I was a little surprised just due to how slow this thread moves..not many groups being formed etc. (I don't have the game, so just some observations)
Yeah, you'll be fine. Most games I have played have one or more people that aren't using a mic. You can still get somebody's attention by turning your flashlight on and off or setting down items. Don't worry about it.
A game where nobody is using a mic can be a bit rough and you're likely to all get picked off by Jason, but having a few silent players isn't that big of a deal.
I got on for the first night in a bit with a few friends and we decided to come up with our own game modes to spice things up and we came up with the game "Secret Slayer" (Dumb name, I know). One person gets picked to be Jason and that person will secretly message one of the other person and have him be his "Helper". The helper will do small things throughout the game to undermine the other survivors, but try to be stealthy about it without getting caught.
It was actually a fun twist on people being asshat's and helping Jason in a real game, since the person helping Jason is trying to be covert about it and not get caught and it kind of creates a situation of who can you trust. We're still trying to tweak out a punishment for getting caught though other than just killing the helper, so it's a work in progress.
Obviously, this is only something you'd do with an entire group that agrees to it, as doing crap like this doing a normal game is shitty. I'm sure we're not the only one that has come up with something similar though.

That actually sounds like an incredible amount of fun.
Sounds similar to Trouble in Terrorist Town with Garry's Mod.
Wondering when they'll bring something of that nature to console. If you're listening devs we're still waiting on a dedicated Prop Hunt (not CoD4 remastered) and Trouble in Terrorist Town. Don't underestimate the amount of people who actually want this on Xbox.

Try Halo 5 community-made games. Map makers have been remaking some of Gmods game modes for a while now.
I cannot stress how much I love it when I'm Jason and I kill people by hitting them rather than picking them up and they cry because they had a pocket knife and call you "one of those jasons".

Is quite common for OTs in here to not reflect on sales. Call of Duty, Mortal Kombat sell more than Street Fighter, Dark Souls yet the later have multiple OTs. Even huge games like Minecraft and GTAV have a relatively small precense im here (GTAV has 3 OTs on page 2 at the Community side, and the 3 combined barely have enough posts to be a full 20k OT).
Friday the 13 is quite popular, even on people I know that don't play much. But the concept is liked by many on top of the source been known.
The game is functionally broken on Xbox One. There's only been one real update that was over a month ago. It made the game functional at the basic level (It was literally unplayable at launch) but it's still completely broken, full of disconnecting issues, crashing to dashboard, in-game glitches, and broken perks. PC and PS4 have been getting patches on a semi-regular basis and I've heard it's stable on those systems, but it's garbage on Xbox One.
At this point, it's like they've basically just abandoned trying to fix the problem on Xbox One. They haven't put any updates regarding the situation for X1 in weeks, and the community on Xbox is fading fast since people are getting fed up. I'd recommend your nephew getting a refund if it's still possible and getting it on PC or PS4 if he has the option and still wants to play. The actual game is fun, but he won't be able to enjoy it at all on Xbox anytime soon.

Seriously though, have you not been reading about all the problems people have been having on Xbox with this game? Or heard complaints about it from people online? I can barely play a game with friends or through LFG without someone talking about the problems, or crashing out themselves. The game is seriously screwed on Xbox, hate to break it to you.
I'm glad you seem to be having absolutely no problems though, dead serious, because that's been the absolute opposite that me and nearly everyone else I know have been having with it.

Is it possible the Xbox one update hasn't happened because Microsoft is denying it till it actually works? Are the patches on the PS4 versions actually making the game perfectly playable?
Using workarounds as an excuse to the game "working" brehs.
They were having a lot of problems with certification with the first patch, so it wouldn't be surprising if that was a huge hurdle in them finally getting another patch out. I still can't understand what's taking so long though, even with MS's strict certification process, unless all the patches they're submitting have major flaws. The lack of communication with the community doesn't help either.
As far PS4 goes, I've heard it's mostly stable now, with some issues potentially caused by the recent update but nothing like on Xbox.

The Xbox One problem was actually easy to solve. I bought the game day one. My buddy could get games going but I couldn't get a party going and I realised the xbox one ports were not forwarded in my router. I opened all of them and never had a problem getting a game or full group again.

Switched from AJ to Adam with a full bat-suite of perks for a few games tonight. It was a great change of pace, I really enjoyed saving my buds by repeatedly knocking Jason down, it felt like a completely different game.
that might fix matchmaking, but doesnt fix the glitches, bugs, memory leaks, dashboard crashes, etc.
To those asking if we havent gotten a patch because they cant pass cert. Its highly likely.
Im watching a stream now and since the last patch the perks stopped working on pc. So, likely, they are still adding bugs or not fixing the bugs they claim to fix and Microsoft is refuisng to allow the patch.

