Probably going to be a lot of the usual rich person hate for him about this, but I'm happy for him. Dude was out (awkwardly) personally hand delivering Steam Decks just a few years ago. Let him live in an armada of yachts if he feels like it.

There is a big difference between people who reached insane wealth creating something they truly love and are passionate about and those who did it to make insane wealth tbh

GabeN was (is still) one of us, he just has a lot more yachts.

It's your own fault for buying so many dota 2 courrier skins, you bastards.

Did he outright buy the company or is he a major partner?
The previous owners are talking about still being in the yacht business with their turk shipyard, so GabeN probably fully own the company. After a few articles I found one from PC gamer that put it in perspective:
Newell acquiring a yacht company is very funny but not very surprising. The man himself already owns a small fleet of very expensive boats, including the Draak and Rocinante, and is set to take ownership of the $400 million Y722 superyacht (made by Oceanco) later this year. He only recently graced our pages for chatting about how he spends a lot of time at sea scuba diving.
The man is rich, and I suppose will ask something big from his new company to make a even bigger yacht in the future. Hopefully he is not retiring to do so.

IT is one thing to buy a yacht, another level of money to buy the whole company.

I wonder if her will make them install steam when they purchase a yacht.

I kinda wonder about the value of the company versus the value of the product they sell. I suspect luxury yacht building is rife with dubious accounting, laundering, and endless levels of contractors and sub-contractors.

Or maybe its all just research for a yacht building game.....hmmmm that might be pretty cool.

Thank god it´s Gabe who took over. Imagine Todd Howard. "Yes, we had this Yacht 15 years ago. No, I don´t care if we do the same thing again. And make sure you can play Skyrim on the Chartplotter."

I hope he has hot babes in bikinis on his yachts too since he deserves it

Using my millions of dollars I shall purchase a yacht company and then I will have a place to put them called…

"The Steam Dock".

When I make my first Billion I don't want a Yacht, I want a giant wooden airplane stocked with chocolate bars.
One that never needs to land, Refuels midair. Track me if you want, I'm never landing.

Boats are a sure fire way to spend a lot of money fast. As he bought the company rather than boats themselves, I would assume he is relying on that

Yacht salesman: "I'm sorry Mr Newell, I know you are extremely rich and all but that yacht you are looking for doesn't exist and i don't think anyone is going to make it for you. It's too extreme."

Gabe: "Oh, yeah?"

We'll see if he starts making really conceptual yachts. I feel like the dick swinging yacht game has tapped out of just the sheer size and is going towards wacka-doodle yacht ideas that will stand out from a crowd of other white/black traditional designed boats.

The terms to sell Valve to Microsoft are already agreed upon. Just waiting to make the announcement public.
Valve was founded by ex-MS execs and they've made the most of their autonomy, so I wouldn't really worry about that outcome.

TBH just an xbox branded steam deck with easy access to game pass and maybe cloud streaming for the heavier games....I'd buy that for $15/month!!

I don't know how ownership is divided, but I think the biggest factor could be what the main stake holders' kids want to do with their professional lives. I can see a scenario where they don't want to "burden" their kids with transferring the business to them. Founders must all be close to retirement age if not over.
