, but unlike the hard Rs having the advertised models is no big or even controversial ask if you are a dev that is truthfully not afraid to do sexy stuff. None of it is actual porn stuff, trolling desperate or just clever females show much much more on youtube even before a login.

These tactics aren't going to work because the message can be succinctly boiled down to "comply with our demands or suffer the consequences."

They have less way power and popular support than they think they have. Its a big enough contingent to support drama clicks, especially when bigger streamers are too scared of alienating their own audiences by making an actual principled stand, but without stuff like ESG scores putting a heavy thumb on the scales they are easy to ignore.
