Friday the 13th: The Game |OT| You and your friends are dead. GAME OVER

Xaero Gravity

NEXT LEVEL lame™
I think im going to take the plunge on this. I've watched a ton of streams and i feel like if i keep watching without actually experiencing it, i'll just hit a wall and lose interest completely and i'm banking on the idea that they'll make good on their promise to fix and expand the game

Any pro strats i should know about? I've picked up a few things here and there:

-barricade/lock all doors and open all the windows
-Try not to use doors to enter/exit cabins, only use the windows.
-If you feel generous, leave vehicle parts by the vehicle so you don't die with it somewhere out in the woods and screwing everyone else over in the process
-Don't talk about any impending exit strategies when Jason's around

Should there be a different mind set if you respawn as Tommy Jarvis?
Your job as Jarvis is to run interference essentially, and help others survive/escape.

Are you serious? Almost every game I've been in, Tommy either (1) steals the 4-seater that everyone else scrounged parts for, (2) dies relatively quickly (again), or (3) runs off on his own, ends up as the last player and forces the rest of us to watch him helplessly run from cabin to cabin until the inevitable Jason end.

BTW I love this game, bugs and all.

Man, as a huge Friday the 13th fan I'm having a BLAST with this on PC. The immersion is through the roof, especially for a game going for the whole Friday the 13th vibe. I've already put 11 hours into it on PC. :)

I'm really excited to see what they do with DLC and future content. I know it's still new, but I'm definitely anxious to see what they do in the future. I knew I'd be happy with it, I mean I backed it and all that. But I'm still beyond happy with how everything worked out, and then some! Kudos to illFonic and Gun Media! :)

If Jason is on your tail and you know the house is barricaded up use the closest hiding spot to regen your stamina quicker and lower your fear level faster.

It agitates me how many people don't barricade doors after entering a cabin. That shit can save your life late game.

That isn't your job at all.

You aren't rewarded in the game for that and therefore no one really plays like that. That's not what Tommy is about at all, but that's what he SHOULD be about with some minor tweaking.

I'd stick to any with decent stealth like AJ. That mechanic is the key to success and AJ has 9 (I think). I've avoided many Jason encounters w her crouched, gaining back stamina and avoiding his detection.

Yoi could go the more popular route and use Vanessa. Max top speed and stamina, you can usually outrun Jason ling enough to traverse the map. Problem is, she isn't handy for much else.

I think a lot of people saying the game is unbalanced or too hard to get away from Jason haven't invested much time in it. I thought like this at first too but now I'm able to escape as a counselor pretty often. I've seen Jason players get starched pretty hard by counselors too.

This game is an acquired taste honestly. Once you get into a grove and learn how it all works, escaping from Jason really isn't hard.

Level 27 here. The game is stacked heavily against the survivors with any decent Jason. However, I think a few things could make the end game more interesting. These might tip the scales too far in the survivors direction though.

- When there is only one or two survivors left, show the location of car parts if they have a map.
- When you have a map and a radio, show the location of dropped items from dead people.

Please don't do this. I love the rush of finding that last item you need in the middle of nowhere just when you need it and when people are being executed they're like "the keys are on me he's killing me"

I see that a lot too lol. Most people seem to treat him as a second chance to escape more than anything else.

I don't think I could disagree more xD

To me, that sounds like it's punishing Jason for being aggressive and killing folks off quickly.

I mean the whole point is Jason is supposed to be overpowered, but I think a lot of survivors aren't doing their part either. They need to buff the spawn rates of rarer items like the propeller, car keys, batteries, etc.

They also need to find a way to stop survivors from just hiding in the map and waiting for the time to run out. I think if you're the last one left your fear should go up a lot, it's so lame when folks sit there for 9+ minutes cause the Jason can't find them at all.

Looking at this list gets me excited for the future.

Eh, I've been in too many games where it is boring or impossible as the last survivors to do anything.

Being the last survivors or two already is so stacked against you.

My suggestions might be too much, but I think some balancing like this is needed.

An extra set of spawned items would help too, but it might be too easy that way as well.

The waiting being the most viable option is my biggest problem. It's boring for everyone.

Nah, jason is supposed to be OP . I do think his teleports (both) could use minor tweaking.

Had a match last night where I was AJ and found the propeller. Ran down to the boat and installed it quickly. Great, now all I need is gas. Proceeded to search cabins and the first I went to low and behold had gas. Jason was near attacking two others so I made a dash for the boat and quickly put the gas in. While I started up the boat here comes another player trying to hitch a ride but I thought damn, I found both of these shits and fixed the boat myself. Needless to say I took off into the nights sky leaving the other player peering at me from docks. Unlocked the "Chad Is A Dick" trophy in the process lol.

