Basically this, lol. The most frequent kind of comment I hear when I show my wife something (or when she shows me something), is usually "it's cute, but the vagina is drawn badly." ...I suppose it takes a lady to pick up on that kind of thing.

You're not being irrational, you're beholden to you feelings and your reactions. We all are. There are some things that I like, and some things I don't care for (and I think this goes for a lot of people), but in my case, even the things I don't care for I'm still interested in knowing about and understanding. If I can understand it, I can understand more types of people and be a less judgmental person. I seek to improve myself, however possible.

I also think that porn (in its various forms) is one of the most misunderstood topics ever. We are just as quick to judge other forms of erotic art that we don't agree with (along with its viewers), as we are to feel ashamed or embarrassed of our own inner vices. I've sought to understand myself better, and this has lead to greater enjoyment - as well as the urge to understand and accept others along with the things that they enjoy.

That's part of the reason I'm here - but I'm also enjoying the art, and broadening my horizons!

I don't expect people to be shitheads, nor do I expect requisite respect out of anyone. I expect to let my experiences guide me, and to chase my passions. I'll just let the opinions of others roll off of me like water drops - and to not be distracted by any negative ideas or accusations. I believe you can only receive what you give - but I also like to give people a chance to prove me wrong. You must start with a positive mindset to be open to learning.

I don't think that one needs to feel as though they must love other people necessarily - especially if one's experiences with others are bad - it's important to love and understand yourself first, as a person, before you can balance both empathy and humility.