Saw this on the official instagram for the game. Posted early March. Freddy being on the second page intrigues me.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen more talk of possible Freddy DLC, though tbh I'd much prefer a whole separate NOES game, having Freddy just running around Crystal Lake killing camp counsellors would be dumb. Plus I'm guessing if they did add Freddy as a playable character, 90% of people would be playing as him instead of Jason for the first few weeks.
Not that I wouldn't still be excited about Freddy DLC all the same.
Maybe he would appear in the single player mode?

If you look at the text under the Jason picture on that page with Freddy, it's pretty clear it's an ad for some limited edition autographed busts. Wouldn't get my hopes up for Freddy DLC.
That said, a game in this style (I dunno, where the Freddy player is given a minute to set traps in a level before the match?) or even just having him in this game as a bonus could be fun.
I mean, both properties are under New Line, right?

I was adressing most complaints on this page about matchmaking. I wasn't making a case that the game was devoid of bugs. This game shouldn't have been sold as a final product. It should have been in the the preview section of the xbox store.

So apparently from what someone said in a match, Jason's sense can't be avoided when he gets Rage mode. His sense becomes guaranteed no matter what your composure or stealth is.

Specifically tested with this someone in a 1 v. 1 game when we got bored. Said he couldn't sense me. Can't confirm if that's accurate, as I was the counselor.

I almost believed it since I've played plenty of games where Jason couldn't find me until late in the game even though I never moved from the spot.

After I posted my question he was able to join a few full lobbies, seemed the chances improved after 5pm (PT) and he had a decent experiance playing as a new player, especially in one game where a friendly player was willing to help him out.
I noticed on the official F13 twitter page they mention an X1 patch coming soon (posted July 3rd) so I guess theres hope.

My friend and I bought this a couple of nights ago and I'm not sure if I regret my decision yet.
The Base game is fine when it works, I've only played as the counseler in my games but from the games I have had I've found them fun.
The main two issues i have is that the game is really newbie unfriendly. Sometimes I have no idea WTF is going on and suddenly Jason finds me although I don't seem to be scared and I'm creeping around like a mouse in a room I can't be seen in. The other issue is the matchmaking. I've not been in a full lobby once and I've had to wait up to 10 minutes to get a game at peak times. Its horrible.
Hopefully my experience picks up. The game would probably be lots of fun if I could get into games quickly.
Edit: ah, reading above it seems xbox edition is broken, which is where I bought it. Will look at getting a refund.

I've been playing with an Xbox controller on PC up til now, but I picked up a Logitech g502 mouse yesterday and spent a little while getting acclimated to mouse and keyboard. My first game with it I was chosen to be Jason, and the DPI was so high I failed miserably for the most part. Once I got it adjusted and had a few games under my belt, I got picked to be Jason again and holy shit mouse + kb is a game changer.
I used some tricks I saw in Stroiker's Jason highlights video, and my personal favorite was spotting a counselor with sense, activating Stalk and standing around the corner of a cabin they were jogging around to get to the car. Waited until the last second before I popped out from around the corner and grabbed them, which elicited a pretty good reaction from the jump scare.
Sure wish I could remap the controls, though.

Room I was hosting had two roof glitchers. Got to record and report then killed the room. Felt good.

A group of randoms and I were working together to try and kill Jason. I got killed at the start and spawned as Tommy. Another player had already picked up the sweater, and one other player was Bugzy and had bats. All 3 of us managed to take down Jason's mask. I had a Machete ready, and Jason teleports to his friend who had a shotgun. His friend came running towards us and killed the person with the sweater, ruining everything. It was such bullshit. We had everything ready and just because they're working together, they fuck it all up. We were doing it legit too just nothing but randoms.
I saved the footage and picture of the score board that shows his friend being the only that escaped. These two pieces of shit will hopefully be banned.

The F13 devs are ridiculous. I hope their game crashes and burns. Their ban guidelines are stupid AND they will show favoritism if they know you. If you're doing one of the things that can get you banned and you know the devs, you'll get a stern talking to as opposed to a ban. Also, if they know you personally, there is no need for video evidence. Your word is bond.

Yeah I think someone posted something like this earlier about people knowing the devs. Granted the people were misogynistic and homophobic pricks, I still hope devs will take a fairer stance among this. Favoritism is stupid. And it's obvious their favor lays with PS4 and PC. Fuck outta here if it takes MS to approve a patch THREE weeks now.

That is directly from their ban guidelines.
From my understanding they don't know the devs directly. And also the ban request went through the normal chain of command. Reddit turned into a dumpster fire.. The devs also have evidence of what occurred but won't release it for privacy issues... I get the whole free speech argument... But let's be human to eachother.