Having never really seen the movies all the way through (except maybe the 1st one, over a few nights during the Oct. Fear Fest movie marathon), this game makes me want to watch every single Friday the 13th movie. Really kicking myself for not backing this --- it is a blast and hits the right notes just as Alien Isolation did

Here's a completely off the top of my head suggestion for how to make late-game interesting if there's only one or two survivors left.
  • You don't survive by lasting 20 minutes, at the 20 minute marker Jason automatically kills you (only if there were 1 or 2 survivors entering the final minute or two)
  • At the 19 minute marker, the cops show up at one of the exists automatically. (Unless cops have already been called)
  • If there are more than 2 survivors left at the 18/19 minute marker, the end game stays as it currently is
Basically this means a lone survivor or two cant just hide and wait it out for a minute and it forces a final confrontation with Jason

I'm not saying nerf Jason. There's a difference between OP and boring. Every end game is beyond predictable with 1 survivor left and no objectives being activated.

Having a map and being the last survivors or two should show dropped items, or even just dead bodies (no items). Especially if those people had walkie talkies. It already shows the status of objectives.

Dead by Daylight does difficulty scaling based on the number of people left. I don't see why this couldn't be similar to make the game more dynamic.

Hell, having shorter matches would help crank up the tension as well.

Have the same one. Sometimes I just feel like being a selfish player and leave without people lol.

I thought we don't get any of the stuff passed what was kickstarted? Did they say they will be adding this stuff now with the sales of the game?
Well they were only expecting 30k people on day one but blew past that with 80k. With all this money I figure this list will give us an idea of post release content support.

Why do Jasons rage quit? Even if you've only killed a couple of people you'll get a decent amount of XP at the end of a round. It's like some people think you need to kill everyone or it's a failure.

Assholes gonna asshole. That's why. It's the same reason some people rage at developers on twitter trying to tell them how to fix their damn game when they don't have a clue how shit works. It's the same reason some people feel the need to cheat in games. It's the same reason some people want to abuse people over headsets by calling them vile and disgusting names. That's the sad but simple truth.

I've been watching streams of the game, but why is everyone able to hear each other. It kind of ruins it when Jason can hear what the others are saying. Is it a proximity thing or something? How do people talk across the map, I've hear of walkie talkies, but maybe I haven't been paying much attention, but I don't see any walkie talkies being discovered. They are just chatting from the get go, kind of ruins it for me.

Did it hit all these goals?

Also, I saw a Twitch stream the other day a Jason that was partially on fire with a trident. The hell is the deal with that?
Sadini Jason, I think it was a reward for those that backed it a certain amount. I hope they sell it later.

It's proximity chat unless you find a walkie talkie. With that you can chat with others that have one anywhere on the map. It is perfect and amazing, I've tricked some Jason's saying "start the car just leave me!" and I start laughing when he teleports. I haven't chatted with this many strangers since like 2006 Xbox live, everyone just party chats nowadays.

Walkie talkies let yoy chat across map. Proximity chat lets you talk to others close to you. Just like real life

Yeah this is a lot of fun but obviously can be much better. I'm ok with having bought it because I feel like I'm already enjoying it enough, but I will also be disappointed if they don't continue to improve it in various ways. I've only did three rounds but they all ended in network errors.

Playing as Jason is a blast.

I say watch them all at least once, those are bad but they're all technically bad lol. They each have their moments. 1, 2, 6 and 7 are essential though.

It was also available on the Backerkit site, but they've already said they'll never, ever sell Savini Jason. Now if they could get my code working I'd really appreciate it >_>

I am getting tired of leavers because they are not Jason to be honest,

Yeah, I'm not a fan of people leaving in general to be honest. I heard people say that if you leave you get less XP, which I guess is enough to get people to stay to a certain degree. But I wish there were something that would keep people from leaving more so. I understand some people are impatient, but come on. :(

Ok I guess I saw two people who spawned close to each other talking to each other in the beginning.

Had my first taste of possible collusion. The game went fine until it was down to Jason and a counselor. Jason eventually catches up to him and they end up standing face to face talking about how they wanted to end the game and what type of murder would be best. Me and a few others in the dead zone were like why don't you just kill him and what the heck is this?! A couple others chuckled like this is cool.

Once the round was over, I was like peace out, brehs. I don't play that nonsense.
