Valve's greatest contribution IMO is SteamOS.

If you have AMD hardware, it's (almost) foolish to not use Bazzite/Linux. (A distro that is identical to SteamOS, but is more friendly to desktops)

It's an infinitely better experience than Windows.

The one thing Valve really needs to do is work more closely with nvidia to get their Linux GPU drivers up-to-snuff. Right now, they're useable, but they are about a tier in performance lower on Linux and outright awful in DX12 titles, which is a reason I would prefer all developers abandon DX and just use Vulkan.

On AMD DXVK works AMAZINGLY well, but getting rid of a translation layer would be a benefit to everyone.

I get the same feeling. We best enjoy what we've got while we got it because the day Gaben is gone there's no guarantee Valve stays private and at the point... Man I don't even want to think about it

You legitimately have no idea what you are talking about. You are one of those people who throws out a bunch of BS stats during an argument, hoping no one actually looks into your claims. Tell me how forcing someone to buy a charging cable for your product, or removing the auxiliary port on your product to overcharge for your wireless earbuds, isn't greedy? Then explain to me how profit immediately equals "greed"? Thennnn explain to me how Valve is greedier. I won't hold my breath.
