Stinkles bring back plasma stun
Stinkles bring back plasma stun
First time since CE.![]()
Never understood why people think longer kill times makes this more of a reality instead of making the aiming and movement skillful.Get shot in the back in Reach or 3? No problem, turn around and outgun the the opponent in accuracy and you can still win the fight.
This is why I love CE gameplay and the Pistol. You get shot from behind, you actually still stand a chance.

For example:
I'm not going to argue with you about what you like and don't like, but you should try it in december. The vast majority of pros and schmoes we talked to enjoyed it, regardless of their prior stance on TTK. Now you may still dislike it, but you should play it in the context of the other stuff rather than making assumptions about an imbalanced match ona vid.
You might still hate it, but looking is not the same as trying.
good reply.
btw, anyone know, was the beta invite on MCC? actually pretty interested now after watching a few vids.
It looks like what Halo 4 should have been, and I'm really looking forward to it. A lot of it I like (Thrusters, faster gameplay (movement and killing), presentation, etc.), but some other stuff I'm skeptical about. ADS scoping might be alright and less jarring than traditional Halo scopes, so I'm willing to test it out with an open mind. I really, really like how effective automatics are, despite how "in agreement" competitive Halo players seem to be over automatics in Halo. The argument has always been how easy they've been to use, but much like sprint, it doesn't have to be designed how we've experienced before.Hey, Funknown, I've been wondering; as the resident CE evangelist, what do you think of the H5 beta footage?
Send my thanks to those in charge of designing the Pistol with 12 shots. Seriously <3I'm not going to argue with you about what you like and don't like, but you should try it in december. It's when your shots register on the enemy. In Halo PC (the code which CE is based on in this collection), the only way to know for sure that your shots registered is when you hear that sound, otherwise try not to get thrown off when their shields flicker thinking you landed a shot.wtf is that BEEPING?? jesus that's annoying. i'm pretty sure i could tell fine when i was hitting people in the original....
Unfortunately, it's needed because you can't use the shield flickering as indication of your shots registering. It's strange.thats just a placeholder right? i don't know what it would be placeholding (?) but what the fuck

That's supposed to be the beauty of game design; empowering those with creative muscles to produce something of quality for their fans. Sometimes the mark is missed, but when the proper balance is struck.. Magic.

The time to kill in this just fucking sucks. Sorry.
god they should've removed it. horrible imo
anyway, so does the MCC = an invite, or just a way to access the beta + you need an invite?
As long as the core of what makes Halo fun is still there, sprint can exist. Sprint was never the one thing to break Halo's formula and people wrongly blamed it IMO. The bigger issue with people escaping battles were the long kill times and superfluous elements like AA's and Equipment.Whatcha thinking about Sprint, in Halo 5 and in general?

Damn this looks amazing! I expect this game (and especially this new mode) will be a huge hit in the competetive scene.
updated OP with new footage. that smg....

Spartans jumping into the arena before a match starts and the in-game Spartan chatter are cool. Although, the mic CSHH or whatever that's called needs to be toned down and changed a bit to distinguish itself from CoD; it sounds way too similar for my liking. SMG is badass, AR is awesome, Pistol has 12 shots, DMR returns, BR looks good, I'm surprisingly okay (for now, we'll see if that changes) with the ledge grab, and overall I'm excited. Looking forward to it and analyzing the gameplay.
Remember that in Breakout mode, players have less shield. It's OP regardless in other modes as well though.
ADS seems to give the player no advantage at all. It's just an animation at this point.
Played the shit out of those. Want new ones that aren't completely different from a gameplay perspective.Look pretty fun tbh. Plus, if it's not good, we'll have the MCC for years to come anyways.

Reticule gets smaller so it looks like it makes shots more accurate.
Indeed. So why even have it? Other than to pander to COD-crowd.
The old scope-implementation is more clear, with better peripheral vision, and good lore explanation.
I admit the holo sights look kind of cool, but couldn't they just tweak the old scope to be more holo-like instead of having black lines? No need to have the weapon and scope itself taking up space on the screen.
The game looks amazing other than the SMG killing way too fast. DMR should be better than the SMG other than in shotgun range.
Your peripheral vision has a lot more range with the new system versus before. With speed and movement ease being upped, seeing somebody move around you or flanking will become a lot more important than before.
Is there any footage of vehicles or bigger arenas?
Does it? 2x zoom is still 2x zoom, isn't it? (Though i guess this depends on the base FOV?) And the gun takes more space and is not transparent, unlike the old scope view (which, could have been even more transparent/less darkened now that i think of it).
And toggling scope is presumably faster than the animation of the Spartan bringing the weapon up.
None yet. Those are not in the beta.
I'm not sure how I feel about this.
I was one of those people that, while still preferring the classic games, nevertheless enjoyed Halo 4 quite a lot. But from what I've seen of Halo 5 so far my gut feeling is that I don't really like the look of it, although I can't pin down why that is. But I will at least try the beta.
That said, I do know that I'm definitely not a fan of 343's art or fiction design. Everything in their games looks somehow more generically futuristic than I'm used to. I don't think it 'feels' like the universe of the original games; even the team logos look like they've been lifted from Unreal Tournament. Pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, I know - it won't be a decisive factor in whether I end up buying Halo 5 - but there you go.
Remember that in Breakout mode, players have less shield. It's OP regardless in other modes as well though.
SMG will probably get a bit of a nerf I'm guessing during the beta when it has the most kills. Though, looking at it in the low shield/low health mode of Breakout makes it look OP like crazy, we need more footage of it in a standard match and how effective it is against a full shield.
Hmm, TTK didn't seem as low as I imagined, but it's still low enough to change how people approach each other IMO.
All the beeps I guess are shots when they confirm they hit? Neat touch.
EDIT: The sound design is AMAZING.

You can say a lot of things about the new art, but "generic" really isn't one of them.

On that count, the aiming animation doesn't seem to be more than 2-3 frames, so it's more or less on par with the old zoom.
As for before, if the zoom only takes place in the scope, rather than over the entire screen, you would technically see more stuff to the sides.
I won't be melee rushing if the kill times are fast. I won't be running away from fights if it delays my shield recharge and the kill times are fast. Halo 5 Midship looks to be a good size with more surface area, a change I'm all for. And of course there's no evidence, but I'm going with optimism for now.I disagree with you when it comes to Sprint though (and especially about superfluousness of Equipment! Best addition ever even if their implementation sucked*). I think Sprint has more issues than merely enable easy escapes, it allows, nay, it promotes melee-rushing, and the maps are too often made too big to accommodate it. There is no evidence Halo 5 isn't doing these same mistakes once again. (Also, as i keep saying, it affects the control scheme negatively. I hate that any function gets placed to the D-pad, it is awkward to use.)
And also about the SMG; it is not badass, because it looks terrible. Give me back my Halo 2/3 or ODST-like SMG. Otherwise i like the fact it is back even without dual-wielding, though i question why, since the AR is there as well.
Halo 3's Equipment though is silly IMO and why you think you should be able to stand toe to toe with a frikkin Tank while on foot is beyond me lol. If you're getting trapped somewhere by a Tank, then good on the Tank guy, figure a way out of it. A Tank is supposed to dominate a match and isn't a problem when balanced properly, like the CE Tank ironically enough :b*Terrible balancing in them. You know when the Bubble Shield is really awesome? When the game has tanks. The damn tanks that kill you with one shot. The Bubble gives you a fighting chance. Unfortunately Bungie insisted putting it on small maps without vehicles... It ground Guardian quite often to halt.
The best part of the Mantle's Approach is how its description says that it is not as large as other Forerunner vessels.
The thing is literally a mobile Moon. Man, I loved the Forerunner trilogy... easily the best Halo novels since Evolutions.
One sees just fine with the old scope view in older Halos, unless your TV was very dark or something. (Though i think some Halos insisted on putting some stuff there, distortion effects or such.)
Anyway, that's a lesser issue, next to the stuff from the weapon blocking my view near the center! I remember that in CODs and BF3 i opted for most clear scope because of this issue.
